At first I thought Hitsugaya was unbelievable for going on par with Gin at such an age. But after seeing Gin's Bankai, it's kinda sad knowing that Gin had many opportunities to kill him in this fight if he wanted to, Hitsugaya's lucky that Gin had no intention to kill him :)

Why do people keep thinking hitsugaya will win because he was a little older or doesn't have full power because of his young age. Lets not forget Ichimaru is one of the most talented one because he graduated the academy in just one year and Byakuya and Ichimaru are about the same age.

@seenuda0007 Both had to be comparatively strong, ability to release Banaki is a condition to become a captain and as far as remember both Ichimaru and Hitsugaya must have been prodigies - Ichimaru due to the fast graduating, Hitsugaya due to being the youngest captain in the history. AND that's why both had similar chances to win. Just sayin'.

The Shinigami Captains are not arranged like the Espada though. The Captains are not ordered into their squads by order of power. Captain of Squad 1 may be the most powerful, but the Captain of Squad 2 is not the 2nd most powerful. It's random really.

But I do reckon Hitsugaya would have lost in a real fight, but only just. Gin's pretty friggin powerful.

Throughout this whole battle scene the impression I got was that Ichimaru was just playing with the agitated Hitsugaya, not really taking the battle seriously at all. That's the significant tactical difference between the two - Hitsugaya shows his hand too soon into the battle and goes all out, while it appears that Ichimaru hasn't even come close to showing any of his trump cards.

I agree. Hitsugaya is a captain and all but he's so young and nowhere near as powerful and experienced as the other captains. He uses bankai so much and always ends up messed and mangled from the oppenents other captains would have creamed. That arrancar he fought was the weakest of the weak, imagine him fighting an espada? imagine him fighting the 3RD espada?!

Its been shown time and time again that you cannot make a prediction of a battle battle, by looking at previous battles in Bleach.

A couple of examples, Kenpachi losing to regular form Ichigo, yet it was shown that Hollow Bankai Ichigo (FAR stronger then regular Ichigo) was only slightly more powerful then the 6th Espada. Then Kenpachi defeating the 5th Espada.

Or Bankai Ichigo (who was equal with Byakuya) couldn't defeat a Privion Espada, and had to use hollow. Then Byakuya beating 7th

bankai ichigo definitely kicked the ass of the paravone espada. He cut the wind snakes without trying. He just put the hollow mask on after to honor the arrancars request. I admit there are some discontinuities, but please pay attention before u state ones that aren't even close to right.

Bankai Ichigo was fighting with a Privion Espada and hardly showed any superiority, he even lost sight of him in the fight and Nel got injured. Stop talking like Bankai Ichigo was so much superior than him, because what was shown was that he wasn't.

Huh? He lost sight of the Espada when he was in BANKAI. He used Bankai, and still didn't show much "superiority" than the Privion Espada, hence why Nel got hurt.

Bankai Ichigo is not much above Privion Espada

Regular Ichigo > Kenpachi

Bankai Ichigo > Regular Ichigo

Hollow Ichigo >= 6th espada

5th espada > 6th espada

Kenpachi = 5th Espada

5th Espada >x1000> Privion Espada

It's not bankai at all, kenpachi using bankai would have his powers tremendously increased.

.. Nnoitra would destroy Regular form Ichigo like nothing at all.  Styles have nothing to do with it, especially in Bleach, Regular form ichigo would get destroyed by just about any espada let alone the 5th. Bankai ichigo can hold his own against 7-9, Hollow Ichigo is about 6th level espada power.

No where is it suggested that Ichigo is faster than Nnoitra or Kenpachi.

Nnoitra is clearly capable of handling even Hollow Ichigo's speed, hell, even Grimjaw is. To beable to handle speed, you must be fast yourself. Kenpachi is capable of using shunpo, all shinigami's are. Kenpachi just prefers not to.

This isn't a battle of elements. Ichigo hardly was able to dominate a Priveron. If he was "preservin it" like you say then he wouldn't have went hollowmask. If he was able to "dominate" a priveron like you say, then he should have been able to beat him with his shikai.

Shinzos ablity to extend plus Ichimaru-taichous speed makes decides the battle. This is 3rd squad genius Ichimaru we are talking about here. He's had time to refine the hell out of shizo. While Whitey is really still a beginner. Gin-sama didnt get the least bit into the fight untill his left hand got trapped. Resolve aside Gin-sama was not into the fight rather than wasting time playing. But the fight didnt finish so in the end the outcome is unknown.
