Who is Miriam Stockley??

She is most well-known as being the lead singer for most of the Adiemus stuff, but she's done a tremendous amount of solo work, as well as other collaborations. She's known as a British singer, but she's originally from South Africa.

She is indeed. She started life in an act with her sister Avril - the Stockley Sisters. Think they won a South African opportunity knocks type thing in about '76. Cover of Shocking Blue's Venus (later done by Bananarama). Would love to see a video of THAT.

Yeah I found them but it was a bit spooky: I was 11 when they were on the tv in SA so they looked like 2 women singing. But when you look at them now, actually they were only about 15. And look it.

Mike Oldfield is the living demonstration that you don't need a plectrum/pick to play electric guitar... he uses the 4 finger classic technique picking with nails... and the result is pretty good, so: if you studied classic/spanish guitar, STOP WASTING YOUR TIME learning to play with the pick... jus adapt your fingerstyle to the electric paying attention to stop stop the sound not letting the strings ring and distort... look at his solo!!! and if you need , you can use one nail as a plectrum ;)

I was surfing along, got a Jones for YouTube..a little itch to see what Oldfield did other than Tubular Bells...and landed smack dab on the Maggie Reilly original acoustic coffee house/boutique version (wow) and lucked out completely by getting this as a second taste..with this lusty belter and her big-hall sound taking Reilly's place wih an electrified Oldfied. Wow again. Wow wow.
