  • thank you, and now for my next trick....

  • 09:33 would have got him good marks if it were gymnastics class; shame it was football with Mr. Psycho instead!

  • I did my teaching practice in the Warrington area in the 1960s, and the schools were full of idiots like this. Great story and great film - and how we miss Brian Glover!

  • Gryce pudding haha, great film :')

  • 'kin right film btw !

  • casper!!!!! Whaddya think y'ar lad- AN APE!!!

  • class, reminds me of PE not wanting to go in showers and laughing at the lads with no pubes

  • 'and that boys is how to take a penalty' lol

  • any way denis laws in the wash this week fuckin classic

  • Barns-leh

  • Watch the fair shoulder-charge at 7:47

If that happened in today's schools, the lad's parents would be called in, there'd be a lawsuit against the teacher, he'd be interviewed, fired, and jailed for assault.

  • This IS Mr Sutton Nichols Ardwick Manchester Mid 70's

  • I liked Northern lads. Southerners were always puffs with big hair. Northern lads kicked their arses.

  • Having gone to school in the 70’s / 80’s in the north of England I can relate to this PE teacher. They were the ones that instilled the most discipline throughout your education. It was common practice to get a slap or a shove when doing wrong and never did any harm. Corporal punishment was being phased out at schools because it was deemed too aggressive. Today’s society could do with some of that discipline back!

  • yer moved haha

  • 2:32 "He's just come back from Biafra."

  • who u think u are brenmer

  • I went to school in the 70's and 80's and this isnt too far from the truth. Even my PE teacher was called Dennis Law!

  • That was so funny when he sends the kid off ! PML

  • This was Francis Bacons favourite film. For anyone's who's interested.

  • Brian Glover is class

  • My Father taught in Secondary Moderns, but he could actually play football. He had trials for Scarborough and was offered a contract. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough money in football at that time so he chose to find a job with a secure income. But, he coached the kids at schools in South Leeds to play Football, Cricket and Gymnastics. That's what they enjoyed most! That and watching Leeds United. My Family lived a few streets away from Don Revie!

  • northerners are wierdo's!

  • Another Classic British legendary film

  • Comment removed

  • Get Mr Gryce back instilling discipline back to British schools!!!!!

  • one off the best films of al time ,just mint

  • funny as!!!!! from Luke Friend 8E DHSB

  • Classic

  • Tremendous film, this of course one of the best scenes. Amazing how similar schools must have been all over the North. I remember being devastated when his bird was murdered.

  • S-t-i-m-i-l-a-t-i-n-g .... fail :P

  • RIP Eddy. (The school for yous that dont know)

  • I can still remember watching this at school (mid to late 80's probably) and other ones like Buddy's song (that wouldve been my last year or two of school) been trying to think of others while i watched this but none spring to mind, other than reading of Mice and Men, but cant remember being shown a film of it.

Its an odd thing, senior school was not in any way my favourite time, but seeing these things always sends me down memory lane

  • between me and 2 other lads in my class, we can basically reherse this entire scene

  • S T I M I L A T I N G ya fool....misspelt. thumbs up if you had teachers like this.

  • Brian Glover who played the teacher was actually a teacher in real life, and a wrestler. He lives this part

  • united having a biased ref, well i never! great film

  • that kid at 3:07 reminds me of Piggy from Lord of the Flies

  • "Anyways - Denis Laws int wash" = class!!

  • This film and Billy Elliot share similarities. Both are great films.

  • Remember those old school days well and them shorts & pumps, always picked last and always in goal...CLASSIC

  • " i aint bin in trouble sir, not since last time.." hahahaha,

  • "course, charlton's not as quick on't turn as law tho,"

"you trying to tell me about football boy.........you trying tell me!?"

    brilliant.

  • 'We'll be Tottnum so there int a clash uh colours' - a great line in a scene so terribly typical of those with next to fuck all castigating and humiliating those with even less. The games teacher, brilliantly played by the late Brian Glover portrays the ignorance and sadistic qualities of 'certain teachers' of that time. The spelling line 'stimilating' is an excellent lift from the Charles Dickens character Wackford Squeers, fictional headmaster of 'Dotheboys Hall'.

  • we`ll be spurs then thes no clash o colours.

  • back when britain was british

  • Who do you think you are lad bloody bremner

  • Fav part about this classic british film!

  • genius from beginning to end

i love the fact he chooses to play downhill with the wind behind him.

  • genius from beginning to end is right. so many little gems in there. my favourite 2 are glover spelling stimulating wrong! And "i ain't been in trouble sir, not since last time." That line for me is so on the nose, so accurate and funny. genius line.

  • anyway Dennis Law's in the wash

  • An early bath for you lad!

  • This reminds me so much of my schooldays in the 70's in Yorkshire...we had a P.E teacher just like this guy....This should be shown in schools now. Wonder how many of todays kids would even get to the end of the film.....

  • Talk about inspirational scenes in cinema. It's bleedin' fantastic!!
