appearance pkg is a must b/c it comes with 4 way air bolstered seats. without that the seats would be a little hard. as for the drive, the car has two personalities: sport mode and regular (550 only). in sport, you can really attack the road. in regular, you cruise. :) the handling is interesting, not much feedback. this isn't a car where i feel part of the road like a bmw. very quiet, very smooth. but roll the windows down and gun it in sport mode - really gets the blood pumping.
one more thing - sometimes i turn the dynamic stability control off in sport mode - the car acts like it has launch control when you punch the throttle. the throttle is very responsive and the shocks tighten up. it's very very easy to hit maximum acceleration in this car - sub 5.0 zero to 60mph
definitely go with which car you feel has the driving experience that you want - luxury or sport - because they are both beautiful cars. i took a friend from porsche out in my e550c (he drives the carerra s2) and he was impressed with how well it performed. i loved my '05 M3, but I love my E550C more b/c it has more to offer. it would be unfair to say that the S5 = M3 though. The S5 is sort of inbetween, not as luxurious as the merc and not as sporty as the M3. very tough decision.
I have an 08 E550 now and I've been pretty happy with it but I can't effing wait to get my hands on the new one. It arrives at port on Monday and I hope to have it mid week! Did you get the windows tinted?
I live in MD and the law is 35% but I think I could get away with 30% or 25% even. Yours looks real nice though, I may not need to. Upload some video of the inside for me!
i had to order mine as well! 7 weeks of no sleep thinking about it... it really is the baddest car. i love the return to real, sharp lines - away from all this sissy curvey stuff!

The sport mode comes in any model that has the AMG package.

35% is really dark... you may regret getting the tint any darker.
