Because it's done on purpose. Ever notice how he changes once he is out of Romdo. This is done to mislead his character. The first time I noticed that, I actually appreciated how they first introduced the character with closed looking eyes.
Cut out the intro scene and cut scenes to keep them from being blocked. Somehow it violates the terms or whatever...
