  • what the work for hi ?

  • how are you? = come stai?

  • i maltese and italian and maltese is very the same

  • ----> Note that this only works if you are talking to someone you want to show respect to! If you are talking to a friend you should say:

    - "ciao" instead of "salve"

    - "ciao" or "ci vediamo" instead of "arrivederci"

    - "come va?" or "come stai?" instead of "come sta?"

    - "molto bene, e tu?" instead of "molto bene, e lei?"

    - "come ti chiami?" instead of "come si chiama?"

    - "parli inglese?" instead of "parla inglese?"

    - "scusa" or "scusami" instead of "mi scusi"

  • @venusviola ah yes, the formal and informal variations

  • Lovely language, too bad they have a sucky government and a prime minister who's a pedophile and sleeps with prostitutes. Also, they're homophobic. Too bad. Italy has so much potential.

  • i think the girl in the video is hot.

  • 0:58 I like his complete failure at rolling the R's.

  • jaja en español (sanish) "come sta" , "come esta" = "eat this" significa algo totalmente diferente

  • @Lordbaldurs HAHAHAHAHA !!

  • There's something I don't quite understand, most of the words said are "formal" such as 'come si chiama', shouldn't the translation of goodbye be 'arriverderla' instead of 'arrivederci'?

  • @DaHNoVa you can also say 'arrivederla', its just not as usual as 'arrivederci', but correct

  • Mocio grazias amigos! :P

  • Man Italians are so lucky. They don't have a continent on the other side of the world ripping their language off.

  • @AhmadAlony123 Maybe we don't have a continent on the other side of the world, but we have 20 regions and their dialects... XD

  • @0Nio1 non lo sapevo

  • YOU ARE WELCOME IS ''SEI IL BENVENUTO'' NOT PREGO

  • @MYfunnyFACTORY what's "prego" then?

  • @MYfunnyFACTORY si ma in inglese e` l`equivalente di prego

  • salve?

    what about ciao?

  • this is a very formal language...colloquial language is a bit different. for example: for "hello" we say "ciao", for "how are you?" "come stai?", for "what's your name?" "come ti chiami?" :-)

  • the girl has a pretty sexy voice

  • wow its super easy, if you know spanish!!soo similar!

  • italians don't say collegio they say università, ie. " Ciao ragazzi, spero che state bene nella università." sounds better because she's speaking to more than one kid, so it's not in the 'tu' form, but 'voi' meaning all of you =)

  • @ thesunmanho. Is that kind of negative output needed? It's things like that start arguments. Which isn't needed either. Let's be mature shall we?

  • e lei? Shouldn't it be: e tu?

  • @RavenHairedMaiden e lei? is formal. E tu? is informal

  • salve è da idioti, non dice niente, è meglio ciao ;-)

come stai ? come sta = how is she / he

come ti chiami ( you ), come si chiama ( she, he )

parla ( he, she), parli ( you )

    mi scusi or scusami

    quite well this video

  • @endecasillabosciolto

HI, How how would I say, Hi, kids I hope you are doing well in college?

  • what do you want me to do ??

  • @endecasillabosciolto

I just wanted to know how to say that in italian.

"Hi Kids I hope you are doing well in college?"

    Thanks,

  • @endecasillabosciolto sarà... però io ora all'università lo uso spesso per salutare gli assistenti giovani dei prof... ciao è troppo confidenziale... buongiorno è troppo da vecchi ...quindi si usa salve :)

  • in italian hello is ciao, but for old peoples is salve for education

  • Italian is Very easy for me Because i am a native Castilian (Spanish) Speaker and Italian French Spanish Romanian Portuguese are all from Latin so if you know any of these the other Romance languages are easy to learn

  • thank u for the vid!

  • Wow! I heard the "molto bene" phrase in a volleyball match. Obviously, the commentators were Italians . Anyway, nice vid!

  • Viva L'Italia

    FORZA LAZIO!

  • I'm Italian and I can assure you that English is much easier to Italy because there are so many verbs in English and then still I like both English and Italian

  • Hahaha I love italians and their names they are like Vittoria Mancinni, Giancarlo turella, or Gioseppe Carbonetti. hahaha LOL.

  • yes if you know spanish learning italian is very simple

because spanish like italian is very close to latin, in fact "Hispania" was a roman province...you have just to make the "s" at the end of all the words..try if you know italian XD

  • I'm italian and, the way I see it, english is much easier than italian: there are some things (for exemple tenses of verbs) that many people aren't able to use even after graduation

  • And that's why no italian can speak really well English, they underestimate it and think, that's the basic grammar is enough...I don't want to defend English, I'm from Czech Republic, but I've never ever met an italian, who could speak fluently English or better then high school student in CZ...

  • I happen to know someone Italian who speaks perfect english and has never lived in america or england, but anyone who isnt native has an accent, it's only natural, so that was a bit ignorant to say...

  • An accent is one thing, but I've never heard an Italian pronounce the two English "th" sounds, short vowels, or the short "oo" sound correctly. They also often don't enunciate final consonants clearly. It's OK, most English speakers will still understand. And, of course, a lot of Italians can speak English in a perfectly comprehensible manner. Whether the Czechs speak it better, I have no idea. Most Germans, Dutch, and Scandinavians do, but that's understandable. English is a Germanic language.

  • Yes, but I've never met a tourist in Italy who could say just something more than "ciao ciao" (to say nothing about speaking Italian fluently). So, it is a symmetrical situation...

  • Interesting perspective Geffe. I'm an American who's now learning Italian. After studying German and Ancient Greek, Italian seems very simple and easy. I always just figured that English would be more difficult to learn because 1) it has a significantly larger vocabulary (though, of course, most foreigners never learn a lot of the less used words or the multiple words for a single thing) and 2) because the pronunciation varies from word to word (unless you're mispronouncing it, as many do).

  • @TheSunmanho What a funny comment Sunmanho! Let me guess, you're 12 years old, right?

I don't mind criticism of the content of my comments, but silly insults are just, well, silly.

  • salve????

    who say salve in italy????

    Ciao is much more common.

  • they are using formal !

  • well yeah..but not in formal conversations it may sound funny..but "salve" it's very commonly used especially to people you meet for the first time:))

  • actually salve is very common when speaking with someone you dont know either over the phone or at a store for example

  • English is very difficult because there's no agreement on pronounciations. Italian is Latinic . Even though, there are some exceptionto the rules, It's A, E, I, O, U:-}

  • I'm Italian and it's so funny to heard lessons in my language!!!!

  • hahahahaha "PREGO" in Brazil means another thing like "NAIL"

  • haha.most people in italy dont no english because english is a very complicated language .because so many words can be used to mean something else most of the time.

  • Lol your words offend me... english is just an annoying and easy language to me... it's not even hard ... and anyway i prefer Russian to English.

  • omg im going to die! lol im double minoring in spanish and italian to accompany my international business major! I had 4 years of spanish in high school but italian is completely new.. Eek!

  • italian is so close to spanish, it will be really easy. just say what they say in italian and say it in spanish afterwards. it helps me.

  • @deja4993

Ciao is friendly, but they are speaking in third person, so they say salve.

  • 3rd person formal....

  • I'm italian and... yes, that's true.

  • @laura5787 but not very modest.. huh , laura ? lol !

  • I suck at rolling my R's

  • @screech519 u can do it with the D and T, y cant u do it here?

  • Se dovessi fare un video così,mi sentirei un perfetto idiota...

  • what

  • I been in Italy...

very nice people but not really know english...

it's took me like a hour everytime to find someone that know english...

  • happend to me too!

I had a great time in italy, but I noticed not too many people there speak english.! I wonder why!

I don't know what's the second language there.

  • i think it's german...

because when i been there, there was South park on tv and it's was in German...

  • Thank you for the info.

  • ohh and I was planning to go to italy. U killed it

  • lol you can still go. I'm sure each of us will have different experiences there, My only problem was the language other than that I loved every moment of it:)

  • Italian people are nice and kind,, and girls are hot too.

  • @codeagent47 bravooo!!!hai detto benee ..ahah ;)

  • @greggreVASCOmio

    no problem!

  • @codeagent47 thanks im a italian girl

  • @codeagent47 not when they are driving they are not

  • @codeagent47

Like the spanish and portuguese too :)

  • @codeagent47 Ok, so these are stereotypes, too. I know of Italian people who are very very rude, racists, narrow minded, etc.

And maybe some think girls are hot because 95% of our TV programmes are about supposedly hot women with breast implants who are either really ignorant and willing to be considered as sexual objects or just playing dumb showing their tits and being successful just because of their huge fake boobs, but not every girl is like that.

Just so you know, I'm Italian.

  • @Bakasara

it's really not a stereotype. But in general Italian girls are hot!

  • jajaja, your so right! pianomemoir. The gay guy from the movie "Euro Trip" was sooooo funny.. :-D

  • "mi scusi"

I remember the guy in the movie "euro trip" lol

  • yes hahaha

  • @pianomemoir ahhhhahhahahahha yesyesyesyes he was freakin molesting them in the tunnel ahhhahha

  • @pianomemoir omg me tooooo i was thinking the same thing!

  • @pianomemoir HAHAHAHA... that guy was fucking weird

  • dovè il cesso

  • porca puttana dimmi dove cazzo e` il cessoooo!!

  • '8 tu hai un bel culo is you have bel ass ' c'è un errore in questa frase/ there is an error in this phrase and it is:

tu hai un bel culo = you have a beautiful ass (bel = beautiful)

P.S. : non esiste la parola 'bel' in inglese per dire 'bello' = the word 'bel' doesn't exist in english to give the meaning of 'beautiful'

  • Comment removed

  • 1 bastardo is bastard. 2 merda is shit 3vaffanculo is fuck off 4 figa is pussy 5 puttana is bitch 6 tette is tits 7 scopare fuck 8 tu hai un bel culo is you have bel ass 9 ti voglio is i want you 10 io ti odio is i hate you 11 testa di cazzo is dick head (testa head, cazzo dick)

  • it makes u talk italian with the third person: a form of respect, as "vous" of french, for us is "lei" (she)

  • Arreviderci: Inglorious bastards lol.

  • you guys might be confused using LEi and TE!

because LEi has 2 significants.. it might be She or for respecting :)

  • Arrivederci actually mean "so long", questi americani sono dei somari, non sanno nemeno tradurre corettamente, e va beh che ci voi fa'....

  • What's the point by knowing the phrase "where is the bathroom?" if you don't understand the answer.........

  • they can point it to you
