There are two types of white South African, the Afrikaaners & the English ones (or saltycocks as the former call them). After living in Africa I can safely say that this vid is very true. I will be 1st to agree that we were an unpleasant bunch. People are more laid back now. We are not all racist. Of course you do still get the racist assholes, but they are in the minority. Unfortunately a very loud and vocal minority. But South Africans in general are very friendly, regardless of race. We have spirit of "ubuntu" (humanity to others). Crime is a big problem at this stage, but once again caused by a minority and ubuntu will help us overcome it.

I'm a white south african who got away from there as soon as I could. Luckily I live somewhere where there are almost none of my former countrymen. Whenever I go back I'm reminded of how awful a culture it is and thank myself for having the good sense to escape.

@antihostile This was in the early days of Spitting Image so to save on budget they often re-used some famous people puppets (the less distinguishable ones, like the Lord Lucan puppet) as just normal people, in this case, the Lord Lucan puppet is re-used as a bartender, as Spitting Image didn't have that much of a budget at the time.
It does get confusing on the first two or three series of Spitting Image, as a puppet will be used when it is not supposed to be the person it is impersonating

True, this song may be considered offensive but that's one of the reasons I loved this series so much.
It's representitive of a time when people in media were allowed to say things like this, before the spectres of censorship and fear of bad taste began to swallow up television.
Now people watch what they say and don't dare do anything riske or outlandish for fear in insulting or offending nayone.
And I think media has become all the poorer for it.

I'm a white south african who got away from there as soon as I could. Luckily I live somewhere where there are almost none of my former countrymen. Whenever I go back I'm reminded of how awful a culture it is and thank myself for having the good sense to escape.

It was hilarious then and it's hilarious now. It's also as true now as it was twenty odd years ago. The point I'm trying to make is that I don't judge all Brits for what their forefathers did in the past, so why should I be judged for what the generation before me did. @antihostile This was in the early days of Spitting Image so to save on budget they often re-used some famous people puppets (the less distinguishable ones, like the Lord Lucan puppet) as just normal people, in this case, the Lord Lucan puppet is re-used as a bartender, as Spitting Image didn't have that much of a budget at the time.
It does get confusing on the first two or three series of Spitting Image, as a puppet will be used when it is not supposed to be the person it is impersonating
