Hi. Good short vid. In your video you show two people shaking hands, you then overlay this on to your SUV image. What software do you use and how do you do it as I find it very time consuming my way?
@phild482004 I used Adobe After Effects to create that effect but every other video editing software has a built-in cross fade effect like this one. I wonder why you had a hard time applying it. What software did you use?
@beepsbobby1 Top photographers can get $20k for a single stock photo sale but the photo has to be top notch and usually hard to shoot. The more unique and the smaller the competition the higher your sale price will be. In microstock it's possible to make $1000 or $5000 with one image over the course of its shelf life and not in one single sale. Remember, great quality and a high output in new images can provide you with a good income in stock.
@TheSamuelMartin - Shutterstock wants a picture ID from you like a drivers license or passport. They do that for a number of reasons, one of them trying to prevent fraud. Another one is to verify that you really exist and to make sure that taxes are being reported properly.
ive been doing this for about 1 year now, i have a full time job, but i always carry my camera and right now my average per week is 300+ hey thats extra money so this is an owesome job, and its really easy and you dont need a 1,000 $ camera to start with
do you need to be a certain age? im 16...fairly young i know, but will that prevent me from selling so many photos and am i even old enough to do so? thanks for the helpful video
@simpsonator121 - Some agencies require you to be 18 years old. The easiest way is to email each agency and ask them about it. They will give you all necessary information. Good luck!
Dear casireisi, I make 3D models aswell as vector images occasionally and have a flare for photography, although I have heard this market has been 'raped' by anyone with an internet connection. I was wondering If i should even bother?
ps. your video was the first one i saw about this topic which wasn't a cheesy get rich quick scheme! concocted in the 1980's. Thank you
@tek5828 - Thanks for your comment. If you want to enter the microstock industry at this point, you must bring a lot of patience, a strong will to learn and dedication with you. There is no such thing as "get rich quick" with anything and especially not microstock. You can make a considerable income with microstock but be prepared that it might take you 1 to 2 years until you see a substantial monthly income. Contact me for more info.
@GamesForLifes999 - It is all free to sign up and sell your images. The agencies will never charge you any monthly fees. Of course the agencies are advertising and promoting your images to buyers all over the world by publishing ads in magazines and on the web. Therefore they charge a commission from each sale you make. This commission can vary from roughly 80% to 40% for the agency. Check the referral links in my description and read the contract of each agency carefully.
@GamesForLifes999 - That's correct. Some agencies sell the images for more than $2. Special licenses cost $100 or more so you will receive $28, $35 or $40 per image sold. Also you have to consider that in Microstock you need to sell several or many images every day. So if you sell 100 images a day (quite some photographers do) you can make $50 to $200 a day. Always remember that you need to submit commercially attractive images. Always check the most popular images at the agencies first!
@CarlaPJewel - The best way to go would be a D-SLR from the most known brands like Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic etc. A compact camera could be used but these cameras have some significant drawbacks like a smaller sensor (noise problems) and limited functions like small optical zoom, no control over aperture or exposure times. If you cannot afford a new D-SLR, check stores that sell them refurbished for example.
@TheRatiniked - Many hobby photographers make a few hundred dollars a month. If you put more work into it you can make $2000 to $3000 a month. If you are a full blooded pro, then you can make $10,000 to $15,000 a month. It depends on the amount and the quality of your photos. They have to be commercially attractive.
@ronaldrt - Landscape photography may not be one of the top sellers in Microstock. I'd suggest to focus good landscape photography for traditional agencies. Of course you can get some sales with landscape shots on the Micros but you'll only see returns if you sell your images over and over again. To be successful on the Micros your landscape images have to be spectacular.
wow thank you for the great tutorial....also i wanna start to do this and wanted to know is it better to upload your images on one site or on a few different sites? also can you upload the same image on 2 or even 3 different sites?
@spartin215 - Yes you can upload the same image to other non-exclusive agencies. Some very successful photographers though, choose to be exclusive with only one agency. They only have to upload their images once and have more time shooting. On the other hand if you upload the same image to many agencies you can sell that image more often and make more money that way. It's your choice.
@KaneAndersonW - yes, simply use any of the links in the video description here or visit my blog. You can find the link to my blog in my youtube profile.
Was wanting to know what to expect for a monthly return for having X number of images hosted on a stockimage sight. This information may be helpful for some deciding if they want to do this or not.
Everyone wants to know things like this upfront. Your income depends on the quality of your images. 200 spectacular images can earn you $3000 or more a month while 1000 mediocre images could only earn you $400 a month. You have to improve quality all the time. You have to upload all the time. Only then you will be successful. Contact me for more info! Good luck!
Very good, thanks a lot, this was most helpful.
