Hey misterpitbull the fastest stock zr1 is supposedly 10.98 and the super snake 10.18 stock and tires so who faster and the ford gt does beat the zr1 its been proven over and over. And it's a faster car on the top end

I keep seeing everyone in the comments talk about the Corvette ZR1 and i hate to break it to you all but the two aren't in the same class. Shelby GT500 Super Snake is a MUSCLE CAR, Corvette ZR1 is a SUPERCAR, comparing the two is like comparing a Vauxhaull Astra to a Pagoni Zonda

@elemental212 No actually they tried that one on motorweek. It was close but ZR1 was quicker to 60 by .2 seconds and quarter mile by .1 second. Yet the ZR1 costs about 40K less. The ZO6 is still faster than the Ford GT but doesnt need a supercharger. Sad for you Ford fan boys but I'll have to say the new 5.0 is impressive.

Actually the ZR1 was built AFTER the Ford GT, and they are pretty close, I would say down to the driver. If you put a GREAT driver in the GT and your mom in the Vette, then the GT will (probably) win! Switch them around....and you will get the opposite effect.

Nice car but definitely not worth the $80,000,I bought a used 2006 Mustang GT with 3,200 miles on it,garaged for 3 years,showroom condition for $18,200,put an edelbrock supercharger on it,headers,high flow cats,cherry bomb mufflers,and comp cams,running low low 12s, high 11s.Spent a total with car around $27,000,472 RWHP not bad for a used car and a few mods.Goes to show ya buy a used GT and put few mods into it and it will smoke a GT500 and not to far from the supersnake for way less money.

Please stop comparing the zr1 to this car, one is a muscle car 4 seater and the other is a sports car 2 seater. Every one has different taste, but I'm 100 % into muscle cars, and wouldn't trade one for anything, and considering this is the baddest one, no way I would trade her for a zr1. If you love a car only for the #s it makes, then I don't believe your enthusiasm and love for cars is real.

Car and Driver recorded a 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds and 1/4 mile in 11.8 seconds at 122 mph in their March 2007 comparison test. there is no Z06 running 10s on stock tires or with slicks even. you cant slash off alomst 2s with just tires. it is a great car but not that great. it took teh ZR1 to keep them in teh super car class

The car was running low12's with the TC on. It was the cars first pass even. The track prep was crap that night also. The owner mostly was there to run his 1000hp C6 z06 that runs 9's.

@rocky440 LOL..all carbon fiber?? You are clueless! Only a few body panels have carbon fiber. The rear quarter panel are same old fiber glass plastic. All the chassis frame, engine etc. are still alumimum just like any other car. The interior is same plastic as any other Corvette.

I know the vette started as a muscle car and it still knows its roots but its much more sophisticated now, carbon brakes, magnetic shocks, carbon fiber body, etc. I love them to death, but not fair to compare. I am a chevy man but i do love those super snakes, and the KRs but not the base model so much. i drove the 5.0 a few times, its not bad.

Besides real racing isnt in a straight line, and i'd LOVE to see that snake cut corners and handle anywhere near as good as the zr1. A super snake is just a straight line shooter, nothing more. But aside from all that I still love the Shelby, I'd take it over my car any day =).

Corvette blog has posted one at a quicker time, and it was validated by track officials. Why provide more proof that you're just not even going to look into?

The car was running low12's with the TC on. It was the cars first pass even. The track prep was crap that night also. The owner mostly was there to run his 1000hp C6 z06 that runs 9's.

Bottom line is comparing vettes to mustangs is like comparing Tyson in his prime to my 7 year old cousin who wants to be a boxer. It's just unfair. Yet the stang has a supercharger haha. @rocky440 very true but if you take a zr1 vs a 2010 super snake rolling at about 40 mph the super snake will eat it alive cause the zr1 has 638 and the super snake at the dyno puts out 763 so it will beet its ass while rolling but if you take it to a stop light the zr1 will win cause of better traction and its lighter but the super snake will catch it at the end thats what mustang are known for

@rocky440 LOL..all carbon fiber?? You are clueless! Only a few body panels have carbon fiber. The rear quarter panel are same old fiber glass plastic. All the chassis frame, engine etc. are still alumimum just like any other car. The interior is same plastic as any other Corvette.

@Beck9018 Not even the same class of car man, dont compare those. High end sports/super car vs muscle car. I know the vette started as a muscle car and it still knows its roots but its much more sophisticated now, carbon brakes, magnetic shocks, carbon fiber body, etc. I love them to death, but not fair to compare. I am a chevy man but i do love those super snakes, and the KRs but not the base model so much. i drove the 5.0 a few times, its not bad.

@Beck9018 are you out of your mind dude you take then both rolling at around 55 mph and the NEW super snake with 750 hp would eat it alive no dout i am not against vette's i havent been a fan of them sense the new zr1 and i was shocked because of how fast it was now if you take a zr1 and a super snake and they were both stopped yes the zr1 would most likely beet it (deepening on the drivers) but the mustang would prolly chatch it at the end it always does lol

@guitarpro48 maybe as far as numbers go, yeah you'd thinnk that a whopping 750 horsepower would have to catch up to the vette's 638 hp in the long run, but honestly that's probly gonna take more than a little 1/4 mile. Besides real racing isnt in a straight line, and i'd LOVE to see that snake cut corners and handle anywhere near as good as the zr1. A super snake is just a straight line shooter, nothing more. But aside from all that I still love the Shelby, I'd take it over my car any day =).

@northerncustomsracin yes it is zR1, the last zL-1's i've seen were made in 1969 look it up, and my first car was a 94 Mercury cougar (by Ford), never liked it much. Dont get me wrong about Ford though, i have a lot of respect for the company, they're obviously a great manufacturer if they've been around so long. My personal preference is just Chevy, but I was merely stating facts not opinion on the overall performance of the super snake vs. the new ZR-1 corvette. Excuse me if I offended you.
