Sanskrit, European languages, Persian languages have the same origin. Why do people want to deny that? Sorry but think the doco lost some of its focus and became one that went from India's past to a full scale desire to prove it as an Aryan based civilization originiating out of central Asia. All this without providing any real alternate theories. R1a people could have migrated west and a later migration by other peoples back east could have carried those languages. After all, the oldest attested Indo-European language is Hittite, in Anatolia, not Sanskrit. But the spread of R1a logically calls for an origin West of India-Pakistan, since neither the languages nor the DNA are located east of there.

Secondly, go to the Wikipedia page on R1a. The maps indicate two areas of concentration, Slavic Eastern Europe and North India and Central Asia. The largest concentration is in Eastern Europe; what is more, R1a FADES TO NOTHING IN THE DRAVIDIAN SOUTH. Pwn'd.

@ash786ash What you neglected to mention is that other studies at approximately the same time (2009) as the study that cites South Asia as the most likely origin, cite the steppes and Europe as likely origins. What is more, doubts are often expressed with the reliability of dating based on mutation rates/diversity. There are pockets of high diversity in the Middle East as well, you know.
