Having played all the games, read the manuals, and the background info. . . no. No, the helghast are the bad guys. They look cool and have cool shit and they got a cool leader but they are very clearly the bad guys and scum.
Like ISA wasn't doing horrible things. Remember that on Killzone 2 the plan A is to bombard the whole Helghast capital city into rubble. Also lets not forget that it was ISA in the first place that placed the foundation for Helgan and their resentment on humanity. And did you see any Helgan prisoners on the game?
Helgan were people who first settled the planet Vekta and Helgan. Helgan generated raw material that fuelled an economic boom on Vekta. ISA didn't like that one of their colonies was shadowing others and said to Helgasth to stop being succesfull. Well Helghast didn't want to drop the fruit of their work, so war started where ISA kicked Helghast to die on Helgan and tool Vekta for itself.

When Earth (UCN) founded the colonies in Alpha Centuari they discovered that it would be too much for them to handle, so they allowed a company to buy the star system but in return they would have to make enough money for the company and Earth. The Helghan Corporation settled on Vekta and Helghan. The ISA is a local star system military force (like a milita) Vekta was the corporate HQ and Helghan was where most of the manufacturing was done.

Then a few years later some ex employees of the corporation fought a guerilla war, and the Vektan governer gave them some old starships

The people then landed on Helghan, and the ISA told Earth...which Earth said "Ok, if they survive then they survive we will not help them and neither will Vekta. Do not send any aid if the colony survives it survives" The colony almost collapsed but it did survive, however in the late 2220's

Hopefully they'll do a remake of the first game for PC as well as make it also available for us non-console players! I played the first version of this game before my Playstation 1 kicked the can; this game was poorly made/repetitive but had potential as Killzone 3 proved [though I've never played it just saw the game cut scenes] there were hints of a comic book but seemed it was never printed unless I'm mistaken...

I got Chills listening to that. If you think about it both the ISA and the Helghast were wrong. The humans were wrong because they left their own people on that harsh planet, now named Helghan. @AndyTarbell you must remember that the ISA took Veckta by force from the Helghan Corporation which had rightfully had control of it in the first place. Then the ISA forced all members of the Helghan corporation to relocate to Helgan.

I got Chills listening to that. If you think about it both the ISA and the Helghast were wrong. The humans were wrong because they left their own people on that harsh planet, now named Helghan. The Helghan are bad because they invaded Vekta and killed millions of humans and Visari took part in mass genocide when he nuked Pyhrrus. On the other hand Helghast are still bad ass. Also Visari is supposed to be like Hitler. Just like when Hitler rose to power when Germany was in turmoil as did Visari.

After seeing their back story,art, (weapon testing on their own people,no individualism?) and getting a good look at what they look like all I appreciate about them is their sense of style. @Rise519 Here's how: Helghan was originally a corporation, it had a stranglehold on profits in a few systems, now, the ISA did not like that one bit, having to pay out to get through(or even trade) so they took Vekta, and startewd a war with the Helghan corporation, they got ousted from Vekta and got stuck on Helghan, next, Helghans invade Vekta.

@Rise519 they were a company originally, they had a way to get rich, the ISA were being greedy, actually, they DESTOYED that corporation to get a free pass, and they wanted revenge, now, you could TRY to relate this to Germany, but Germany was a major player in WWI, they didn't start the war(one of their allies did, forgot who) but here, the Helghast were the victims.

@Rise519 Also, unlike the Nazi's, the Helghast did not blame a race, they blamed a greedy government of another planetary power, the people you see being executed were being killed for their wishing to make peace with the ISA, but, doing so would be shameful, they care not if you were a citizens of the ISa, as long as you followed their ideals, you were not an enemy, unlike the Nazi's(if you are a Jew or someone who does not follow us but mainly a Jew, your an enemy of our nation)
