@georgesorosisgay1 Funny enough I have both, a Olympic white Suhr classic with all the extras and a EJ strat and honestly the Suhr stays at home most of the time.
The Suhr plays so well and is so well built but the EJ just sounds much better in my opinion, the EJ strats are the best Fenders out there at the minute, custom shop included
wheres the vid of him doing the jazzy tapping harmonics......and there is a siren that goes off...like a fire engine or cop car....and he plays it on guitar....anyone?
@rallyivan1234 You sir, are absolutely right. I have got myself a Suhr Pro S3.. never, NEVER been so damn satisfied with a guitar like i have been with that one. And i have had guitars like Caparison TAT, Ibanez RG, Fender American Yngwie Malmsteen, LTD M1000, LTD Alexi600 (in my metal-crisis age) etc etc etc. Tried alot of guitar too, but no guitar beats the Suhrs.
at first it was like...economy picking should take me anywhere...then...i gotta learn how to tap and play legato a whole bunch of different ways...then...alternate picking should help me get some different sounds.....now it's like...crap...do i HAVE to learn to hybrid pick for this guthrie sound? and when i have 1/100th of his repertoire of skills...i now need a guitar with a whammy.......i think it's better for me to just love guthrie's stuff....and not try to do what he's doing...
no one's ever gonna play guitar the same Guthrie does,
just as no one can play exactly lke Jimi, Beck, Henderson, Gilmour, Atkins ....etc...
be inspired by their passion for music/sound and go the same route - find how you can get the best sound from your guitar with your fingers, your pick, your groove, and play the shit out of it til it sounds the way you want it to sound. That'll keep us all occupied for a while yet...
@jareds1007 Carl Verheyen is quoted: "....if you hear it, you must learn it..." Try everything Guthrie does if for nothing just for the experience of seeing what's in it for you. You're world will expand exponentially! :)
how can one man be this intelligent and just an absolute genius on that guitar, there is no other I've seen like him, and I've never heard one of his records. Was just looking at suhr guitar demo's, unfreakin real this guy
@glassbottleblues look up Rhode Island Shred! i think thats the title... anyway its one of guthries songs and it is very nice if i do say so myself ;)
It's wrong to say 'this guitarist is better than this' but we can certainly say 'Guthrie sounds awesome, have a huge jazz vocabulary, can play in many styles and knows more about guitar than anyone'
@misternogreco what model man? I mean if it IS a cornford, it lacks the logo and they shouldn't have made it look so much like it's part of the egnater line of amps. lol.
@misternogreco my line of thought is that he didn't have his cornfords with him for this demo so he used a backline of egnaters and unscrewed the logo because he's endorsed by cornford.
Is it me or does he seem to NEVER run out of riffs?!?!? Like, his sound is noticeable, but you RARELY hear him play the same thing twice...his tank is ENDLESS!
@Worshiping247 Totally agree ^^ . After watching a bunch of vids from most other plays you start to hear some similarities and same stuff etc, not that that's bad though, but guthrie just knows everything!
@Worshiping247 Thats the beauty of his playing. He preaches that you should never get stuck with learning licks and repeating them more than once. Cuz when you are improvising and you start playing that fast PG lick or YM lick then you just sit in that mentality of playing licks and licks. He never plays the same thing twice. Unless hes playing a song but then he doesn't really like to play some parts exactly the same twice. He is the best!
@skarfreak It's an old Kramer chicken beak headstock before they went to the hockey stick. Look at Van Halen's Jump video, same headstock on Ed's guitar
Would love to hear Guth have a blow with Greg Koch. Seems they have some common ground.
