This movie caught me so off guard, extremely funny, yet extremely spiritual. So I drag my family and friends to the theater only too discover that either you loved it or hated it (my sister-in-law; ie. church lady, wanted it burned). I own a VHS version I was lucky to find at a video store going out of business.
I dearly love this movie.. it is my all-time favorite film. It beats the Coen Brothers "Miller's Crossing" and Polanski's "Chinatown" (those are films i *deeply* love). I don't know what it is about this film that resounds so solidly with me but I have never expected another human being to react to it in the same way that I do. I am never disappointed when they don't.
Not available on Region 1 DVD but I bought the Reg 2 Anniversary DVD. We have a multi-region player.
Fantastic movie! I'm old enough that I was in my early 20's when this was released. I loved it so much, more like haunted by it, I bought it PAL format DVD and got an all-region player to watch it. Thanks for finding the trailer.
Well there certainly are not many of us alive that love this film. Did everyone look for this for years like me? I'm 41 and watched it when I was 16 and ever since I have been trying to get it again! Does anyone know where you can buy it? It's definitely in the Top 10 Movies of all time for me.
Most original Oz film late 20th century. A real director with a vision. Misunderstood film. Great film. A classic. The rest, Lantana, Jindabyne are actors film. Yes with a deft directors touch, but all theatre. Not cinema. Gone is vision.

The film is brilliant, and the book is even better. A masterpiece.
