  • Shopping in the bullring centre is a GAY adventure. Hilarious.

  • @terrytibs1977 Gay had a different meaning then, it meant 'happy'. It made me chuckle though as well lol :-D

  • Classic Stuff..thanks for posting

  • Im a video editor and Id like to say to anyone out there if you have footage like this please contact me as I would love to put something together to celebrate such great history rather then depress our heratage. We have great stuff from the 1900s from the 60s to today.Lets celebrate it and use it to bring people in rather then depress people. We have a great history..lets continue that..

  • I really miss the old Bullring, it used to be great up there in the 90s. It might have been a bit tatty and rundown, but it had far more character than what replaced it.

  • Gosh your car would be taken at gun point now and stored on a ferry to poland..wish we could turn things back..just to when the rott started to come in ..opps imean set in

  • Its a shame the corporations have taken over and the market Traders have been pushed to the side. They were the heart and soul of the Bull Ring and a big part of Brums History,They got pushed out onto Edgebaston Street and some have closed do to high rents for there stall. Now it looks like they are getting pushed out again due to the south side Regeneration project. The wholesale market is due to be pulled down aswell.Market traders fought hard 20 years ago when they saw this coming.

  • B.ham full of shite..Sellfridges,strange building with dustbin lids stuck to the outside, dont know whats worse old days or now..

  • That was Richard Baker doing the commentary. Just out of interest, what year was this? It looks like very early '60s.

  • yea but Jordan the same thing was said about the previouse centre back in the 60s.30 years from now somebody else will say the same thing about the current Bulring. Its part of our history and im proud of it as a Brummie.

  • I don't really understan any of the nostalgia for the old bullring as I never saw or hard of it. You haveto look at it this way, the new/current one has put Birmingham on the map. People back home in London were talking about it and despite having lkeside and bluewater at the time people were/aremaing an effort o come and visit the city. I think its generated a lot of tourism.

  • my grandad who was 108 when he died, was a true brummy, hard workin , loyal, respectful ( I know you lads love that word!) and didnt have a fight with know one , SHAME ON YOU>>>> get a grip and live your lives with some fuckin respect.

  • The real Characters were in the indoor and Rag Markets.I was lucky enough to work there back in the day and had the priverlage od working there.I would give my left bollock to go back to them days.

  • they totally fucked up the bull ring now. i remember in the 90's, was wicked then.

  • Listen to the commentary from 0:17 to 0:20!!!! 'shopping in the bullring is a gay adventure'-oooo i say!!!

  • bloody brill many thanks

  • Torriador sorry.I worked in the markets when i was a kid in a market store called Pets Choice ran by my uncle and Auntie.Great memories. The Torry was located were Sports World is now opposite the Rag market.

  • I remember the Toriador my mate use to go there it was like a sawdust joint were all the characters would meet and the bar actually had a market store look which fitted in well.I only went in a few times.

  • hate the new bull ring.

  • Does anyone remember the matador and the torriador pubs. Thats where you found the real characters of the bull ring.

  • Matador was opposite the rag market,Torriador round the corner up the curly ramp, above the fish market, right?

  • I loved the old Bullring, it had character. The new one is horrible. Just a big blob of silver discs on it. Modern buildings aren't class, they're lazy minds trying to make a simple design brilliant.

    Utterly miss the old one..

  • I miss the old Bullring too. The new one is a joyless shrine to the crass "New Labour", Hello & OK readers' generation. That hideous silver disc building will be a laughing stock in a few years.

  • @kimandaggie that silver disc building is a landmark. It is one broad thing I can see on the map and say, hey that's Birmingham!

  • Many people forget this but back in the 60s Bull Ring was a modern state of the art buliding.Say what you want about the old Ring but in its heyday it was a Big shopping attraction for many years attracting millions of people a year from all over the world also.People forget these things when they knock that Building.

  • Somebody told me before they destroyed the old Building that when they demolish Bull Ring it will be the end of an era and it really was.The new Bullring looks fantastic and fits in with todays society and i do miss them days but you have to move on with the times.Doesnt meen you have to forget what it was or your own memories.I was a barrer boy for my Auntie and Uncle and they worked my ass every saturday 9 and a half hours for £15.Great times.

  • MISS THAT OLD BULL RING

  • class i miss it too but it would look a right state now, memories of mark 1,and the row of shops above the market, summit(record shop)sex shop, chippy at the end, there was a couple more forget what they were now

  • I miss the old bullring it was cheap and cheerful and had many characters and ordinary brummies, but I guess it didnt do our image towards the end.

  • I remember the old Bullring back in the day!I worked there in the early 90s when i was only 16 in the markets for a family buisness called pets choice. I had some Great memories and made some good friends some of which are not here anymore but the centre was old and it did need to come down. I wonder if the new centre will end up like that 30 years from now?

  • cause your a numbskull!!

  • At the Bullring shopping centre, thers a smile on every face, from the moment that you enter, you know its a friendly place, there are shops galore and so much more and the famous indoor market, come by bus or come by car thers a place where you can park it.Its the place to come with the family, one stop shopping variety, pubs and restaurants if you want a snak, once youve been youll want to come back, whatever you want youll find it at,the Bullring shopping centre!

  • why the f*** did that stay with me for so many years!!!
