i can remember it like it was yesterday. i was at school about 25 minutes from the venue. my friend paged me with 911. i called him back and he said i got depeche mode tix!!! i drove about 100 mph to meet him and we arrived there prompt to get a beer and watch the show.\

If there's any guitar player watching: does Martin use a sort of octaver for the intro lick with his guitar? I hear 2 guitars, but it's only him playing. He isn't using a chorus either, but it sounds like an octaver playing what he plays but 1 octave higher...? :S puzzled...

Nevertheless he's more relaxed now, he became prolific in composing music and writing lyrics, he looks more introspective. He evolved in some way: he's not only the DM frontman anymore, he's a soul and a composer: the pros and the cons of getting older... or should I say "getting old"?

Sure, Dave come out of his drughell 1996. Around this time and before ULTRA songs were written by Martin. For a better understanding of that period of time I can recommend Steve Malins biography Stripped.
