Yes, that is strange, I wonder why that is. I listen to both Vangelis and JMJ, but this song really stands out and brings a lot of nostalgi. A great classic, a pity the youth of today listen to rap crap and miss out on such haunting-memoir pieces.....
This has nothing with vangelis or jarre. Imagine, those two together to play some one else's theme? And then the theme is so lack of everything, yes, is a midi file with some cheap twiquings.
Jan Hammer wrote Crockett's Theme. This version is a little mellow and, I guess held back? Needs some stronger samples with more attack. Beautiful song though, always worth taking an interest in. I am pretty darn sure Jean-Michel Jarre nor Vangelis had a hand in this piece.
C'mon, this is a simple Midi-File through a Wavetable or GM-Module. Nothing against Jarre or Vangelis, but -this- could be far too simple and low-quality for them.
guys guys guys...for good music's sake... this is pure Jan Hammer... maimi vice.... ..he is a Czech immigrant to USA...this is nit JM jarre or Vangelis.... wake up guys...
you could have atleast turned off the dvix logo when making your video it is in the codec options use Xvid in future it isn't backwards like dvix is. Fuck I hate the new player for youtube the old one you could pause when buffering and it had a to the begining button and the volume was easier to adjust.
Anyways to the real reason for commenting I love this song the bass line is so moving and the tune is soothing. excellent work from the founder of all music I have loved.
before someone says it, to get faster internet i'd need to lay down over 4000KM (2516miles for those caught in the mdeieval times)of cable so don't tell me to get faster internet so i won't see youtube buffer
The original theme by Jan Hammer is the best, every time I hear a remix or revision they always miss the point of the instrumental. This just sounds like its missing something.

Could be? When one argues, one must be definite. The fact that the piece is not as complex as some of Jarre's earlier albums doesn't chance my opinion, nor the fact that, for some reason beyond me, about all the sites I visited to research this say exactly the same, and yet this whole argument was born. Oh, and before you reply back, click on the related video, 'JAN HAMMER - CROCKETT's THEME EXTENDED VERSION' and tell me they sound the same.
Yes, and all said that they found it on Limewire or somewhere else. This is simply one of the fake-Songs from the MI which were uploaded in order to make confusion, in order to loose the desire to download songs.
And again, this quality isn't common of one of them both.
And, in addition, there was never a collaboration between Jarre and Vangelis. Once and for all-it is whether Jarre nor Vangelis, I make since 15 Years music and started with Jarre, had contacts in that direction, but never, ever heard of something like that. -Every- electronic fake Song starts with the name "Jarre&Vangelis".
What surprises me is not at all your reply, I'll admit having a better look, the sources were a bit shakey, but rather your last claim, every fake has a 'Jarre & Vangelis' insignia. Are you saying that's the Adam Smithee of electronic song, the fake one's anyway? That's a bit hard to believe, but yes, what you say before is true, I'll grant you that.
this track has nothing what-so-ever to do with Vangelis..he didn't compose it , record it..and certainly never teamed up with JMJ to record this or any music.
There were no lyrics to the original Jan Hammer "Crockett's Theme" song. Maybe someone did another remix/variation with one, but the original is lyric free.

I heard this song about a million times. And about 98% of places on the web Ive seen this song when I was trying to find the name of it, it was Jarre & Vangelis - Crockett's (Miami Vice Theme) Remix. The Buster person below me knows what hes talking about. The paul04071973 user obviously doesn't have a clue.
Sorry to say but this track was by Jan Hammer, not Jarre or Vangelis. The Track was called Crockets theme. Vangelis and jarre have never done a colaboration together.

this indeed is a quite simple track, however an absolute classic.
Play this song to people between 25-50yrs old, and they get nostalgic. No Jarre nor a Vangelis song will do that....
