I've watched a few youtube videos showing the last minute of analog broadcasts and ALL of them have been abrupt endings.
WGBY-TV in Springfield, MA is a good example. They cut the analog signal at exactly 11:59:59 on November 5th. The analog signal was turned off just as the next program was starting. No proper sign-off.
I too hope that stations with a long history will at the very least have a proper sign-off.
A lot of the more recent ones did have some sort of signoff. One of the ones that went on Feb. 17 showed the "pulling of the switch" live. A lot of others showed retro signoffs or at least acknowledged that "this is the end".
I miss it so much mine lasted up till june 20th 2009

Referring to your "abrupt ending" problem...

Abrupt ending! No sign off?

Thats right, no sign off. Hopefully some of the stations with a little more history will do something more than this when they sign off.
