I wasn't into it at first. I actually thought the album Thank You Happy Birthday was a little too 'noisy', (except some songs like Flow Rubber Ball or Shake Me Down) compared to the first one. Urgh how could I have doubts on this incredible band, I hate myself for that. So amazing.
@TheErikaMorgan Ya dude this song is totally making fun of hipsters. ha ha And pretty soon being a hipster will become mainstream so that whole phad will dissolve.
To anyone reading this comment, Shake Me Down is a nomination for best Rock Video for the MTV Video Music Awards, please vote for these guys on MTV's website. These guys put their heart and soul into their music and deserve the award. So please make this message visible or at least spread the word. Let's make Cage the Elephant the next big band. Thanks :D
What I can gather past the 2 minute mark: AAAAAAAAAAAAAH(x3) I GOT I GOTTA GO DOWN TO THE SCHOOLHOUSE AND GET SUM AND AND AND GET SUM SHOES AND THE RIGHT HAIRCUT GET THE RIGHT HAIRCUT AND AND AND THEN I'LL I'LL PUT THE SHOES ON MY FEET *unintelligible muttering* THE RIGHT HAIRCUT *screaming noises* *noises that resemble someone in the process of being fucked* so cool, yeah, so cool... yeah. so cool, yeah... I wanna be just like you... so cool, yeah, so cool...
Sorry, but this album sounds like shite compared to the original. Perhaps if the instrumentals didn't become a punk Beach Boys and the vocals didn't eat a fork infested with rabies I could enjoy the thing, but the lyrics don't mean anything anymore, nor are they even understandable... Sorry Cage the Elephant, I just miss the bad ass music from the first album... the crying little temper tantrum in this one just doesn't do it for me.
@LieutenantOBrien and let the "this band went downhill" comments begin. a little early in their musical careers to judge them like that dont ya think?
@LieutenantOBrien thats what i thought at first. their first album sounds like more of my taste in music. but just give this album a chance and youll realize its great. this album is more experimental punk in some songs (indy kidz, sell yourself, sabertooth tiger) and more soothing in others (aberdeen, shake me down, right before my eyes) and japenese buffalo is a combination, fast punky AND melodic. you'll love it soon, trust
@LieutenantOBrien If you don't like it that's understandable. I don't think this album i meant to be able to be listened to by all types of people. I understand where you're coming from. It is definitively different than their first album. But this song is one of the worst songs on the album in my opinion. Shake Me Down, Aberdeen, both great songs. But no need to judge. They're young
To be fair I would take hipsters to the side and shoot them or even better stone them to death...I'm an indie and hipsters just stole our way and turned it to shite giving us a bad na,e
@TaffyRaphie and then after they'd talk about how much of individuals they are not liking a genre of music... after being at a show with thousands of others lol......
@Mbsmoothie Listen to yourself. "I love taking shots at hipsters"? Yeah, go ahead, target a group and beat the shit out of them, just like we do with all the other scenes. You know, I hate scene kids and hipsters and any other fashion trend as much as the next guy, but this is just being an asshole about it. You're probably part of some trend that someone else hates, so be careful with what you say... Though, this is a good song about a scene that doesn't really know itself...
@CrazyKrafty they said this album they were goin away from mainstream so they can probably get people who dont know good music like yourself away from the people that actually like them. (like myself so i thank them) have fun with your fall out boy n panic at the disco S$%#. CTE ALL DAY.
@CrazyKrafty sucks" "these" Buttsocks? i think thats a condom for most guys but probably what your boyfriend wears when banging you in the ass. :D Thanks come again.
-Heartmelts- I love these guys so much. and yeah all you ppl who are talkin bout the steriostypes. I hate when ppl try to fit ONE persona. I am a teen and i have multiple diffrent personas depends on who im around but the one i am always around with is the one i created all on my own.
Probably kind of obvious. But I am totally confident that this is about kids today who see "cool" labels on the internet and want to fit the stereotype to try being accepted.
My school is filled with people who claim to be "emo" or "scene" or some bullshit because they see it on the internet.
And that they will go through extreme measures to fit the stereotype. I hate hate hate it.
so when i heard that cage the elephant was coming out with a new album, i was endlessly excited.. now that i hear it.. it is not what i expected, but it sticks to what i liked about them in the first place, which was their obvious influence from classic rock and overall good music... excellent.. metal-ish influence here i suppose? definitely good shit here though
