@hero1345679 The original theme is a common European childs tune and when musicians play it, they usually pretend to be really serious about playing this simple tune. The song is the Three Cornered Hat.
Do you know more text, I think there is more but can't remember... my little grand daughter loves this version with David very much, it's her favorite song...ich singe es auf deutsch da es sich besser reimt, kann mich aber beim besten Willen nicht erinnern ob da mehr Text war. Danke. Thanks.
@23144010721842 - seemed to be the only text or I just can't find more... it sounded as there is more when he played it, no matter my granddaughter loves it still.
I think Mr Repin did the "Donkey" more convincingly then Mr Garrett's performance. Not to say who's better, but I just thought Mr Paganini would have been proud of the "Donkey". If I could, I would love to do the donkey too. Too bad I can't. I can probably slaughter the Donkey though.
OMG I thought he owned a strad by the sound quality, but didn't know for sure because I thought it was just the video camera.... That is really cool, I didn't know that.
Look, honestly is nice to be concerned about "losing value" but the only reason a Strad is worth any money at all is the beauty and purity of its sound. Yes it may get degraded over the years, dinged, whatever so do all things eventually. The only true calling for these very special instruments is to be regularly in the hands of master musicians doing what they were made to do.
@aubreymhill but not regularly in the hands of masters, stradivarius violins have the same reason to exist as all other instruments, to be owned by a musician with respect for the violin and alot of enthusiasm to music it doesn't have to be a master, but its only because masters can afford and are respected among other musicians is why only masters use them now.
David Garrett does, indeed, perform on a Strad. His own violin is a million $ Guadagnini from the late 18th century. However, he fell on it a while ago and it was being repaired for about $75,000. Apparently, he's got it back and using it again. However, while it was being repaired Mont Blanc foot the bill to loan him an early 18th century Stad, about a 5 million $ instrument, which he used and traveled with until his own was repaired.
I mean, he's a great performer but you have to be dumb to go on the road with a Strad, and even FALLING on it. Also, even if someone can do the repair and even if the owner can pay for it, a repaired Strad will lose a lot of value and will not be worth as much as an original Strad. When you repair one of these very rare instruments, you are chopping value off it. Not a very intelligent move
He didn't fall on a Strad. It was a Guadagnini which was his own very old violin but his OWN. The Strad was on loan. Although, I see what you mean... ..wouldn't it be a pity if these old beautiful instruments only stayed in a glass case and weren't heard, especially, by such a gifted artist as David Garrett? After all, the violin he picks to play is what helps give David his own unique sound.
I'm impressed. Garrett can make a violin speak beautiful tones, despite a distracted audience.....

@joniguitar9
short for Stradivarius violin, a very rare instrument made by the famous Italian luthier
I doubt that the performer is performing with a Stradivarius, as these are museum treasures. Some people write nonsense... :)
