this is the way that john origionally intended it to sound. And he wanted it to be a single, but paul and george convinced him that it would not make it because it was to slow. And so sessions for a faster version began the next day.

This version was recorded tuesday june 4th. 1968. and turns out that the picture of john laying on his back singing, is this 10 minute version.

I got out my beatles bible, this is 100% real. page 136 first edition "the beatles recording sessions. the official abbey road studio session notes" by mark lewisohn, it gives a very good description of this ten minute version, the mama dada are paul and george and the high aaaaahhh is paul, very very cool to hear this, I suggest this book to all beatle fans. and thank you thebeatlesapple for posting this, I stand corrected, it is 100% real.

@cast390 More like lays there like a very high fish! Experimenting with music after experimenting with drugs. I'd be willing to bet much of their experiments came about from hiding in the studio due to the crazy fans.
