  • he sounds like cris angel when he was talking. at 3:01

  • Brett got distracted by the breathy saxophone..

  • haaaoh haaaaoh haaaaoh! lol

  • at 4:38 fuckin funny :P

  • 2:02 orgasm

  • PLEASE STOP TALKING ABOUT THINGS YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT! . . . Anyone who believes what he is saying, please go read a Vocal Pedagogy (teaching) book. I'm not trying to be negative, but he doesn't know what he's talking about. He's slamming his vocal folds together. He will not be able to sing if he keeps doing this.

  • The Basics of Vocal Pedagogy The Foundations and process of singing by Clifton Ware is a standard university vocal pedagogy book by someone who has ACTUALLY studied the anatomy and needs of different singers. Voice is not a cookie cutter approach. Different singers, different thought process, different abilities. One size or (crazy man above) does not fit all (in his case any).

  • @bekbog I think some of the things he teaches are right, but the fact that one of his students, Hayley Williams, have severly ruined her voice (probably permanently) has turned me off from his teaching.

  • @Tinewashere Comeon, you learn pedagogy from a book, and that is why Universities are cranking out amazing singers, NOT! . and as for Hayley, SHE ruined her own voice probably by being stuipd, and not working with Bret. Don't mock something you don't know! I am classically trained from North western U, and added his technique to my singing and i have never been better and i am in my 40's. Bret is one of the most solid teachers that you must experience to GET IT!

  • @gracekennyblogg Whoa calm down! I don't know much at all about singing, sheesh, it's just a little hobby of mine. If you think he's right, good for you, I can't judge his techniques on a technical level.

Don't take it so personally, and don't be rude. You must understand that as a person who don't know much about singing at all, it seems suspicious that one of his students have ruined their voice.

My God.. Funny how you're in your 40s but act like a 10-year-old!

  • @Tinewashere the reason some of the things he's saying sound right is because he's just repeating what he's heard but using it incorrectly by trying to explain what he doesn't understand. I really hope this doesn't come off as being totally rude, but I can't hold my tongue when his "teaching' is going to cause long term damage and reinforce terrible habits just to gain a profit.

  • keep pressing 9 and repeat

  • He always makes the weirdest songs and im afraid to try any of them for fear that my whole family will hear

  • 2:38 OMG!!!!!

  • Did you smoke a blunt before you made this video? Just sayin'....:P

  • he can be cartoon characters..:)

  • What is the song title for @1:24

  • @MrAlvinSinfulSong Bohemian Rhapsody

  • my head voice has breathy saxophone syndrome. i try to let my head voice resonate in the form of a head voice siren type deal. but its fuzzy sounding a lot of the times. idk how to fix it.?

  • Brett, it seems you shake your throat (vocal chord) when you make vibrato. I thought vibrato was done by diaphragm completely. Whats going on? You confused me.

  • 4:51

And if you look at my face

    HAAAAAAA !!!!

    HEEEEEE !!!

    HOOOOOAAA!!!

    I'm pretty fucking ugly

  • Press STFU

  • hey guy's can somebody help me with something, i cant hit a light head voice i strain in my head there's just way too much strain it feels heavy on my voice and there is no cheast voice in there i try singing softly i try to close my chords but nothing helps i dont know if it is the way i sing i have the singing succsess please i beg somebody i need help?

  • Dear brett if you keep putting up such useful videos on youtube for free, no ones going to buy your program.

  • do i really need to warm up everyday? since i perform everyday. some other singers here don't warm up at all and they sound great. i do warm but sometimes i lack power and my singing level is not as constant as theirs. i'm using the singing success material for about some time now what can i do? what is wrong? i wanna say i progressed a lot

  • you guys should check ken tamplin out he is awesome I swear

  • All these people criticizing brett...When you have a proven track record of over 10 years of successful teaching...some of your students being some of the finest up and coming vocalists...Then you have a platform to speak as a knowledgeable critic. Brett is a proven teacher and artist, He does not have to nail a song perfect for an example. He just needs to be able to demonstrate effectively the techniques he teaches. Which he does so fine.

  • OMG this is what Ive been looking for for exactly 3 months =D I can reach high notes but only when I sing low but its also breathy =O when I try to raise the volume and try to extract the sound from my diaphragm my voice completely cracks and goes into falsetto or which ever goes into very light high voice =/ Im going to try this video but is there anymore suggestions I can get? And Ive always wanted to ask this does it matter if im 17 and im trying to do this? Is my voice fully developed?

  • @lilpunk144 I have that same problem! And it seems that no matter what I do, I just can't fix it! Anything past my bridge sound almost like falsetto.

  • This helped a lot! XD

  • 3.45 HILARIOUS!!

  • what i'd give to work with him.

  • press 4, 9, 4 , 9...

  • @keke12345678 bahah

  • crazy

i cant do that in front of people jejeje

  • wow. im getting a lot of these concepts much better after practicing enough on singing to know what he really means... this is really a great way to check my tone... thank you! :)

  • lol..... i was watchin this video with the sound loud and my big brother came in and hes like "what are u watching!? porn??" and my mom was like what the hell is that??' hahhaa

  • Keep pressing 8 :D

  • I allmost lost my voice doing this?

  • I just keep pressing 5.

  • Mr. Wednesday's right. His cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody" was painfully flat, and terribly whiny. I'm no singer myself, but I can tell good music from bad. And his voice, is very, very bad.

  • @1flickfinder As a singer I must say: There is no such thing as a bad voice! I have never listened to a singer who was technically singing right and sounded awfully. The point is that Manning or whatever his name is, is exaggerating! If he was doing it normally no one would notice what he's actually talking about. Teaching is very much about exaggerating (I'm a French teacher and I also exaggerate, so that my students notice what I'm talking about, after that you can switch back to normal)

  • hey I finally found someone who seems to know what he is talking about!!!!

did you guys include the Joe Estill voice technique?

  • Some of the techniques are good, but this is seriously painful to listen to. His voice is awful and him singing Bohemian Rhapsody made me cringe so bad that I almost threw up. Sure, he may know some techniques, but he doesn't execute them well, and a good singer he isn't.

  • @MrWednesday24 You do understand what song your talking about bohemian rhapsody by no means is an easy song i'd like to see you cover it , just because you can't sing one song doesn't make you a bad singer.

Just because you try to act intelligent on youtube doesn't make your opinion fact.

  • @MartySkies Alright, when I post my cover of Bohemian Rhapsody, I'll be sure to link it to you. Speaking from my experience as a vocal major and spending 80% of my life in music, I feel that I'm pretty well equipped to judge a man on his vocal talent in regards to whether or not it is pleasing to my ear. I'm not saying that he's a bad teacher, and I even said that his techniques were good... he just doesn't execute them well in my opinion. I look forward to your comment on my cover soon.

  • @MrWednesday24 Tell me when you post it,regardless of this video that song is pretty sick.

  • hoooooooooooooooooooooo goshhh i' m fallin of laughhh

  • How come this guy is deemed to be a great teacher when his examples of singing is not too good?

  • @dedetube A good teacher, and a good singer, are two completely different things. Actually, it's usually those who doesn't have very good singing-voices that become good teachers, since they know the voice inside and out, and know how to correct most issues that singers might experience.

As opposed to a good natural-born singer, who "just sings" without knowing exactly what actually is going on :p

  • @Sarrgas Point taken but damn Brett i wish u can just pull the sound back from the nose a little :p

  • I love his New York accent. "Can we twahk?" Lol

  • What's with all the orgasm comments? :) Leave the man alone. He's a pro. If he wants an orgasm sounds when he sings, who cares.

  • Really helpful, and yes, Bree1059, vocal exercises can be hilarious. But they work.

    Thanks Brett

  • omg...i dont know which is worse, u doing pavarotti or freddie

and about that 4:50...and "look at my face i am SO relaxed..." come on man.

But by the looks of it... u really think u know what are u doing and some tips are actually good....i just hope u will learn your mistakes soon so these poor souls that say "brett your a genius" dont get misled to much

  • @septichka true. Pavarotti does NOT sing like brett (near the top). it's a lot better placed, most of the time i hear it(chest voice being sung by brett and his friends) being placed not in the head but near the back of the mouth, just behind the nasal cavity.

  • @Arfat Pavarotti sang when it was popular to sings dark and heavy. As opposed to now where everything is high placed including modern performances of the opera.

Sidenote...It's cool they're making education to sing available to masses but my I have issues with teaching people how to sing in their nose (i.e. Miley Cyrus) and using techniques that if misused will abuse your voice and cause long term damage.

  • Comment removed

  • @YahHhrly I have to agree with your sidenote. The techniques are immensely powerful if done properly. But for someone who is trying to figure things out by themselves, it can indeed be dangerous to the vocal cords.

I've been practicing with singing success virtually everyday for two months until a few weeks ago when it got to the point where it was hurting too much to speak. Thankfully, I'm almost back to normal now but it was a scary experience.

  • @jys365 Well they suggest rest days...and heres another thing they say...learning is easiest when you dont sing so loud if you have the program you should also watch these vids lots of them because they explain alot......

  • @YahHhrly why did you reply to my comment in saying pavarotti sang when it was popular to sing(s) dark and heavy? What does that have to do with anything? I was talking about how pavarotti when he sings in chest, he places the sound perfectly so there isn't strain. When they sing in chest, they're all straining and reaching with their necks because they're used to doing it incredibally lightly without much effort with headvoice

  • one of the best teachers in world.... look how hayley wiliams sings

  • is it me... or, is this turning you on as well? :/

  • damn this dude nos what hes talkin about...

  • funny considering brett has trained one of the worst artists in music history like taylor swift and miley cyrus

    FUCK YOU

  • @11joshman dude, when a client comes to him with money in hand, he is not going to reject them, whether they are perfect or not...

  • lol he breaks ma hawrt

  • oh man i love the sounds you make ..rofl!! just great dude ...ppl pay and study for years to get what you are teaching here no joke....

hehe u should do some voice overs for pixar Brett

thank you brett especially for adding some classical techniques into the mix.

  • @BrandNewFireworks I have the same problem :// if you figure out how to fix it pleaseee let me know, it would be much appretiated! :)

  • is there any way to sing with layne staleys style? is that possible?

  • can someone tell me why i YAWN so damn much while sigigng?

  • @sdavistew your air flow isn't enough. try taking deeper breaths (more air) before singing a scale

  • never thought singing could've been this easy!

  • This is the best vocal lesson in my life!!!Thanks Brett!!!

  • what about using muscles while singing??

I always strain those under my chin, when it comes to the high notes I can barely sing , it doesn't feel right, but I don't no how to hit these higher notes, n that sucks, cause I wanna sing higher. I wish I could be coached by brett!!!

  • @BrandNewFireworks A tip that from me, that works for me really well and I'm a guy and can hit very high notes... so before I'll give you my tip I'm not a coachj ot liscenced by any means but I' have experienced that this tip works for me

like Brett has stsed once High notes are not earned they are found, singing is a disocovery process, it trakes to develop range and consistency, anyways to rech you need less air not more its paradox, buy Singing Success and sing like never before it works.

  • why is it that after crying..i can sing well..i have experienced this many times..

  • @ixoyerocks same. I think cause your nose is blocked and the throat lasts longer cause it's a little protected by the mucus.

  • Sos un GROXXO

  • yah, i know..

i was able to do it. :)

thnx, it was a big big help

  • Best 5 minute singing lesson i've ever had!

  • very educational! hahaha

  • incredible

  • If you really listen carefully what Brett is explaining here, you get the key to becoming a great singer for free.....as a man, simply ask yourself: when was the last time I cried deeply ?

  • Comment removed

  • Seriously, I don't understand how a person can sing, while imagining their head is a puppet in which you have to pull the strings on to tighten and loosen cords. I am just explaining my frustration.

  • @mark88bon I hate when people mark comments as spam when they aren't.

  • Mouth resonance - aka 'Rocky' resonance.

  • Very instructive. Thanks for the video!

  • i wish i could sing for him so he can help me get my original voice! i'm in an academy chorus, so i don't have MY OWN voice :/ i wish i had the money to get this program!!!!

  • There are lots of good tips on youtube already. Illegally download the course and buy it if it helped you. I used it and thinks that its okay.

  • brett your a genius

  • Rmfaol wow. If you get bored and play with it around 2:04-2:10 it sounds like he's having an orgasm lol..SORRY ! Just sayin !

  • wow...lol

  • @Bree1059 LMAO

  • @Bree1059 2:37 - 2:42 is another orgasm.

  • @Bree1059 BAHAHAHA. OMG..... I love it.

  • @Bree1059 I totally agree. I felt bad thinking so, but when that moment of the video happened I cranked down the volume on my speakers for fear of what the other people in my house might think.

  • @Bree1059 after the vid has loaded completely, press pause, then play, then press the number 5 over and over, HAHA

  • @DurantHaruna better yet, after video has loaded, press 3, then 4, then 5, then repeat! HeeHee

  • my favorite video of singing success

    really love it........

  • Brett rlz!

  • OMG his voice at 1:25 is very similar to Lady GaGa. weird

  • In spanish please!!!!!!

  • In his 40's.

  • how old is he now

  • hehe, ya this is the best vid to be the first one for me to watch him. I couldn't help but laugh, Im sorry. But whats even funnier is I went into my room and cried, and took his advice. Hey and it works great. Mike says hi Brett.

  • man he's getting old

  • I hate to break it to you,But its impossible to get any younger,Hah.

  • hey brett i love your vids!! they are really uber helpful thx so much!

i would be happy if some of you guys could watch some of my vids°

    thx in advance =)

  • great tips brett!

  • Thank you so much...I learn a lot...Really...!!!

  • So how do you practice it? I just don't feel like I've got enough power over my cords to sense whether I'm "compressing" or not. Are there exercises or vocal sounds that help train it?

  • same here

  • I like what you said Brett, but I wouldn't have necessarily have given Freddie Mercury as an example of good compression. What you did is NOT what Freddie does on the record.

  • sweetness. thanks!

  • good lesson

  • this is one of the best videos i ever seen!

  • FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!! nothing less from Brett :D God bless :D

  • awesome
