  • shouldn't cross your arms when turning man...

  • too slow for response

  • clearly not a guy who knows how to pass a defensive driving course let alone manage a shifting class. duh WINNING....like winning a new car after you bust out the transmission of this one.

  • terrible gear box.... too slow

  • i prefer the regular manual rather than paddle shifting

  • i think it speed than rx8

  • Why buy an auto at the first place

  • This guy is gonna mess up his car shifting like that!

  • this guy does not know how to turn for shit. he made an X with his arms.

  • that doesnt sound right :(

  • It has a really late reaction...

  • I still like stick shift better

  • Don't brake your arms trying to steer

    0:56

  • Shifts Way too early... This guy is Trigger happy!!

  • this looks really stupid!! YOUTUBE needs to delete this

  • That lags way to much

  • i think if i had a good engine thatd be fine but if it was laggy with the tires spinning or sumthin i think i would b mad but ya< i dont drive but i love/reccomend manual

  • ferraris have the best response. and lambos.

  • Yep slow response ... It's nothing like the 370z :p

  • HAHAHA! Stick to video games...

    lame...

  • its still gay and automatic

  • probs a god dam auto wid a fake ass paddle shif

  • VERY LAGGY SHIFTER.

  • fake and gay

  • total fake

  • the shifter lags

  • paddle shifter are LAME

  • its too bad it shifts so slow

  • What steering wheel is that?

  • lol this is for people who don't know how to drive a true stick shift only automatic

  • NOTHING shifts slower than the regular BS transmission in my '97 SHO which is a damn shame with a 7k redline.

Three companies that make these contraptions have NO .pdf downloads for installation or details which is a real pain in the ass.

The Works Bell model you see here is DISCONTINUED when you go to their website. Seems you guys are all right about it shifting too slow.

  • very slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww shiftting

  • and best thing is if u come to a light and are in 4th u can take of in forth cauz its still a frickin auto and it shifts by itself... waste of time...no advantage over stock auto. just looks cooler

  • That's allot of click click for a little vroom vroom

  • God damn. A Suzuki Kizashi CVT with flappy paddles shifts quicker than this.

  • I think he might just be showing everyone the paddle shifting....he is not racing either so why would he want to shift late...

  • I drove a GT-R and i swear that car is somehow connected to your brain, as soon as you put your finger on the paddles to shift, its already in that gear. It shifts so fast, you wouldn't understand how fast it shifts unless you get in one of those machines, this seems so sluggish, you might as well shift manually so that a bunch of hot girls will think you are Lewis Hamilton.

  • I strongly prefer my 6MT

  • hate that the paddels turn with the wheel.

  • thats my favorite shifter the paddler they usualy havem in rally cars and some vehicles like the murcielargo

  • Paddles shifters are for autos only.....

  • early shifting man... :D

  • i call auto as well. ha!

  • its this only available in manual or auto 350z?

  • i suspect the paddles are only dummies, and the transmission is full auto :) sorry if i m wrong

  • Whats so bad about shifting early?

  • this is garbage...

  • 2 reasons to shift early whilst driving on public roads:

    1. To save fuel

    2. To not draw the attention of the coppers.

  • is it just for show and it is just an automatic transmission?

  • YOU SHIFT TOO EARLY EVERY TIME BRO

  • You should let the engine build up on revs before shifting. Paddles are indeed faster but you can still treat them quite similar to a standard manual car subtracting the need for a clutch.

  • your shifting too early.

  • no clutch? can you switch from automatic tranny to the paddle shifters? it does seem slow... like click... > shift

  • no disrespect but they shift slow..

  • bloody flappy paddles!!!

  • Wow, no talent.

  • huuuuuge delay

  • paddle shifting seems boring.

  • never buy a z with a automatic waste of money

  • i love 350z's and skylines and i saved up for a year and had dreams of getting 6mt 350 but my mom is the co-signer and forced me to get an 06 350z auto....I LOVE THE CAR AND THE SHIT AT THE SAME TIME.....im paying for somethin i dnt completely want..trying to see if its cheaper to swap trans or just get a new one which will have to wait....FUCKIN moms is fuckin wrong for that shit..AAAAHHHHH!!!!

  • @osama18eu i agree

  • Interesting to see but as theguy1224 said, its better off keepin it stock.

  • Damn poor reaction time between finger blips to actual transmission gear change. No sense. Still cool to see but its not fast enough. H-pattern tranny FTW!!

  • I know how expensive and time consuming this is but it reminds me of my logitech gt pro wheel for ps3...

  • I prefer my 6MT

  • fuck...

    Slow Shifting...

Acceleration in automatic is 5% slower than manual cars...

    No Fun

    No Stick

    STANDARD FTW

  • i'd rather have a lambo with paddle shifting than a 350z sorry!

  • he can´t shift...

  • OH HELL NO LOL

  • shifts too slow

  • @kumquatsta the response is slow when it actually shifts its pretty quick

  • Comment removed

  • lol those paddles are directly connected to the steering wheel!! that makes it so hard to shift in tight corners you obviously bought some really crappy paddles because normal ones are supposed to stay and not move with the steering wheel

  • Too bad it takes like 5sec to shift gears..

    I say meh.. I'm happy with my Z33 6spd..

  • i think he got those paddle sifts and wheel from his nintendo...

  • the driver sucks..really

  • hes probly vietnamese everything we do is slower

  • they shift late

  • hahaha u were driving in EL Monte huh

  • did you do just the transgo kit or the full valve body upgrade?

  • if that real trow them out my grandma shift quicker than that in manual gear car!!

  • Damn, a bunch of hater bitches in the comments. But anyways I think it's cool. Frees up the left foot to do some left foot braking.

  • Fucker doesnt know how to drive. Your hands shouldnt cross man !! Its a basic lesson. Heh.. n00bs !1

  • these seem like they shift late. you press it than you wait like 2 secs cant they be quicker???

  • gayy

  • pussy got an auto

  • sl65 is an auto. im sure your neon could beat that.

  • ur retarded u dont compare cars that arre auto to random ass cars that are stick. u compare a auto camaro to a 6 speed camaro, and the 6 speed owns. manuals are for more experienced and better drivers who love launching their cars

  • small and short hands there.

  • i drive a stick g35 and i shift early because i can't afford the gas =;[ .....but i have to say.. its not about how you shift it..its about how fast your going when it shifts..think about it

  • Fast and furious much huh?

  • i just looked at your profile and the second video is a celica without an exhaust....how can you make a comment like "fast and furious much" with that right there and how much horsepower do you get from the aftermarket tailights on that bucket of rice you call a car -_-

  • Hah naw man you got the wrong idea man. The way yousaid the its now how you shift...... etc. sounds like a quote from Fast and Furious. No way was i insulting you.

  • Comment removed

  • yes i agree sex is good and this guy is shifting a bit to early or is it me

  • definitely too early. learn how to drive a real manual

  • @mankid17 Way too early, it's annoying.

  • @mankid17

Just to show they're functional, im sure

  • @mankid17 definitely early

  • i don't quite understand why you would want that. and to zaftpilot, i couldn't agree more

  • LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL WTF<< get a manual~!!! it's for man,,!

  • its funny how people claim " yeah, I drive stick" or "its both m/t and a/t" and its tiptronic. lol its called a semi-automatic just shiftable.

  • as nice as that is. automatics suck regardless.

  • hold the wheel properly... :I

  • biggest personal wheel ever!!

  • hahaha re-read the title

  • slow shifts

  • so are these shifters faster or what?

  • very kool, if i had a Z it would b a must have...good vid man

  • lol??? very very slow shifting

  • Automatic...every gays have one.

Works Bell Paddle Shifter...only a few ultimate gays have it.

    Awesome mods, dude...I mean gay!

  • haha! good call

Auto's are ridiculous, you can put a paddle shifter in auto but its not better than a ps2 steering wheel

  • fucking asshole!!!

  • The point isn't necessarily lightning fast shift times. It's more a matter of being able to maintain gears through turns. If you autox or canyon carve, you generally only use a couple gears and you maintain your chosen gear through the turn. So you have the gear control for the races and then the automatic for the traffic. While I prefer a traditional manual or double clutch (high end trans) setup, I still want one of these for my auto Trans Am for canyon carving.

  • soooooooooo shit wots the point it not like ur shifting fast!

  • shit wotz wrong with a manual its not like ur shifting faster and its not as fun as a manual

  • some people just cant drive stik!!

    haha

  • u can learn stick but you can learn how to spell?

  • shifts are delayed.

its still pretty cool to me

  • wow that is some slow shiftin... car boosted?

  • These would be much better applied as turn single paddles then what they're intended use is now..i myself believe that is a waste of engineering.

  • thats actualy a realy smart idea!

  • gear changes are delayed, just get a manual transmission

  • Delayed Shifters!

  • my brother wants a 350z

  • GOOD FOR HIM!

  • is there a clutch in the 350z that is a paddle shifter ? im thinking of buying one... hows the car in the winter? any problems with the car? its a nice looking car

  • Woha I can hear a westgate and a spool, must feel odd owning a boosted auto :)

    Thats badass though sweet car!!!

  • Is it just me or is it kind of slow shifting?

  • its an auto... so its going to be like playing with tits through mittens anyhow.

it isn't a real sequential box.

  • haha really is like playing with tits through mittens without a sequential box. never heard that analogy though but funny shit man.

  • LoL

  • can someone help me out? i just got a lexus is250 and it has paddle shifters. hows that work, as specially since its an automatic car?

  • the IS doesn't have gears labeled 4th or 3d, just a manual gate so the paddles work to override the auto mode and give a bit more control like say 2nd gear as labeled in something without a manual mode. So, the paddles are there to override the auto mode of the tranny. reply if that helped.

  • the z's fully automatic. the paddle shifters are wired to ECU or smthing so u can use the paddles instead of using the gear levers on O/D Manual Mode.

didnt u guys notice the brake pedal? it's wide and he's only got 2 pedals. it's obviously an a/t.

  • yea, if it were manual there would also be less delay

  • its considered semi-automatic

  • no, a semi-auto would have a proper clutch, just that you dont use its pedal.

  • hmm, so when you shift do you have to actually let go of the gas? like a regular manual transmission? or do you shift while holding down the gas pedal? sorry i sort of dont understand... was thinking about getting an rx8 soon, and it actually has paddle shifters, they were saying something about it being a lot better if you learn how to use them well hen accelerating, and also one more questions... is it possible to go back into automatic mode while just cruising?

  • no, its just like any Tiptronic shifting

  • Seems like there is a lot of delay

  • It's a fully Manual Automatic. You tell the car when to change gears, and the on-board computer does the actual shfting of the gears for you. (Diseengaging the clutch, selecting a gear and re-engaging the clutch).

  • No it's not, the automatic 350z does not have a clutch.

  • dude hes talking about the cluctch the tranny has so ure car can shift, automatics do it for u they dont actually have a clutch pedal

  • You are very wrong. Automatics don't use clutches, they use torque converters. How can you not know that?

  • my friend is an idiot please forgive me he signed into my account like an idiot trust me strider he's an idiot you can tell by the way he spells

  • aye, blame your friend, but The BMW SMG-II is a FAR faster shift tha this and is ajustable, my old m3 had it

  • this looks cool, but also seems like more work than id want to spend. work as in keeping my hands at 3 and 9

  • 0:56? lol no one turns a wheel like that, ud break ur arm

  • there's a delay when you shift.

  • Those shift times are slow. I have a Corvette Z06 with a manual and I can easily shift my manual quicker than that. It seems like it has to think about it for a couple seconds before it executes. I prefer a manual but looking into paddle shift and I would much rather have the paddles in a ferrari or something that shift as soon as you think about it. Also the paddle shift in the Corvette is a useless piece of crap as well....just stick to a manual for now unless it is a ferrari.

  • It doesn't shift until you put the clutch in. He is pressing the paddle to pre-select the gear then when he's ready he presses the clutch and it shifts.

  • you can see his left foot on the dead pedal the whole time

I'm 99.9% sure this Z is automatic and the paddles take advantage of the manumatic mode that all auto 350z's (and g35's) have

  • Ya, I didn't look at his feet before. That is a pretty slow shift.

  • Is dual clutch a manual or automatic transmission?

  • A dual clutch gearbox is actually 2 manual transmissions...one controls the odd gears and one controls the even gears. when one clutch is engaged the other is disengaged so the transmission can select the next gear while the car is still under power. I would class the DSG gearbox as being a manual since it consists of 2 standard type clutches instead of a torque converter. Although it looks like an automatic and you don't have the 3rd petal, remove the computer and you would have a manual.

  • its a single auto, a dual clutch like the bloc above me xplained is actually two manual gearboxes that pick two different gears at once so u never get the delay because it pre selects the gears way ahead before you do. when you up shift it atomatically catches and hold the next gear with the other clutch and so forth. good ones are in VW company cars, thats ur vw, audis lambos they mastered it well

  • The whole Idea is to keep both hands on the wheel,It has nothing to do with beeing LAZY!and have been around since 1912 on the earliest race cars. Maby we need padle shifters on our cell phones!

  • u keep both hands on the wheel when u drive stick, and its not like shifting makes u look away from the road( hint hint the sell phone) plus studies have found that its not only getting ur phone from where it maybe, but actually talking on it that is the biggest disraction.....

  • this is cool an all but this vid just shows how lazy AMERICAN ppl are!!! and before u say something im american lol born and rased, but really this is for ppl who dont have the time to get off there lazy asses and take ten min a day to drive arround there block, to learn how to drive stick it isnt hard and u wont be perfect....still this isnt the real thing, get real!

  • I dont think laziness has anything to do with this vid.

  • your just jealous because you can't afford one!

  • ahahah jealous plz i can drive the real thing.....y would i be jealous of this and cnt afford come on, anyone who can make cds on there computer can go out on the corner and make enough money for this.....

  • if u plan on racing the car then its alot quicker to downshift with a paddle shifter.. its alot easier to shift period because u dont ever miss a gear.. and the only thing that can come close to this is a short throw shifter.. which still has possibles of over-rev,spinning,and missing a gear.. so if u wanna buy a car to race it then i would suggest paddles.. but if u wanna cruise then id go old school all the way.. it is more fun to drive

  • hahahaha well idk about ever one else but i havent missed a shift sence my first week driveing the car when i was learning, and i race/drift my car street/track all the time and most of the auto z's iv come across havent been able to do rolling starts cuz they cnt get to a higher rpm like a man. can and off the line i have rev launch witch they cnt do, and i shift faster than the auto/trip tronic does.....

  • well i can tell you this.. if you go to a dragstrip.. everyone uses a ratchet shifter which is pretty identical to these paddle shifters now.. because ratchet shifters.. make u faster, more consistent, and you dont have to worry about spinning as much, and bogging/ or missing gears.. so thats why some ppl like paddles.. like myself.. I race at the dragstrip, like in actual races.. so thats y i like paddle shifters.. the straight drive is more fun on the street though

  • tru tru theres nothing wrong with them i never said that......and i also race, but i havent been beaten by a car that was equaly matched to my car that had paddels.

  • This video is not a fake, because a normal auto will not downshift like it was in the video unless there is near full throttle, and there wasn't in this vid during the downshifts. The Z's autobox has a manual shift option on the gear lever, this paddle shifter add-on simple taps into the same electronics the stock gearshift does.

Know about how the technology works before you go posting stupid ass comments and show how ignorant you really are.

  • Slow... yes, but this Z needs upgrades. First off let me explain a few things:

Ferrari uses a dual-clutch gearbox system similar to the VW GTI that shifts super quick beause the next gear is always available in the 2nd clutch. The Z's autobox is NOT a dual-clutch system and is basically a regular auto on steroids. Granted it doesn't shift as fast as a Ferrari but after a few upgrades (mainly valve body) the Z's auto will shift very quickly. Still not as fast as a Ferrari but much quicker.

  • ferrari only uses a single clutch type transmission.

  • I think that the double clutch is only available in the 599 GTB, it may be in all of there cars but im pretty sure it was only on the 599, IMO I would rather stay with a standard transmission, this padel shifting is just too slow.

  • Ferrari doesn't have a dual clutch transmission yet. All of their cars use a single clutch unit as of now, even the 599.

  • Actually Ferrari does have a dual clutch transmission. They're using it in their new California model, but that isn't on sale yet, so technically you're right.

  • Ferrari doesn't have a dual clutch transmission yet. Its a single clutch unit

  • fake dumb shit

  • Lol the tech in that Zs shifters are slow. Compare it to a Ferrari or Lambos shift times.

  • I actually don't like the paddle shifters too much. Seems like it takes a lifetime to shift. I love my good ol' standard 6-spd. I hate the waiting period between shifts. If you take it on a nice winding mountain road, waiting for shifts really dulls the driving experience.

  • I've been driving my 05' 350Z 6-spd for the last couple years now, and I can't wait to get rid of it. I live in Houston, TX with over 5 million others and my 6-spd has become a major pain in the ass. I've owned many cars and pick ups that have all been 5-spds, and never once complained once about having to shift in rush-hour traffic, but the Nissan 6-speed has changed my entire opinion of standard cars. I'm trading mine off on a pick-up, but if it's not a 5-spd...I'm going automatic.6 Spds suck!
