I spent 3 and a half hours edging a f650gs Dakar out of deep mud.... On the road its easy to pick up..... A day in deep mud and sand soon brings total despair to the user!!! I literally start dreaming of helicopter air lifts to get me out. I also dream of a 50cc scooter I can just pick up.... If you ride by yourself you can find yourself getting stuck with ease, beginner or expert. Learn to lift, but avoid getting stuck at all costs. The only difference is the expert gets stuck less.
This technique is the one Si Pavey teaches on the BMW Off Road skills course, and so if it is good enough for him........!! The other tip of course is to make sure the bike is in gear.
How to pickit it up from the mud? Right or the wrong way? I guess the right way will bring the bike up. That said, i had to use the technique from this vid.
A GS is easier to pick up than most bikes since the cylinder heads/crash bars stick out so far. I ride an '06 Adventure and an '07 KTM 950SE. The GS is usually easier to pick up because it doesn't lay flat like the KTM. I'm old and outta shape now but I can still pick the GS up properly, "improperly" as he shows in the video and "really really improperly" while still straddling it when it's on its side. The center of gravity is very low on the GS.
@kripkiller102889 A Yamaha Super Teniere maybe, but nothing Suzuki, Buel or Victory makes can be compared to this thing, its as happy off road as it is on road.
i borrowed an r1100gs 98 from a friend once i used it for a couple of weeks, i remember that it was terribly heavy, dint know it was so easy to lift up, thanks for the vid will try it.

You're doing it VERY wrong
1.Turn around- your back facing the bike
2.Bend knees, keep back straight
3.Right hand on left handlebar, left hand on tail/luggage rack (the opposite if bike falls on the other side)
4.Grab and lift using your thighs, not your (watch out-don't fall back)
5.Ride
:)
