What's going on in the debate? It seems like Matatics is trying to avoid the fact that Mary had children other than Jesus, and that the Greek word 'adelphos/e' does not have to mean brother or sister.
(By the way, doesn't the Apocrypha say Jesus had older brothers who dared Him to turn clay pigeons into real ones?)
@AchillesShield sorry...that's not in the Bible. God tells us "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16)
Thomas isn't in there as a Gospel. If it were good enough for the above it would have been added into God's word. It wasn't, and God knowing all things, we can assume it wasn't written with the best of intentions and expectations by the Holy Spirit.
@TheFreedomMinistry I know. I just wondered whether the Apocrypha - which Rome considers inspired - contradicts the Perpetual Virginity.
Check out I Cor 7:3-7. It forbids married couples from withholding sex INDEFINITELY (N.B. v. 6 Paul is commenting on marriage itself, not abstinence within it). If Mary WAS a Perpetual Virgin she sinned, contradicting Rome's claim of her freedom from original sin (Immaculate Conception). Yet Rome holds BOTH claims as infallible dogmas!
@Onetruthrgv Agreed about that debate. It was in watching it 3 years ago that I realized just how arbitrary Rome's claims about "apostolic tradition" was. Pacwa's non-answer to the Lumen Gentium vs Unam Sanctum pretty well lost him the debate.
Glory be to God, it was watching this debate that made me realize that I could not part of the RCC and KNOW that it is not God's true Church.

@Tripp9 Actually, I've found out that it comes from the 'Gospel' of Thomas.
