  • that one dislike was from the one kid that didn't come down from "playing catch"

  • 1:00

  • thanks 4 posting!!

  • the good tv show casue most everybody dresses like me

  • kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • Fantastic advertising! There's no doubt, Cheerio's would be number one.

  • Bellissimo!!!!!!!!!! Grazie!!!

  • Those Munsters were a lively bunch then and now~ I watched regularly when i was young up till an adult ;) The Adams Family is a good one too!

  • @beastybanana Adams Family & the Monsters are cousins?

  • I can not express how thankfull I am to you for posting this clip. In my very very very short interview with Butch Patrick (SEE: butch patrick at the capri), I asked him about this sponsor spot and he talks about it. Cast commercials blended the sponsors products into the programs with entertaining spots like this. Wish they still did that, seeing this clip is so cool, I wonder how many cast commercials they participated in.

  • fred didnt exactly 'hate' playing the role of herman . he actually said in an interview that he has absolutely no problem at all with being recognized as herman. but in the times where he DID try to get away from that specific role were only because people wernt associating him with other fantastically played roles. it MUST be demeaning for an actor to only be widely known for one character or part. fred was enormously talented, and SHOULD be renowned for every character he has portrayed.

  • Herman was the best!

  • @francie18

    What is a YUTE?

  • "It´s monster!"

  • Cheerios are a good source of iron and wall plaster.

  • If I ever saw this on TV, I would shit myself!!

  • Helps Grandpa experiment.... sexually.

  • Poor Fred Gwynn. He hated doing the Munsters...probably worse than doing the Munsters is pitching products.

I mean...he was a Shakespearean actor. And this is what he ended up having to do. But then again..didn't learn his lesson after the Musters...ended up on My Cousin Vinny.

  • funny !!! Love it !!

  • Reminds me of Kevin McHale from the Celtics. He looked like Herman Munster. The Celtics really had a team of 'frankensteins' when Bird played. And McHale was the head Frankenstein of the team.

  • He was competing with what's his name - Captain Crunch of General Mills at the time. That's how I got into politics with mom in the grocery store isle. We managed to negotiate watching the Munsters from 8pm to 9pm as long as I didn't drag my cranky ass out of bed the next morning and appreciate her French toast.

  • herman munster is the most perfect dad EVER

  • haha , i love this!

  • my granfather before he died(dang cancer:'( ) He looked exacly like granpa from the munsters it was soooooooo cool haha but what was also awesome is that my ucle, aunt, and coisins acted like the addams family all the time god i got awesomeness everywhere in my family!!!!!!!!!!

  • the musters are my favorite show,herman/the guy who looks like frankenstein is the most funny because he is radiculously huge and strong

  • 0:22 HA!!!! FUNNY!!!!!!

  • I saw "The Munsters" back in '64 and '65 and I remember these commercials. When they went into syndication a few years later, I was very disappointed that they didn't keep the Cheerios ads as part of the show. For some reason, it was mostly sitcoms (Munsters, Gomer Pyle, Andy Griffith, The Beverly Hillbillies, The Monkees, etc) and kids shows that did this type of ad. I would have liked to see Perry Mason plugging breakfast cereal or sneakers during his show.

  • Protein? In Cheerios? Only in the milk. Ya gotta love a laugh track in a commercial though.

  • around 0:18 eddie mentioned eating batwings. i wonder what igor would think of that.

  • @coventrygardens actually batwings are not that great but bats are. when i lived in guam they ate fruit bats and they are really great tasting.

  • @RichardOhKaNoi i imagine they taste a lot like chicken.

  • @coventrygardens no they dont they actually have a sweet meat to them and they are quite the delicacy look up fruit bats of guam and see how the people there enjoy them

  • @RichardOhKaNoi here's what wikipedia said: The Mariana Fruit Bat , also known as the Mariana flying fox, and the fanihi in Chamorro is a fruit bat that is found only on Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and Ulithi The bat is a culinary delicacy by the Chamorros and is linked to neurological disease called Lytico-Bodig disease. Paul Alan Cox and Oliver Sacks found out that the bats consumed large quantities of cycad seeds, and - probably accumulate the toxins to dangerous levels.

  • @coventrygardens yes knew about that for years now, but it does not stop the chamorros from eating them. the only thing that is slowing them down is that the bats are dissapearing at an alarming rate(most end up on BBQ's) sorry to see them go this way. but they are a beautiful animal. some become real friendly. some are raised as pets.

  • Goes good with bat's milk yogurt.

  • Hey Cheerios--get rid of the heart-shaped bowl and get back to some REAL ads

  • watching the commercial on youtube makes me feel like getting some cheerios the next time i'm at a food shop. i wonder why the company doesn't run this ad any more. i'm glad marylin wasn't in the ad. she served only 1 purpose on the show, by creating situations that would cause her human acquaintances to meet the munsters.

  • The simplicity of it... I wish they still made commercials thisn way. Couldn't you just see Hugh Laurey step aside and say, "By the way, when my patients have incontinents problems, I always prescribe 'depends undergarments." Or better yet, he could just turn to the camera and whisper 'zoom zoom:"

Maybe its because they are breaking the 4th way addressing the audinece directly that makes this seem so different.

  • @Nash1a

Well yeah, it is breaking the fourth wall, and all, but these comercials were GOLD.

Like you were saying, Hugh Laury could sell you anything on earth.

And I figure, as long as he stays in his cynical, arrogant character, no harm done.

  • I love this commercial Hermen Munster is a legend!!!!!!!!

  • General Mills was a regular sponsor of "THE MUNSTERS" during its first season (1964-'65)- and, as such, an "integrated commercial" featuring them, pitching the sponsor's product, was seen during the episodes GM sponsored. This 1965 spot, however, consists of scenes from previous episodes...

  • too funny, superglad its not lost.

  • Good commercial!!!! I'm just the opposite of MorticiaAddams 13. LOL- Loved the Addams family alot, but enjoyed the munsters more. Their Munster coach was Wicked i loved it.

  • Loved it!!!!!! But I personally like the Addams family better but I also love the munsters!!!!

  • i love this vid (:

  • What's for breakfast honey? Cornflakes.

    Darn Darn Darn Darn!

  • @fjccommish Boo Berry, Draco Flakes, or Frankenberry?

  • Fun commercial

  • Really? Wow, and I thought it was due to the profane trash that's on tv today, not the innocent fun stuff of yesteryear.

  • protein and stuff =P

  • i went to amazon, and found the munsters action figures. i ordered a herman action figure. it arrived today. it's good. i think i'll order the rest of the figures.

  • one of my favorite scenes from the munsters was the one with herman singing "dry bones". it's the best rendition i've seen. the song is based on something in the book of ezekiel in the christian old testament. i bet the author of those bible verses never dreamed that the verses would wind up in herman's repertoire.

  • It really is a good rendition.

  • to Goatmon------------- yep it is. also, i liked the "addams family" movies, yet i think that the tv series was nowhere near as good as the munsters tv series.

    -------------

i noticed that you replied to my comments on 2 different videos that i had saved as favorites. are you looking around through my list of favorites ?? it's ok with me, yet i was just wondering.

  • is this from Herman&Co?

  • Never saw this before.Cool.

  • me either!

  • LOl I love Herman&&Co lol

  • Always been a fan of the Munsters great video thanks!
