  • It might sound very odd to others who do not have fits, but as you can see these can go on for some time!

If I have a fit while sitting in a lounge chair I often will not know I have had it. It is nasty loosing bladder control on the bad fits as well. That is telling me I had a fit, otherwise I just go to sleep, and or wake up doing what I was before the fit started, but feeling really confused. You see her asking if she has had a fit as she is still fitting.

    Take care,

  • My fits are similar to this woman, but quite a bit more violent. I have lost count with how many times I have woken up on the floor after going to bed!

I had Nocturnal fits until 20 years ago. Then for no reason I started to have daytime fits while awake. These are scary and again have lost count with the memories of me standing up talking to someone, and then waking up in Hospital a couple of weeks later. Loosing those day makes me disorientated and is embarrassing.

  • I was born with Epilepsy, and had my first seizure in my fathers arms as an infant. He said it was terrifying for him... My mother fed me phenobarbital in apple juice and it ended them. I know I had one more seizure in grade school, but which year... I have no recollection of.

  • It looks like Demonic attempt of possesion..They have been many seizuire patients cure for good thru an Exorcism

  • Hi crysiechick,

    I wish you well OK?

I too am an epileptic, I tend to have mostly fewer fits but they are very violent, almost always leaving me in a coma.

For me the fits do not hurt, other than afterwards when it feels like my tongue won't fit in my mouth because I have chewed halfway through it!

When fitting from a standing position I always just topple over with my feet as the hinge, I have lost count of the number of spectacles I have broken, ending with glass in my eyebrows.

  • thank you for sharing this. I am 46 and just recently started having seizures. I am anti seizures meds but they are still happening. I hope the find what is causing them soon....God Bless you

  • Just so sorry you have to suffer the seizures period. God Bless and help you to ocntrol them in the future.

  • my def'n of epilepsy~brain constantly sends out electrical impulses~if one of them/or more get "side-tracked" where it's not suppose to go(due to brain damage, lesion, tumor, concussion, congenital issue, injury)~then one often experiences seizures~had one today~wife said about 3 minutes~it affects my short-term memory 1-3 days(VERY confusing)~sometimes I injure myself~often end up with stiffnes/sore muscles from powerful tensing..among other things~lose 3-6 hours of memory but returns eventually.

  • It takes some balls to post this....rock on sister.

  • @Niceboy3377 & @layzy22 I can't really tell if it hurts during the seizure because I am unconscious. Afterwards though I feel the effects as I usually bite my tongue and my muscles hurt from tensing up so much. If I fell then, of course, I would feel pain from that. It's all afterwards though. The type I do have a problem with though are the ones where I am conscious during it. It's not that it hurts, it's just the fact I can't control my body that's scary.

  • @Niceboy3377

I have epilepsy and sometimes they do hurt and other times, I don't even know I've had one. The older I get the longer it is taking to recover from them though and it is scary waking up from one and being close to hypervenilating.

  • @CountryBumkin39 Yeah thats the same with me, I have had epilepsy for ten years now (I'm 17) and its pretty horrible, I suffered it for ages until I had a fit in my parents room and got diagnosed when I was 13, it only really hurts though when i bite my tongue

  • do they hurt? it sounds like you were in so much pain!

  • Hope that your getting better

  • I just finished watching "my sisters keeper" and found out that there is this thing called epilepsy. Which up until now i never new existed. Does it hurt if you don't mind me asking?

  • @crysiechick thanx 4 posting... i have the same kind of seizures and mostly the same effects during and after the seizure. do you remember anything while having the seizure? altered thinking/confusion? heightened smell/taste after?

  • Poor you... how often do you get these?

  • I know how you fell. I hope you are doing better

  • My uncle had epilepsy, it's not in the family though. They suspected it was because he had received some sort of brain damage when he was out one night. Eventually died of it, well it was several different causes but his heart was weak and he was on sleeping medications.

He couldn't handle the seizure, I miss him dearly. Used to help him when he had his, just watch over him and make sure he was okay. He was a tall bloke so it was common for him to fall and bust up his head.

  • Thank you for sharing your experience. i am a support worker and will now have to look after someone who is epileptic. now i know not too panic thanks again

  • Arnt febrile seizures only in kids and brought on by a high temp, but i would not say they are tonic clonic as there is no tonic nor clonic phase, and why do you not have post ictol stage, you seem to function well afterwards, which is not typical of seizures, have they found what seziures you do have or can they not pinpoint that.

  • @leigh1976 "febrile seizures" only occur in children but "febrile seizures plus" can go far into adulthood. I do have a post ictol phase. It is showing how I am very confused and I'm doing repetative motions that I do out of habit. The rest of this stage was cut off as I was going to the restroom :) I have many types of seizures and very often. They can't pinpoint the exact type of epilepsy I have... the closest they've come is "generalized epilepsy with febrile seizures plus".

  • My 4 day VEEG and the doctor doing it confirmed that I have generalized epilepsy (possibly with febrile seizures plus). The doctor did note that some of my more major seizures seem very atypical as well as some of the more minor ones. I guess I just don't do anything normal (lol). I am having more of the smaller seizures and the EEG showed constant seizure activity. The nurses kept coming in my room when I was sleeping, watching tv, and even going to the bathroom to see if I was okay.

  • if it was a tonic clonic why was there no tonic phase and not much clonic phase, I am just curious as well as why there was no post ictal stage, does your doctor say it's epilepsy ??

  • thats scary. How often do you get seizures?

  • @sigridandbilly It depends on what kind you're asking about... The type of seizure shown above I have usually once every 2 weeks to a month. I have absence seizures and more of the "smaller" seizures almost on a regular basis.

  • She was not turned over to her side,so it coulda ended reallly bad!

becuz they say u should turn em over to the side if they have an attack,

or they suffocate from not swallowing their spit and breathing problems, this coulda had an ugly ending trust me,if this was more severe,

  • 4 questions:

why are the seizure so long?

    how did you get epilepsy?

why do you make so strange noises?

are you unconchious all the time here?

  • @monjanse 1. I don't know why the seizures are that long 2. I was born with epilepsy. It runs in my family. 3. The strange noise comes from saliva in my mouth that I am girgling. 4. I am unsconscious the full length of the convulsions.

  • @crysiechick The girgling of the saliva in the mouth is exactly why people wid seizures get turned over to their side,so they can just let it out,

next time or anytime they should really try to turn ur over,if they dont already.

  • @crysiechick Awwwww i feel so bad when i see this! my partner paul has epilepsy and suffers seizures like the one your having here, i call an ambulance within 2 mins of him having a seizure, how come this didnt happen? i hope your ok x

  • @LauraJayne4eva In my case, I don't need an ambulance. These are my normal seizures and I've had them for a long time so the people around me know what to do. If I were to not have come out of the seizure, fall and hurt myself, or something else that puts me in danger then an ambulance would be called. I am usually confused and tired but otherwise okay afterwards.

  • My EEGs say it is a grand mal seizure (or tonic clonic). I end up biting the inside of my lip and I can't remember anything just after the seizure for up to about 2 hours. The part after the seizure where I'm constantly messing with my hair and constantly moving... that is my post ictal behavior. Behavior varies from person to person. My seizures have become more frequent so I am having to do an inpatient VEEG next week.

  • @crysiechick I have gran mal seizure. i can't remember anythig by half on hour befor and up an hour after.

then I am scaried, confused, I can't talk, i'm very tired ad have a terrible headache, I fall asleep in few minutes and i sleep fo an hou, or two, after it I'm well.

  • @BUZZUBUZZU I do much of the same thing.

  • thats not a tonic clonic seizure... there was no tonic phase and no post icatl behaviour....what do ur eegs say?

  • Not all seizures are the same, though I didn't see the tonic phase either sometimes that's not so noticable, she did have a bit of a post ictal phase when she was getting up and walking around..

To you - Seizures suck so bad.. I understand how you get.. I've had them daily for a while now. :(

  • looks like a complex partial seizure....eegs may tell u whether its a generalised seizure but wont say if its a tonic clonic or not........ hope veeg goes ok tho

  • Haha, Iwas gonna say an EEG will tell if it's generalized or partial but not the type as well. It looks more clonic to me.. Though I guess other people are different, lol. I've never had a CP like that before or seen one like that.

  • I hope the inpatient goes well, those aren't fun.. If you have a laptop bring it with you, it'll keep you sane!
