  • Nice video! Thanks for posting it!

  • @ColtDeltaElite10mm

    thanks buddy

  • For people that are curious about the welding parameters of hard facing rod are usually written on the box they are sold on. But with most that i have used, i keep my amperage slightly lower then a then the same size of a low-hydrogen rod, and have my polarity on AC instead of reverse. Mainly because this will reduce dilution of the base metal, and prevent any arc blow which you sometimes might get with these rods. Im a journeymen welder in Canada, Alberta, and been welding for 10 years.

  • @tomis589

yeah , what he said . lol

  • Would a quick cold quench help this to be harder? or is a fast quench not required for this alloy?

  • @rubnayr

    i never heard of anybody

    quenching after using these rods

but i dont do it very much.

  • any particular heat setting because of the hardfacing rod or is it the same as a standard low- hydrogen.

  • @educatedrock i just used regular settings .

but i been wrong before :)

  • Im 14 and i have grown up in the welding bussenis and this friday and saturday i have the task of hardfaceing a whole loader bucket so wish me luck.

  • great video 500 why did you weld the teeth on with a stick welder and not a mig welder.

  • i dont have the need to weld hardened edges that often so it wasnt cost affective to change my mig set up . its cheaper using the rods

  • good video ive bin using mig hardfaceing for years now but i will say that the rods are just has good

  • m encanta la soldadura antidesgaste. (:

    wood job.

  • @sofiarome91

    gracias

  • what quad is in the background with the razr 2 tires?

  • @rc8rsracer

    not sure buddy .

    my nephew races them .

he always got one tore apart :)

  • @500passwords lol sounds like me :)

  • nice back ground tunes every work day needs some joe walsh

  • nice job.

  • thanks buddy

  • we use flux cored mig wire 1.6mm dia for hardfacing. Twice as quick as rods

  • sounds good man , i didnt have enough to do to make it worth setting mig up for fluxcore , and that was the only hard facing rod they had,

i dont use hard facing very much. :) thanks for commenting, 500

  • hey now that is some pretty welds. i notice that the welds were smoothly interlaced, that is very tricky to do! can not wait to see it all mocked up.

  • thanks man . i dont stick weld that often . doing my best

  • that's cheep i never had to buy them my self but i was told over 300 daller a 10 lb box wors than cast rod

  • im sure theres different grade rods , i probably got the cheapest ones.

they were the only hard facing rods they had at praxair in indy

  • if you run a weav patten you will use less rod and it will whear better make x workds well give a place for the drit to stick and then the small lare of dirt is proteting your cutting eages on a small thing like that would not make much diffence. it's just i know how much that rod cost.

  • welcome aboard , thanks for the tips , mines gonna see light use so i wasnt real worried about , gonna replace field tiles in soft dirt. and play around yard

what i do like about using those rods is , if they wear down i can just add more weld.

    thanks for subscribing

  • those rod cost me $6.60 a lb. had to buy 10 lb. can so after tax around 70 bucks , i still got enough left to a bunch of projects .

  • That's a good lookin bucket. I haven't been put on the tig where I work yet but I'm cutting with carbon arc and should be welding soon - watching your metal fab is gettin me pumped up.

  • thanks man , first time you dig the paint gets messed up , thats why i just brushed it .

make some videos cutting with carbon arc .

  • 500, Thanks for posting the bucket hardfacing welding process on your YT channel. Those stick welds look good in my book. I have finally found a project to build. I am looking forward to putting it on YT.

    Rock & Roll!

    John

  • thanks john , cant wait for the project videos.

  • Awesome outcome of the BUCKET!!! Cant wait for the rest...

  • nice video man, i love stick welding, i was hopin you would put up a nice video of the hardened stick weld passes, anticipating your next video, keep em comin man!
