What is truly excellent is the beginning. I guess he's saying something like, "let's play that modern rhythm in major tones" or something (I'm not a drummer as you see), except that he says it, "let's play that ta, ta, tatata thing". His mind is growing in synergy with music. You probably won't even have to bother him with all the theorical stuff later on, as he will naturally understand what solfege helps us understand.
