OKay, everybody... njnetsdude34 has made the fatal mistake of writing two stupid things on a mysteryburrito comments page so far. I move to appoint him to the position of "Public enemy #1". This is just for mysteryburrito. Anybody in favor?? :)
I knew how to do that, from a failed attempt of catching an elevator. Great trick when there's people inside, and you wait until you hear people getting nervous, then you let the doors go, and let the thing travel on it's way. Done it many times.
Funny thing, most elevators I did this trick on, would simply reopen, not continue on its way.
With the age of our elevators, you do that, and can find yourself looking out into the shaft. (I think its been forced open a few too many times, due to them getting stuck)
Nice idea, keefster, but engineers (like myself) have thought about this, and the elevator is programmed not to leave until it senses that both sets of doors (internal and external) have successfully closed. I could see where someone would think that. But not possible.
You are indeed correct. Well done, engineer, well done. We have done everything from spray painting the inside doors to simply leaving them propped open. :)
I just thought of something terrible that could happen from this. You keep the doors from closing, and the real elevator takes off, leaving a huge hole for somebody to fall through. Hot damn...
lololol imagine what the people think if you do what i said in my other comment (so the lift is gone) and they want to go up or down but the lift is just... just.. gone lol and... lol at ur comment none of em work :P
lol, if u do this first press a button so the lift goes up and then step out the lift quickly and do it Lmao if someone walkes bye they think "WTF" (do it at all the lifts :P)

you should press a floor button, get out, do that, then leave it. =huge open shaft for anyone to see.
MasterMaxD 1 year ago
... and if the lift moves to another floor how would you feel about someone falling to their death by stepping into and empty elevator shaft?
bustermk2 2 years ago
Could you trap people inside the lift doing this?
If so I don't think this would be particularly funny.

Yes. Wait until like a whole bunch (like 5) of people get in and then hold them open.... cause the elevator won't move and then they'll freak out.

Of course! :) What we like to do is to stop all of the elevators in a large building so none of them work. :):)
