  • great Video !!!!!

  • I gotta say I like all of Zephyr's videos and tips. He's great.

  • @melahi7 Are they on You Tube too? can u send me the link please... i am a bit slow on this ....

  • I have my very first dog, and he's about 7 years old now. He's been on kibble his entire life because frankly, I never considered feeding raw due to my inexperience. He developed epilepsy at 5 years old, and I'm wondering if switching him over to a raw diet now might help reduce the number of seizures he has? He also has some seasonal allergies that a friend told me might be curable with raw food, but I'm having trouble convincing my husband to let us try it. Someone else's advice might help.

  • Hi, I have an 9 month wolfdog do I use his ideal adult body weight to calculate how much meat to give him or his weight now.

  • @zzzzzzz0000 His weight now.

  • @zzzzzzz0000 your soo lucky you have a wolf dog the closest breed that will look like a wolf and the breed that i adore is a gsd

  • Great video!!! I posted one like it and can't believe some of the rude comments I got telling me I was an idiot and a liar. I suppose all those folks that still feed their animals "processed food" still just don't get it. It still boils down to..."What would a dog eat in the wild"? The answer to that of course is.....anything he can find!!!

  • @rustywhite1 Always ignore ignorant rude comments. Don't let them get to you. Have a happy raw feeding day :D

  • where the hell can i buy those boxes? i live in socal and it seems impossible for me to find anyone that will sell me that stuff.

  • @SuperGrooter

Find a local "farmers market" and go to the poultry section and tell them you want a 40 lb. box of chicken drum sticks. Bell & Evans carries some of the best organic out there. Seeing as how it is good enough for humans, it is even better for your animal than ANY stuff you could buy off the shelf. A box costs about 60$ . Throw in some turkey legs, wings and some pork spare ribs and your dog will LOVE you for it...Hope this helps...seeya

  • B.A.R.F. Stands for Biologically Appropriate Raw Foods

  • @EGMAG : I buy whole chicken and fish from the grocery stores. If the meat is safe for humans to consume, then it's safe for your dogs and cats to eat. You don't have to worry about parasitic worms. They've been inspected before they're sold to the public. Heck, I eat raw oysters at a sushi restaurant. They're delicious with a splash of lemon juice and hot sauce. Do I have worms? Nope. Do your research on the meat seller before buying anything from them. That's my advice.

  • @EGMAG Dogs and cats are both evolved to kill parasites once consumed, unless their immune system is jacked up. :/ Which isn't to say you should buy meat that hasn't been checked for them.

  • how much are those boxs?

  • My dog digs up my carrots in the garden and eats them, so I would think that there may be things like that that wolves eat too.

Also, are dogs not affected by things like mad cow, botulism, and other types of diseases associated with raw meat in humans?

  • @missanna208802 no. But don't buy cheap nasty cuts of meat. Mine eat london broil.

  • Where do you get chicken backs and necks!!? I checked everywhere in toronto but cant find them - only leg quarters. I checked grocery stores, chinese stores, poultry wholesale and still no luck. Help me?

  • I stay in south Florida, were do you get your raw meats from? I have a red nose American bulldog and he loves raw meat I'm thinking about switching him over but I'm afraid it's going to make me broke

  • I know someone else already asked this but I read through the comments and can't find the answer. Where do you buy the bulk meat at that is shown in your video?

  • Do the meats need to be frozen before fed?

  • he looks like shane carwin haha

  • Raw vegetables?What kind of?

  • @MrBrokensoul26 Not needed. Just feed balanced meat bone and organ

  • Im about to rescue a english mastiff he weighs around 200lb and is 2 years old, i want to get him on this type of diet, raw, i was just wondering whats the best way to go about it, he has to have 3 meals a day instead of 1 big one, due to bloat being common in the giant breeds, anyone that can give me some advice would be great! Great video also x

  • my cat eats about 1/4 a scoop of kibble a day (it lasts her from 6 am til about 8pm) and she gets half a can in the morning and night of wet food and once a day as a treat behind my moms back i give her some raw meats

  • this dude could use a healthy raw diet also

  • Finally Someone who knows how to feed Dog.When I lived in the City.My idiot neighbor called Animal Control on me because I was feeding my Dogs with raw chicken feet necks and Turkey meat.He told the animal cont.guys that I was killing my Dogs and the're chocking on the bones. What an Idiot! Of course the officers were just laughing at him and gave shit to him for calling'em for this shit. And he and his wife were actually baking dog cookies for their dogs LMFAO IDIOTS.Thank God I moved to the bush

  • I'm also wondering where you buy a cases of raw meat. I just started a raw diet for my dog and I'm paying $10 for a 2lb chub. If I can buy things like that in bulk, I think it would really help out. $5 a day is waaay too much.

  • On the subject of veg - when a dog eats a rabbit it eats the whole rabbit guts and all, thus eating veg at various stages of digestion so it's irrelevant that dogs can't digest veg as bunny does it for them. Even if a processed food contained rabbit it would be gutted and the goodness wasted apart from the nutrients that have been absorbed in to the body over time but it's not the same so we have to replace it. Seaweed is a good for dogs.

  • Im also in Miami and feed my English Bully RAW. I'd like to pick up a box like that .

Where did you buy it in bulk like that??

  • @jortiz9758 Join a local Co-Op it's cheaper and you can buy in bulk. google local Raw feeding Co-Op in your city, I live in Los Angeles so i use socalbarf. their website .socalbarf . com

  • dogs do eat veggies and grass. be sure to give at least 10-20% veggies, gorwon above ground and not garlic or onions. No grapes, raisins.

  • B.A.R.F = bones and raw food, not bones and raw "meat". I agree, it is a dog's natural state to want to spend an evening chewing something else's back leg but my vet said "it's also their natural state to die at a few years old with an internal blockage". I reckon if we use common sense and keep an eye on them while they eat then all should be good. Cooked bones splinter like needles but small, raw ones bend.

  • @RossEdinburgh That is utterly senseless, what your vet said. if that were so, dog's would be extinct .

  • @nags2bitches extinct if they hadn't given birth to the next generation before dying - he wasn't talking about it happening to ALL wild dogs. If it only happened once in all history but it was your dog, would you not rather you'd taken more care? I think with a bit care what we put down to them and keep them in sight while eating then the benefits outweigh the risk. Only the Alpha male and female breed in a pack anyway, if another bitch had a litter the Alpha Female would probably kill the pups.

  • @RossEdinburgh Your vet said "it's also their natural state to die at a few years old with an internal blockage" but it isn't . Dying of blockage after eating food that they are designed to eat is NOT their natural state. I have lost a dog to blockage, a 4 week old pup that should've been eating partly predigested food from it's mother was given chicken scraps by a 'kind' neighbour so yes it helps not to be stupid but dying of blockage is about as 'natural' as humans choking on apples.

  • @nags2bitches thousands of people die each year throughout the world choking on food so I don't see your point. I'm sorry to hear about your pup, aren't we supposed to keep pups in doors until they're fully inoculated at two months, how did your neighbour get access to it - did they feed it without your knowledge? that's what I mean about taking care - controlling what they're given to eat.

  • @RossEdinburgh What I'm getting at is your vet seemed to be against feeding raw on the grounds that it was dangerous & that dying young from blockage was somehow normal for wild dogs, which it isn't . Dogs are DESIGNED to eat raw and any blockage or choking is purely accident, the same as choking on an apple. The pup was in my own garden & the neighbours fed it over the fence. They got an earful but sadly too late.

  • @RossEdinburgh Please watch this video it will help you understand the Prey diet. my American Bulldog has always been on the Prey diet. youtube.com/watch?v=G3wLTlqnMMg&feature=feedwll

  • you didn't say what was in the other box...?

  • why u soud feed the dog with raw food ?

  • great video! I feed my breeder English mastiffs & pups raw beef, hearts, chicken necks & backs, organs including tripe. All meat include bones for calcium and chewing for their teeth, I also mix up raw eggs w/shells from free ranged hens, cooked rice, omega, fish & olive oils, garlic, apples, carrots, multi vitamins, yogurt. My Qs is where can I buy meat in bulk since my dogs are huge and eat a LOT!

  • Where do you get this from?

  • where do you buy those boxes of raw meat? company links??

  • @bon2bwildest join a local raw feeding Co-Op it will be a lot cheaper than buying bags of kibble. a 30 lb box of chicken gizzards for me runs about $24

  • i have a question..i'm up north in hunting territory :) can i feed them wild game?

  • @undergirl0714 if you can't find turkey necks at your local store you can order it on hare-today..com and they have alot of varieties. shipping cost depends on how much you order.

  • is it okay to get at supermarket? and good vid.

  • @1947Israel yes, it is okay, just don't buy the enhance ones.

  • we weren't intended to eat processed food ether...

  • @Doom687 But it is in human nature to try to invent stuff... And one of the most important human inventions of all time is processed food...

  • @FattyDudley Just because processed food gives the ability to feed people for less money doesn't mean that it's better for a person. the best food a person can eat is unprocessed organic food. that includes grass fed meats and dairy.

  • @AiruhnG I dont think today's humans can eat raw meat. Salmonella. That is why we discover fire.

  • @FattyDudley I never said anything about humans eating raw meat. Plus meat gets contaminated by Salmonella only because of mass-production and factory farming. If you were to raise a chicken then consume it raw you would not get salmonella poisoning if prepared right. In Japan there is a restaurant that serves raw chicken on rice like sushi. The chicken is clean and grown then in the back of the restaurant. And when you order a steak rare only the top is grilled the middle is raw.

  • @FattyDudley so yes we can consume raw meat, poultry, fish, and even pork if the animal is clean, grass fed and organic. Salmonella, e-coli, hook worms, tape worms, and other parasites are found in the stool and stomachs of animals not in the meat. If such waste gets in contact with the meat like it happen often in factory processed meat then, yes you can get sick if not cooked right, but that's why people should buy organic, grass fed meat.

  • @FattyDudley Get on my level... Do your research, get educated, get informed before you leave such a foolish ill-informed comment.

  • @AiruhnG "organic" is mostly a marketing buzz word to sell fools more expensive food that is essentially the same. There is no such thing as an Organic vegetable. All the seeds we eat have been bred that way.

Carrots are not naturally orange and big. It's all a shame for the gulliable.

  • @ojideagu the produce I eat is bought from my local farms market where pesticides are not used. The meat I buy for myself and dogs are bought from a rancher where the beef is free ranged and grass fed, so are the chickens and dairy cows. I'v been at the ranch and I've seen how the rancher prepares the product. If you take the time to actually find out where your food comes from you'll find out that the people buying this better food are not so gullible like you think.

  • @AiruhnG I can point you to many reputable articles debunking the myths of "Organic" food

as mostly a marketing tool to make more money to people uneducated about farming.

It's a total myth "Organic" farmers do not use pesticides. Some of theirs

are actually WORSE. Pesticide levels in non organic food are not dangerous.

It's also a total myth that organic food is healthier or more nutritious.

I have sources from "The independent" Newspaper which has a detailed article on it.

  • @ojideagu Dude are you reading what I'm writing? You proved my point about the French people. You basically agreed with me. The French people do not eat factory farmed meat like we do. They eat more saturated fat yet they don't have our health problems.

  • @AiruhnG So you're saying organic saturated fat is better? That's utter rubbish.

Saturated fat is saturated fat. Organic fat is no different. Anyway France does not have any significant better health than the UK in modern studies, yet the UK eats mostly non organic food.

Plenty of non organic food is available not heavily processed.

There is no significant scientific proof of any benefits of Organic food.

  • @ojideagu haha really? are you really comparing the eating habits of first world countries and the third world countries? Yes people in third World countries eat "far more organic food, yet they have far lower life expectancy" but I hope you know that the reasons reach far from the food they eat and the amount of food they eat. i hope you know that economical, political, and in environmental issues play huge part into peoples health. This argument and statement alone questions you creditably

  • @AiruhnG What you are calling "organic meat" is just standard law here.

I don't have to buy "organic" meat to avoid hormones.

Your definition there is not the same as mine.

  • @AiruhnG There is no magic food or diet that stops cancer etc

As long as you eat enough vitamins and minerals (organic or not),

eat ALL food in moderation, and excercise, you need nothing else. The rest is genetic.

Martina Navratilova had an organic healthy lifestyle all her life and she now has cancer

and she is distraught and can't understand why. It's a delusion of the health fanatics.

  • @ojideagu haha if your sources are Wikipedia i would think twice were you're getting you info. You are still avoiding my question on meat production. I never brought organic vegetables you did. the video is on feeding your pet a spices appropriate diet. My comments on organic food was on meat and poultry. You're arguments hold no weight with me. You are avoiding my comments and questions just so you can approve a point about the organic food industry.

  • @AiruhnG You mentioned pesticides, which has never been shown to damage humans

in any scientific tests. Non organic is way below any danger level. Myth debunked.

  • @ojideagu I'd be careful and you should your research on who paid for this research. You would be surprised how influential the food industry can be.

  • @AiruhnG The Life expectancy is France is 80, the Life expectancy in the UK is 79.

Barely a difference. Also French people retire earlier which helps.

The diet of people in the UK is similar to the USA. The difference is we eat LESS.

  • @ojideagu there are also interdependent studies that have shown that we have yet to see the long term health effects from these chemicals. The "myth" is not debunked. the research is just not complete. If you want to continue eating the food eat it. I can really careless.

  • @AiruhnG ALL meat in Europe is banned from having hormones injected. Organic or not.

Organic might mean not having hormones injected in America, but it does not in Europe.

I don't have to buy organic meat to not have hormones. That's just standard.

So your definition of "organic" is not the same as mine.

  • @ojideagu again you went completely of topic to support your ideology which i think is lame and pathetic. Again my comments towards the consumption of organic meat. which you have totally disregarded

  • @AiruhnG People in third world countries eat far more organic food, yet they have

far lower life expectancy. And countless health problems.

Healthcare and excercise are far more important than a specific diet.

As long as you have enough vitamins and minerals, not much else is needed

    beyond standard nutrition.

  • @AiruhnG it's funny to me that you went totally off the topic to prove a point and to promote your ideology. My comments were never on farming and agriculture, but on grass fed beef and poultry. I'd like you to defend the meat packing industry on how it treats the cattle and food during it's production. e-coli outbreaks are caused because the meat gets in contact with the waste from these animals. The hamburger meat you buy has a mixture of meat from thousands of cattle. The meat I buy is from1

  • @ojideagu I went to college, got education, and a great job that pays well. i know some people can't afford to do this but I can, and I buy the best food I can. If I can avoid a supermarket I do, but mostly I buy from local vendors to help out the local economy. If the food is not "organic" like they claim so be it. I rather give my money to mom and pop shops rather than big corporations. Does that make me gullible?

  • @AiruhnG From an article in "The independent" newspaper in the UK:

"Farming trade groups say conventional food must be unhealthy because farmers use pesticides. Actually, organic farmers also use pesticides. The difference is that "organic" pesticides are so dangerous that they have been "grandfathered" with current regulations and do not have to pass stringent modern safety test"

  • @AiruhnG "Sixty years ago, all Britain's food was organic; we lived only until our early sixties, malnutrition and food poisoning were rife. Now, modern agriculture (including the careful use of well-tested chemicals) makes food cheap and safe and we live into our eighties"

  • @ojideagu you're assuming I buy produce from supermarkets that have the label organic on them. But if you read my comments which I'm sure you didn't. You would understand that I buy my produce in season from local growers and in farmers markets. I have developed friendships with these people. I know how they grow their product and what goes into their product.

  • @ojideagu You say "the food is essentially the same" yet I know plenty of people including myself that can taste a tomato and know it wasn't tainted with chemicals. Take Bananas for example. Bananas are pick before they are ripe then soaked in carcinogen benonomyl. This slows down the ripen process for shipping.

  • @ojideagu Yes we live longer now than we ever have before, but is our health better than it was before? The U.S. leads in heart disease, and in diabetes. France eats more cheese and saturated meat fat, drinks more alcohol on a daily basis, and smokes more per person, and yet they do not have the health problems that the U.S. has. I personally think it's because of their life style and the food they eat. They do not eat processed foods like most Americans. Their food is not mass produced.

  • @AiruhnG Wrong. Have you heard of the "France Paradox"?

"The French Paradox is the observation that French people suffer a relatively low incidence of coronary heart disease, DESPITE HAVING A DIET RELATIVELY RICH IN SATURATED FATS"

French people SHOULD have health problems according to your criteria,

but they do not. Which is why studies were put in to ask if Wine was the reason.

  • @ojideagu Mass produced food is cheaper and can feed a growing nation but at what cost? Food production and prices are becoming so cheap that it is being sold lower than the cost of production. Look into how chicken farms are debt to corporations like Tyson Chicken. The hormones added to chicken to and cows to produce more food is passed on into the food you eat. You might think twice and look into the mirror before you start labeling people "fools".

  • Even in the Wikipedia article on Organic food:

"There is widespread belief that organic food is significantly safer for consumption than food grown conventionally, based mainly on anecdotal evidence and testimonials rather than scientific evidence, which has fueled increased demand for organic food despite higher prices"

  • @AiruhnG Wikipedia again on Organic food:

"Claims of improved safety of organic food has largely focused on pesticide residues. While studies have shown organically grown fruits and vegetables have significantly lower pesticide residue levels, the significance of this finding on actual health risk reduction is debatable as both conventional foods and organic foods generally have pesticide levels well below government established guidelines"

  • @ojideagu I never stated that "organic saturated fat is better" you're putting words into something I never said. i simply believe there is a link between non manufactured food and eating local fresh products to better health. In France if the food is not in season people don't buy it.

  • @AiruhnG Americans health problems are mostly caused QUANTITY because food

is far cheaper in America. American meals are huge compared to European.

And also a lack of excercise and a massive reliance on Cars.

Americans use cars more than any other European nation.

Usain Bolt eats Junk food, yet he is one of the fastest man in history. If you

eat it in moderation and excercise there is nothing to worry about.

  • yea, i think we like to make up loads of words and meanings, we love to complicate things lol..

  • i have a 4 month puppy. how much raw meat should it eat?

and what kind of meat... plz reply bak

  • @jvrdlc It depends on the weight of your dog. 2-3% is the norm. Some dogs, depending on breed, activity level, etc. require 4-5%.

  • b.a.r.f stands for :Biologically Appropriate Raw Food diet

  • @cherryberryblossom Haha no it's BARF (or Bones and Raw Food).

  • @cherryberryblossom ....Actually they're both right :D

  • Where can you buy turkey necks? I've been looking for them everywhere.

  • Is beef good for dogs?

    Thanks

  • @bulldogopenfire yes it is.
