uhmm, yeah, saw these guys at UCLA's Royce Hall years ago, probably 2003 when this video was made, to see Rohani and hear some Persian music. I grew up with heavy metal and my brother is a hip-hop fan and a bit of a piano virtuoso. We were looking forward to the musicianship we knew would be on display... and Rohani plays up a storm!
To this day my brother and I make fun of how those singers ruined a fantastic musical performance.
I wish I had 10% of their talent, not that it keeps me from singing, it was just a bit distracting. Imagine going to see Eric Clapton and he's got a very talented Chinese guy who learned English in Australia singing. I'm sure the guitar is just as great and the singing would be better than ours... but wouldn't you think, "WTF?"
This song was written for the car "Peykan" in Iran. It was orderd by a famouse promotion company for the commercials of "Peykan" to sell this car. Years later as there were no birthday songs in persian this became the one people played at their parties and so on. I love it, it's a beautiful song!
perhaps tastes can vary but that singing duo are among the best opera singers in the U.S. and you could circle entire Iran and you will find anyone in their callibar (for opera). Musically speaking it was obvious that they sang this song with very little training and despite that, they had the most amazing tight ending. Again, its all about taste.Incidentally this pair has been accompanying Mr. Rohani in his concerts for years and the crowds adore their performance as seen on this clip.

This is the happiest most beautiful birthday song I have ever heard and makes the traditional English birthday song sound like a funeral march.
