@eatthemoon13 I've played it in Three different tbe amps, and it sucks low end a tiny bit from my mesa rectoverb.... but then agian... most fuzz pedals do. My rivera s120 and my vox nighttrain were perfect with this pedal. My solution with the rectoverb was to turn the bass up on the amp (as it has more than enough).
Sounds like Corrosion of Conformity in a box....all you need is Pepper Keenan singing along with it and you have a band right there! Nice...I hate fuzz because it does not feel good on the fingers...this one feels good through my monitor...that says alot!
I can't believe how many people recognize '21'st Century Schizoid Man' by King Crimson, which surely beats the hell outta most of the 'grungy' crap I hear in so many pedal demos. Good on ya Andy.
I love your pedals Devi, only you can make a pedal that make me sound like my guitar was dropped in lair of sick badgers that pissed and puked on it for weeks until a brave Mexican fireman managed to retrieve it but unfortunately he dropped on the highway and it got squashed by a lorry. Or sometimes they make me sound like I got confused and brought a 1992 fax machine to the gig instead of the guitar. I hate conventionality and thats why I use your pedals!
dont know how i found this video. dont know where it came from. but once i discovered this pedal, I took me a week to make enough money just to buy it. Win.
this or the shoegazer? This is only $100 while the shoegazer is $200. Money is an option. I like to play all kinds of grunge, nirvana, pumpkins, beck, electric wizard etc. I already have a big muff
I have a Hyperion and a Big Muff, true the muff has more control, but the devi has more balls and grit. Also it's way louder with the boost, and it has a natural gate. Both cool pedals though.
Yeah, Schizoid Man. Awesome. Nice sounding pedal. Me want. I've got a Nick Nitro, which is quite cool. But the simplicity of this looks nice, and sounds like it can handle chords quite well, which is unusual for a fuzz based pedal...?
electric wizard and crimson? andy does it again... damn i want to start a band with this guy. half the reason i watch these is to see what badass stuff he's gonna play.
I got a Hyperion and single coil guitars, sucks. Idk about the soda meiser. Check out her Supermassive blackhole too. I haven't tried my Hyperion with humbuckers yet though. The pedal just sucks a lot of low end sound off, in other words, it comes out all trebble no bass. Great for lead, bad for rhythm.
I love this pedal. If you turn your gtr volume down to where is juuuuuuuuuust overcomes the gate, you get a really great starved sound with quick decay. Run an OD after it and you can get some really whacky sounds.
It also likes to see dirt in front of it too. It clobbers the gate and gives you tremendous amounts of sustain. It's great for lead playing.
@maximpatrich Dude you can't be serious. Youtube compresses the sound so much that you never hear the all the dynamics. You should never make a decision based on youtube.
sounds nothing like mine with the control all the way up.
ilikeminebetter:) it kind of explodes. like in devi's video. its an awesome pedal. you can get 8 bit sounds by turning the volume almost all the way down.
Sounds like my Muff.....admittedly I think the prior owner mod'd my muff a little bit because it sounds different from the last three Muff's I've owned...but that's what my current Muff does.
Huh, I really like this compared to the rest of Devi Ever's stuff; for some reason I can't get into it. But this one actually sounds pretty good, and usable. Very woolly, if that makes sense.
I like this sucker a lot... but I really want to get The Legend of Fuzz... Partially because it has sharp, destructive fuzz tones... and partly because I was a HUGE Legend of Zelda fan growing up...
frickin' love this pedal, it's become my main fuzz very quickly. Just dunno if I'm using it to its full potential because I keep it at unity gain and that's so low on the volume knob....
@PrsFenderJackson1980 try a bunch of pedals out and find out what sounds best for you and your style of music (except BOSS od/d/f pedals, avoid at all cost. also If you want a death metal sound buy a dan electro FAB metal so you dont waste money on a pedal thats going to make the same sort of sound anyway), having active pickups doesnt limit you to one kind of od/d/f sounding good.
@PrsFenderJackson1980 i have emg81/60 on my jackson and am looking for a solid distortion aswell. i heard that the ibanez ts9 is the way to go, but i have yet to try 1
@PrsFenderJackson1980 im looking for that also. as i have a boss metal zone but it is a bit too noisy(cant really make out much) i heard the ibanez ts9 is the way to go for that. but i hav yet to try 1 for myself
TS-9s are excellent pedals for Blues and Classic Rock. They have a nice, light-medium gain that adds warm, rich distortion, especially to humbuckers. However, if Metal or other heavy music is your goal, the TS-9 probably won't be able to get you there. You'll need more gain and ideally, a way to scoop your mids.
Not really - if your amp is already heavy as hell, the TS-9 is a perfect push over the cliff for solos. Adam D from Killswitch Engage uses one with his ridiculously heavy Mesa Boogie Rig.
@KG739 I don't know if anyone has already answered your comment, but I thought I'd let you know that very few heavy players use the TS9 for it's distortion. It's usually referenced more for it's "boosting" properties. In other words, they run it into a setup that's already capable of high gain, and use to push it a little further over the top. Look for a good high gain amp first.
Active pickups and Fuzz don't mix man.. At least not high impedance input type fuzzes like Fuzz Faces.
This one metal producer (he did Trivium, don't know his name) said he uses a TS set pretty much clean as a sort of buffer into a dirty amp for more chugging power. Think of it, the TS freq range is PERFECT for cutting through the mix!

doesnt come close to the big muff. This produced such a small sound.
maximpatrich 2 years ago 3
Yeah i own one. I have to try a big muff.
The reason it doesn't compare is because it take a lot of the low end out as common with most fuzz pedals. Other than the big muff.
This pedal can be used with bass too. Which can make up for some lost low ends.

i enjoy devi's pedals. a lot actually. i have the hyperion and the rocket.
but i will say, they are very much one-trick-ponies.
and in a full band situation (there's five of us) it doesn't sit in the mix, you have to be louder than everything by a long shot to be heard.
but for experimenting /recording i really like these pedals. hopefully my two cents will help anyone on the fence.
