Steve Coote played on this leg very well though he didn't win it but. I'm sad to say stewbhoy1980 that John Lowe was really indeed the first who achieved the televised 9 darter in the MFI semi-finals 1984. This video though is from the year 2002 18 years later from Dutch Open. You can check it from Wikipedia or some darts-related site.

your right there. taylor has hit 4 in for years in the uk open (they were live). barney hit one in the premier league and in the 2009 world championship against klassen. in the early days taylors 9 darters were recorded. so i over shot the mark he has hit 4 live and barney has hit 2

Quite right. In his recent book Sid Waddell had this pointed out to him after he raved about Phil Taylor having the first 9 darter to be shown live on tv. His response was that Greatbatch was only some BDO player in a tuppenny ha'penny tournament being played in a village hall watched by a few people!!

There was another 9 darter at the BDO many years ago, but it was one of the matches that was recorded and not actually transmitted live.

The guy was called Paul Lim.

I saw it on TV around the time.
