  • Jo Mapes later sang the "Sunshine Raisin" song for Kellogg's Raisin Bran in the late '60s.

  • Today, I work for a small agency dedicated to helping people find employment...

  • I appreciate your nice comment, 'zillary' (and I don't know what happened to your mother, as she virtually disappeared from national TV appearances around the time the folk music era was eclisped by "The British Invasion" of rock and roll). As for me, I used to be a disc jockey at my college radio station in the '70s, and later at a small FM radio station in Portage, Pa. about 20 years ago (also custodian of the station's record library and commercial/continuity writer, that's how small it was).

  • Great to see and hear Jo Mapes!

  • @TimLahey She's great!

  • I Just remembered Cambell was on Hullabaloo, getting old ,sorry.

  • Didnt Glen Cambell host this show ?

  • @1952kid No, Jack Linkletter hosted Hootenanny.

  • Love seeing these! My mother, Jo Mapes was in her prime

  • @zillary Wow, thanks for commenting! She sounds great on here!!!

  • Incidentally, this promo features excerpts from the last show of the first season [6/29/63], taped at Syracuse University; The Limelighters sing "The Hammer Song", Jo Mapes does "Kisses Sweeter Than Wine", and The Clara Ward Singers perform "Come In the Room"....

  • Jack Linkletter identifed the network as ABC at :54, 'PDS'.

  • I wonder if this was on ABC then. This was a good show in '63 and '64.

Didn't Duffy write a song that must've been like this show?

  • This was the Saturday night alternative to "JACKIE GLEASON'S AMERICAN SCENE MAGAZINE" in the fall of '63, when this folk music hour (taped on location at various college campuses across the country) appeared opposite "The Great One" [a live staff announcer usually added at :55, "Saturday at 7:30, 6:30 Central Time, over most of these stations"]. However, Gleason had more viewers, and "HOOTENANNY" ended in the summer of 1964. Host Jack Linkletter, incidentally, was Art's son.

  • @fromthesidelines Loved reading all your comments...... whats your background?
