austraillia's orginal people right. i knew it by the look in his face. i know how my people look down there and we are struggling the SAME battle here in this hell called america. hold on we justice is right around the corner.
I was taken away, put into a lovely white family, I am lucky in some ways as many where abused in institutions. I miss my history, my family, they stole my language, my stories, by inheritence. This makes me sad, Australia doesnt like me, my own people dont like me, where do I go, The government you really F%^k up
@patacattoday You are fortunate that you were but into a nice family - i think what the government did was the worst thing that australia has ever done! I like you :)
@Prrooshka - brother you just dont get it, you never will. But thats ok, we dont blame you for your ignorance. I hope you dont celebrate all that ANZAC bullshit either, coz you werent there and I doubt your ancestors were, build a bridge. I also doubt you can go back more than a couple of generations...
Grieving and whingeing are two different things. The only person whingeing here is you. But judging by the bitterness in your words, you obviously need to grieve more for your tragic life. May some love and peace find it's way to you. Indeed, you could learn a lot from Bob.
@MIssCabolt spose you wouldnt understand becuase your entire race hasnt been mass killed and had all there kids taken away from there mothers and stuck into camps to enslave them and turn them "white" then the women raped then the babies that come out were killed, men had hands cut off so they wouldnt touch white ppl and your whole culture destroyed but yea feel free to comment like a fuck head your cool brah
@MIssCabolt you're not worth the hate I could respond with. I hope you take the same amount of time to learn our real history as you do to spew out ignorant and arrogant opinions and then hopefully one day, if you have a heart a mind and a willingness to find truth you will then eat your words. Your comments represent a major roadblock to equality in our country.
I know about the history and frankly I don't give a shit. I didn't do it, my ancestors didn't do it. There are so many nationalities that have been treated badly in the past, but guess what? They all moved on and don't constanly winge about the past. The Greeks, Italians and even Asians were treated unfairly in Oz, I never hear them winging. I know the truth, our government said sorry, you have been handed so much money and privileges, What more can we do?? LIving in the past is crap
You don't get it, you never will. Don't live in the past, well stop fucking celebrating ANZAC day, you weren't there, you didnt contribute. You don't hear about Asians complaining about being in concentration camps because you probaly dont know any. People like you can't do anything to make it right, you don't have it in your hearts... You are the type of person that starts conversations with, 'I'm not racist, but...', and we ALL know who you are! It's ok, we excuse you.
@MIssCabolt If you stop/listen in the intro Bob is saying that this song was written/set for that time when the stolen generations first occured. He's not whinging today. Today he is trying to create a sense of understanding, to really feel if the Government can empathize with how it really feels to be taken from the care of their Mothers. You missing the point, Italians/Asians werent the first inhabit this land. Bob is about creating a better future for all who are here now. Do your research.
It is racist to believe somebody is great and beautiful because of their race.
It is racist of Bob to deny his white side and only identify with the black. It may be benificial to do that as his musical prowess would not be tolerated from a right wing white man ! however let's not be racist towards him and treat him as though he is as intellegent as us whites.
WHICH HE IS you left wing racists. Therefore is it possible he is a con artist pushing a political agenda?
Our class was so lucky to get a visit from Bob today. Being 13 and 14 years old, you would think that people had matured enough to understand the serious case of this, and the horrible things that happened. But for people to sit there laughing at the movie that was shown, and sitting laughing through his visit...? Disrespectful and unmature.
I sat with tears in my eyes from the stories that were told, and the horrible pictures of the documentary Kanyini.
The Australian government apologised for past policies that robbed many Indigenous people of their family and culture. Non-indigenous citizens like me supported this as an acknowledgment of the hardship they have endured since European settlement. That is not too much to ask, is it?
Beautiful but tragic, there is great shame in the past Australian Governments for atrocities comitted against Aboriginal People.. but MYVAMPY333 - It is not the responsibility of todays non-indigenous to pray or apologise for things they did not do and find disgusting themselves, together we move forward, divided we stay stagnant in hate
@OzWallis mate you mite not have done it but if ur at least a 5 or 6 generation to Australia you ancestors are. jus like I wasnt apart of the stolen generation im 25 but My mum and her mum and their mum was apart, it mite not have happened to me but i still fell it mate and its still fresh and Australia is supposed to be a First world Country.
@MYVAMPY333 What happened was without question an awful atrocity committed to all those involved. However i will never apologize for something i did not do.
@jamunjiman you're not apologising for doing it yourself, you're apologising and acknowledging that it DID HAPPEN....
in the same way you would say sorry to a friend whose mother has died... you're not apologising for her dying because you were the cause of it, but simply acknowledging the sorrow as a result of such a tradgedy...
i was honoured enough to have spent time with bob in his home with 2 other friends and he sung this song for us while sitting on his porch when he gets to the chorus you hear the pain and tears of the many mothers and children that have suffered it went right through you..i thank you once again for your beauty and your aroha bob arohanui kia koe

very sad song, i imagine if i was taken away from my parents at a young age, or if my kid was taken away from me, it is EXACTLY the same, so sad, and i guess you would just wonder for what reason it was done?

yaa, im with skippy. i know aboriginals are disadvantaged in society, and find trouble finding jobs, housing, etc. but alot of them just dont try to get up onto their feet. Some have taken care of themselves, and are leading safe and heathy lives, but many others just drop out of school, and get bad jobs, start taking drugs, then blame the white-man. Their the ones who dont even try to make it, they bring their often undesirbaly lifestyle upoon themselves with alcohol and drug abuse.
I know hey, us black fellas are the same as those in-bred non-Indigenous rednecks out there who are now the MAJORITY of the problem in Australia who are eating up the Australian Governments resources etc. Yeah there's the good white ones who work and go to school and stuff but then there's the ice, pot and heroin addicts who spend there life on welfare, you'd have to HATE THAT HEY!
I agree with you, I liove this song, but this is as original as you can get when it comes to this song... Uncle Bob Randall wrote this songin the 70's, Fringe Dwellers didn't come out til '86.

I've noticed much of the venom directed at them and the social conditioning is similar to that which blacks encounter all over the globe.
I've heard and viewed video by some of their community activists and it feels good to know they are determined to grow stronger in spite of the obstacles and aggression.

I read the book mutant message down under with marlo morgan and she inspired me so much and wrote about her experience with one of the tribes in australia it was a god given gift to share part of her liffe with you all!!! may my desire come true !!!!! uncle Bob can you give me ideas ?
Hun, Muntant Message has been proven false. Especially since a lot of evidence is very contridicting. For example she wrote she joined the male aborigines in the tribe for a spiritual chant. It is wrong. Because it's only men's business not women's business.
Yes, Our people went out in search of this tribe she said she had gone with, finally it was said to be a work of fiction. Before that she went on Oprah with a different "truth". Once more exploitation of our people.
i would give everything i have to have a sacred wald with the aboriginies in Australia, you all are so evolved spiritualy and so connected with nature , my desire is to walk and learn about your wisdom and knowledge, please tell me how uncle Bob!

Why has not one case been proven?
Children were never taken away just because they were half caste like Bob.
They were taken away because they were disgarded by there own community for being a product of an illegal union according to racist tribal law.
But then again to believe that, you would have to believe that aboriginal culture was less than perfect. HMMM
