This movie is supposed to be set in Wismar... I have never been neither to Wismar nor Delft (though I'd love to) but yesterday I was watching this movie and said to myself "Heey, that city looks exactly the same as that of 'Girl with a pearl earring'" And it is the same city! haha, loved it.
Werner Herzog......Klaus Kinski..Isabelle adjani..Bruno Ganz...and zinskaro...It doesnt get better........thanks for posting..........It Really is a masterpiece
The music at the end;when the party at street takes place, its the same that appears in the Queen Margot, also starring Isabelle Adjani. Great film, sadly not complete here in Youtube.Thank you for posting it.
The song is called "Zinskaro" and is sung by the "Vocal ensemble Gordela" (Georgia). Is a wonderfull song and it also appears in the Kate Bush 1985 album "Hounds of love", specifically in the song "Hello earth". Regards.
Isabelle adjani - ive loved her since 1979 - when I was 10 trs old, LOL this is a remake of the murnau classic - but I think this is also a masterpiece , like a macabre fairytale -the entire film seems to be unreal , ethereal - like a dream you have when your running a fever ,
Unbelievable, but the great choir at the end of the clip (05:33) is a georgian love song called ts'ints'qaro. You can find it on CD's of the Ensemble Georgika
there is another part in the movie where the same Georgian folk song 'cinckaro' is used (part with flying bat). Strange use of this love song:) but still..sound goes so well with d scene. Gives me chills!
Yes I would love to see the bat scene with cinckaro/zinskaro/ts'ints'qaro. Does anyone have it?? This scene is one of the first things I searched for on Youtube when I first heard about it. It wasn't here when I got here and at some point I stopped looking. Until yesterday!
Yes, you should! The best scene of Delft (in my opinion) is when the ship arrives in the harbor and the rats start coming off the ship onto the streets of Delft by climbing down the ship's ropes.
I think the problem is that it is dubbed into English. It should be in the Original German with Subtitles. The German Language suits this film much better.
to peymaania: funnily enough, it isn't dubbed - it was shot TWICE (don't ask why, no idea, search the google for a start); every scene was repeated twice, once in english and once in german (dutch actors were of course dubbed anyway), so if you have both versions, just play the Lucy/Nosferatu bathroom scenes and you'll notice in the german version a small error - a reflection of Kinski in the mirror, while in the english one Adjani did ok in covering him.
P.S. also, in the short but quite interesting "on location" documentary you can see Ganz & Kinski and later Adjani all rehearsing in english... I do agree with you that in german sounds better, though.
What a wonderful film! Herzog truly made a wonderful remake! I dont understand why so many people dislike and/or trash this film? Its a wonderful work of cinema and a true and engrossing period piece! The characters, setting, music; it all works together so well!!!
to satanel: yup, it's Gordela's version of traditional Georgian song, "Cinckaro" (or "Tsintskaro", depends on where you're from and how you say it). Just type for instance "zinskaro gonashvili" in the youtube's searchbox, and you'll hear an even better version by the late great Hamlet Gonashvili.

3:38 i like the layout of the square - it looks much better organized than it is today, all covered in coffees and restaurant tables.

6.36 - the guy in the hood in the top left of the frame apparently is Herzog himself directing the action from within the scene.

But that isn't the version from the film is it? Or is that what Ansambl Gordella is in English? That recording is very hard to find.

Not sure if it's the same, but search youtube for Hamlet Gonashvili Cincyaro
pixiemotion 3 years ago
Thank you - it is not the same, but it is also quite beautiful. I found a clip of the film scene here on Youtube with only cinskaro! Fantastic.

stunning locations, a very realistic portrayal, and the details tie it all together. They really had the concept down right down to the direction.

That's nice. Kate bush ones used the music that begins on 5:50, for her song Hello Earth. And I am a big fan.
Next to that, I was born in Delft. I still live there. I think I should see this movie.

does ne1 know where i can find the song that's at 0:19?

I think it's "Der Ruf der Rohrflöte" by the german band Popol Vuh. You find the track on
"Nosferatu"-Original Soundtrack

Wonderful movie, Kinski/Herzog's masterpiece.
This scene is full of a strange aesthetical decay and morbidity. Does anybody know, what music it is, beginning at 5:33 ? Maybe it's
"Vocal Ensemble Gordela"
