I had a choice between a Ferrari but got an m3 instead, mostly because I like having all the options.. Ferrari is race car with an ac and radio..it can get boring after the cool factor wears off.. You wont get a radio with a hard drive, apps, internet, weather, dvd player, dealership locations, .. all the cool stuff that makes cars fun in the long run.... F40 is still my dream car... but im only 26 so i like gadgets, and the electronics. and i dont feel like driing 3 hours for service

The v8 m3 sucks. It was a mistake from BMW. It should have been a turbo. This is why a 135i with software will crush the m3. Maybe the next model will be better. Until then, the 335i is best in the 3 series segment.
@al3x440 You are obviously not aware of the performance of the 135i. There is a link to their drag times below. 11.1 is the fastest listed using factory turbos. As for the e92 M3, the fastest listed is 11.4 with the supercharger added. e92 M3 is irrelevant to performance enthusiasts. It is more expensive, and slower. It cannot compete w/ the cts v, the gtr, or the c63, but it is similarly priced. A properly modded 135i with beat these cars.
i am impressed. i do love the 550 maranello because of it's looks and sound, but i would get the superamerica or the 355 or the 458 italia instead. but i love the M3. since i got one as well. the m3 is THE ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE!

The Ferrari is indeed, going to win it but when the M3 with 6-speed manual gerbox can keep up with the 550, that's a big achievement for the M3. Without any doubt, IF the 550 can get a right and more experience driver with better SHIFTING ability, I'm pretty sure it could've gone a lot further :)
The M3 is a better car and always will be. Now if you get the all NEW Ferrari Italia then you're the man until then let's not get all excited by beating an M3. It wasn't by much and truth be told the Ferrari breaks down often brakes cost an arm and a leg and yes the Nissan GT-R can beat both cars without breaking a sweat. But still it's not always about speed it's how you look in a car. Ferrari 550 is nothing to scream about or write home about.

I like M3s but you have to admit all BMW kinda look the same. The average person in the streets wouldn't even know you drive such a fast car.

The v8 m3 sucks. It was a mistake from BMW. It should have been a turbo. This is why a 135i with software will crush the m3. Maybe the next model will be better. Until then, the 335i is best in the 3 series segment.

@al3x440 You are obviously not aware of the performance of the 135i. There is a link to their drag times below. 11.1 is the fastest listed using factory turbos. As for the e92 M3, the fastest listed is 11.4 with the supercharger added. e92 M3 is irrelevant to performance enthusiasts. It is more expensive, and slower. It cannot compete w/ the cts v, the gtr, or the c63, but it is similarly priced. A properly modded 135i with beat these cars.

not fair to put vs m3..put vs m5 e39 and put a better driver in Ferrari..also a 575 with sequential gearbox would do way better

i am impressed. i do love the 550 maranello because of it's looks and sound, but i would get the superamerica or the 355 or the 458 italia instead. but i love the M3. since i got one as well. the m3 is THE ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE!

a 56K car can keep up with over 160,000K car. You put 30K worth of mods in M3, and that thing will kill both GTR and Ferrari California! hahahaha. But unfortunately, i don't see too many M3 modded. I don't blame them....who wants to mess with BMW's beautiful v8 engine!

@RoyZeed - why should they feel themselves like that? They own collectible peace of engineering that will only grow in price - drag racing is just for fun - it does not prove anything:)) you can tune your BMW to reach hights of a Mclaren or Bugatti - but it will always be just a BMW...

Wow, the M3 missed the 3rd-4th shift pretty bad... 0:29... look at the front wheel arch hopping as he tries to get it back in gear. Fun race though.

The Ferrari is indeed, going to win it but when the M3 with 6-speed manual gerbox can keep up with the 550, that's a big achievement for the M3. Without any doubt, IF the 550 can get a right and more experience driver with better SHIFTING ability, I'm pretty sure it could've gone a lot further :)

Ferrari might have better top end but the top end is rarely seen on a track and an M3 would completely murder it around one based on handling alone.

The M3 is a better car and always will be. Now if you get the all NEW Ferrari Italia then you're the man until then let's not get all excited by beating an M3. It wasn't by much and truth be told the Ferrari breaks down often brakes cost an arm and a leg and yes the Nissan GT-R can beat both cars without breaking a sweat. But still it's not always about speed it's how you look in a car. Ferrari 550 is nothing to scream about or write home about.
