Did you know that Jim was reluctant to do sesame street b/c he didn't want to be known as a kids performer and not be taken seriously. I learned this from David Rudmore, who worked with Jim and now voices Cookie Monster. I got to meet him and get his autograph.
I read online that Jason Segal wants the new muppet movie to be old school like the great muppet caper and so on. I really hope that it is. It'd truly be amazing. When it comes out next year I'm definitely going to see it.
@oceanstar461 Little disappointed that Charles Grodin turned down his cameo as Nicky Holiday still serving time for the Baseball Diamond robbery...that would've been HILARIOUS.
The fact that no one really knows how they did the bicycle scenes just adds to the sort of mystical awesomeness that is the Muppets. You don't question it.
Backround Muppets: Doglion Jim Henson Frank Oz Jerry Nelson Jim Martin Dave Goelz Sundance The Lion Dave Goelz Jerry Nelson Behemoth Jerry Nelson Dave Goelz Richard Hunt Fletcherbird Steve Whitmire Telly Monster Martin P.Robinson Bruno The Tradhman Carroll Spinney Buster The Horse Martin P.Robinson Fogetful Jones Richard Hunt Gladys The Cow Richard Hunt Frackles Martin P.Robinson Kevin Clash David Rudman Ricahrd Hunt Dave Goelz Jerry Nelson Steve Whitmire Hoots Owl Kevin Clash
Well as much as jim used and advanced certain technologies, it was less about the mechanics and all about the characters and stories and performers.... Disney owes more to the muppets then what they currently do.
The fact that this 30th anniversary was done up this way, and the 50th was merely a Disney Re-release of all their movies (under a 50th anniversary collection) just goes to show that Disney doesn't seem to know how to drive the muppets as Jim and his company once did.
Hopefully, with Jason Segal signed on for the next Muppets theatrical release, the Muppets franchise will be revived and we can have a proper 60th anniversary special like we, and the spirit of Jim Henson, all deserve.
@FilosSoapEyed I heard that Thog and Uncle Deadly have been sighted on the set. Who knows what other Muppets will make a surprise appearance! At least Jason Segal and the Henson Family are doing it for Jim Henson.

This special is the peak of the entire Muppet franchise. If only this event could happen again.

That explosion at the end of the montage seemed a bit tame if you ask me.

Actually, that's on the muppet wiki; the bikes were being pulled by their human performers on bikes.

Why didn't they credit Follow that Bird in a MUPPET MOVIES spot? Besides, it had Kermit in it for one scene.

And it's the only Muppet theatrical movie other than the first 3 before the special... AND Jim Henson's death.

you got that right. My mom was only a few months when Sesame Street first aired. And she has an eight-year-old grandson.

The Muppet franchise is already being revived. It all started when Disney first purchased them in 2004.
