Beautiful. Diane Aki is the originator. Iz pretty much covered it. They both sing it beautifully in their own way. Thanks for posting this. Truly a beautiful song. Will have to use it once I get married. La Elima
Mom, we are proud of your accomplishment. You are an inspiration to the family, the proud villagers of Milolii, and the kids. Tutu will always be in their hearts, and the recognition of kupuna will always be the lesson. Mekealoha pumehana, Kuiokalani
He nani ma`oli no!!!! Diane sings so beautifully, that's what makes Hawaiian woman like her so beautiful!!!! Nothing like like a large Hawaqiian girl who can sing our music & hula too...
oh. Thank you for clearing that up. I'm new to this posting comments on YT yet I forget that other people then the artist post stuff! At any rate, thank you for your post and hope to find closer to original of "La Elima" recording! Its so beautiful! later, e n l.a.
In addition Diane, it was an album that was blue with palm trees etc. at any rate, are you the original singer of this recording. I see several other people singing it while you are the closest to my memory. thank you, e n l.a.
I guess I'm referencing the sound of what my Mom use to play when I was before15 years of age. I am now 54 and my Mom has transcended into God's Heaven! Don't get me wrong, Your riendition is beautiful and your voice is lovely. Maybe the studio version with all acoustics controlled and instrumentation etc will match that memory of the sound that I usta hear when Mom played that LP. Thank you so much for the reply. You are the version that got me to this place. :)
Important historical record ! About the tsunami that swept thru .There was a school house located at the shore. The children were found miraculously safe in a cave ."Someone" lead them there ! Diana Aki is one of Hawaii's living treasures !
Does anyone know how to contact her? I used to hang out at her house on my birthdays when I was in Hawaii as a kid. I'm finally coming back for a while and really want to see her.
Mahalo Anake Diana Aki. Her mana is profound, full of aloha and humility. As a fellow Native Hawaiian I share in the manao and na'au. Much aloha, love, and light.... Malama Pono! Kuhio
I have to agree with you kd5txo , she does make you want to give her a big hug and she definitely has that Aloha Spirit. She just seems to be a very very sweet person and I wish there were more videos of her or with her in them. More video of Diana Aki please. Mahalo to you kawika96797 for posting this. one.
One of my favorite wahine singer of all time. Mahalo brada Kawik's! Need some more of Aunty Di, Sam Bernard, Ho'opi'i's Bro., Hui Ohana etc. Good start dough, yeah.

She sings this song so good with her beautiful voice. When you hear a voice like hers or Iz, you think of Hawaii and the memories of Home.
