A lot of people laugh at his scenes in this film, in fact friends and I often quote his lines. It's just funny to some people.

It's a bit more on the side of reality television/"Intervention" meth addict IMO. Most meth addicts aren't in enough touch with reality to pull off kung-fu moves, but I understand it was done for "shock factor" for a Hollywood movie.

I found a lot of humor in some of these scenes, not because Foster overacted, but because the character is eccentric and funny. This was a daring performance in the sense that a lot of actors would be afraid to take it that far, for fear of not being taken seriously. But as you said, this is a subjective matter and you're obviously entitled to your opinion.
