It's amazing how someone that has the imagination and the verbal ability to express it can put you in another place and time. Don't you just love going places you've never been before? I do.... Thanks Tom for all the trips you have let me take.
Tom T. Hall was a song writer and didn't even sing half of his songs. There are so many Country Greats owe their career to the pen of Tom T. Hall! DRINK SQUIRT! g
Shel Silverstein was brilliant, very creative. He wrote a lot of great songs for Bobby Bare, Dr. Hook and others. I didn't know about this one until I happened across it here. TTH does a great job on it. Thanks for posting it.
I love the mention of Audie murphy, the late, great, war hero, and favourite Cowboy actor of mine. Such a well written song by Shel Silverstein. could have been one Tom wrote himself. I have it by "The Old Dogs" Mel, Bobby, Jerry, and Waylon. first time hearing it by Tom T.
first time ever hearing this by Tom, I have it by the "Old Dogs", (Bobby Bare, Mel Tillis, Jerry Reed and Waylon Jennings) sure sounds like something Tom would have written himself.
@hoopmatch Its on the LP soldier of fortune, you may,if you are lucky and keep looking, find it on a cd of the same name, maybee in some of the "record stores".

Yes, we WILL get through this time. America may have stumbled, but She still lives. November is coming. Get out there and VOTE, my friends.
