Poole and Brownsea Island are my neck of the woods. I've been inspired by the Canadian sisters, Dylan Winter and now you! Thanks for a great video. Pity we're in the grip of winter now with months before sailing again. :)
See the video of my first attempt of solo sailing in my very old mirror, 22666. Bad sailing on a day with no wind but everyone gotta start somewhere eh!!!
A few years ago I planned to take my Morror from Calshot to Cowes. It was a nice breezy day when I set out, then the wind died and I drifted for 2 hours towards the needles. I eventually flagged down a sailing cruiser who towed me most of the way back!
Wow, a great adventure to be sure. Thanks for the video. My sister and I cruise in Mirror dinghies on the west coast of Canada. It's the only way to travel eh?
It's a really good book and he is a brave guy. Most of my sailing is to rallies, where we can meet up with other dinghy sailors overnight and have a barbecue etc.
It's a valid point, but the boat is more stable and behaves very well heavily loaded. It is not usually necessary to sit the boat out. The equipment is about equivalent to a crew member in weight. It is the intention that all equipment is lashed in.
Your way sounds fun. Have you read the book "The Unlikely Voyage of Jack de Crow"? I highly recommend it. Bout a Mirror sailor who took it through southern England, cross the channel, through Europe. Quite funny and quirky; he camped on board, endured pirates, wrecking and all sorts. A true story.
Very good!
Look my boat Chizh-2

i've had a mirror in Chichester harbour in the last yr, learning to sail, and this is inspirational!
Can't wait to get confident enough to take her out of the harbour mouth...
Thank you!

that boat looks overloaded ... what on earth if it capsized? All that gear ... I'd want to travel with a speed boat for assistance.
