The currant government of Germany has exact police records of the names, addresses, time and date of over 600,000 women, children and old people who died in Allied Bombing and strafing raids. Every city and town in Germany was bombed at one time or other. Some cities like Pforzheim were bombed so many times, they was nothing recognizable left. People who did not die in the fire-storms, were buried alive under the rubble from "Blockbusters" that leveled whole city blocks. . . . . "Genocide" ?
The entire carpet bombing campaigns were aimed at killing the maximum number of civilians. They targeted City Centers, not factories. Three kinds of bomb were dropped: First Incendiary, (precursers of Napalm), then Impact bombs, "Blockbusters", then Timed Bombs, which exploded hours after landing, killing rescue workers or children playing in the rubble. Over 200,000 women, old people and Children total for all the bombing raids.

I grew up in Germany in the 1960s and 1970s. I have uncles and aunts who were children in 1945. I have spoken to dozens of victims od the low level strafing attacks.
American pilot were given a full load of amunition and told if they come back with any bullets left, they would court marshaled. They shot at every moving thing. Every train. Every wagon. Every horse. Every cow. Every person walking down the road.

They were allowed to attack ambulances because the Germans used them to transport ammo etc, most ambulances actually blew up when hit. @Kal50BMG Point of clarity....during WW2 most of the German transport system consisted of horse drawn carts/wagons. This was true from the start to the end. In the last part of the war the Germans used lots of horse drawn carts to move supplies hoping to escape attack by looking like a civilian or just being to small. They also used ambulances to do the same. So horse drawn carts were attacked, and like the ambulances most blew up from fuel or ammo.

I´m just convinced, the low flying strafers simply shot everything that was moving on the streets just for the hell of it. My mom and her grandfather were shot at twice by one of these "heroes" in April 1945. They fortunately survived. She was 8 years old, her grandfather 74. And the plane was so low, they even could see the pilot´s face. Don´t tell me any poor excuse for such behavior.
@Kal50BMG Sorry, one last point for you. I have read hundreds of accounts from pilots who were strafing Germany and they all said that the worst thing they felt was for the horses. Some pilots couldn't take the horses being killed and basically quit. Isn't war just so screwed up.

I live in Germany in the near of Bielefeld an a uncle of my father were shooted at daylight on his farmer horse. He saved his life but the Horse died. Everything i want to say ist that the RAF wasnt a bunch of heroes. They shooted on red cross water planes who catch up German pilots on the Ärmelkanal an BRITISCH also !
In Chuck Yeagars book he said they were told at a briefing that each USAAF Fighter Escort Group had a particular area of Germany they had to shoot up after they had completed taking the B17s to their target. anything was fair game to their guns. Better make sure that you are on the winning side then....

There were not many military targets left, so the Amercian pilot shots on all that was moving. In my hometown of Radolfzell they wounded a local baker while he was outside opening his shop....maybe they tried to cut down food supplies for the people left at home....no strategic use as far as I can see. It was a different era in which it is not possible to pass judgement. This came after the Blitz, D-Day, Hedgerow slaughters, the Bulge, Hurtgen, North Africa, Sicily, Salerno, Anzio, Monte Cassino, not to mention dying in the frigid waters of the North Atlantic. By 1945 the war had come home to the Fatherland and distinctions made in the air at 400 MPH between (non) combatants were not applied with 21st century GPS microprocessor guided "smart" munitions.

If you fire a few rounds into a house and it blows then you just hit an ammunition depo. It was total was so each house had to be checked while you had fuel and ammo to burn after escorting the bombers.

@andy7666 ...many allied POWs were killed in the last few days of the war by their own side as they were marched across Germany......usually by American P-47 and, P-51s. I read a book by an Aussie pilot who was shot down in 1942...spent 3 years in a POW camp and lost many of his best friends in this fashion. The yanks just shot at anything...didn't even try to identify it (as we have seen in Iran and Iraq). The Brits weren't nearly as bad and had stricter rules of engagment.

The Jedwabne pogrom was inspired and organised by the Germans. It is acknowledged by historians (even by the 'historian' J.T. Gross). About the German inspiration wrote also German journalist Thomas Urban (the corespondent of the 'Süddeutsche Zeitung' in Poland).

Yes, it does matter. The majority of Germans don't want to forget their past, but how can you know that if you don't educate yourself and stay in the past? Germany and Poland are neighbors in the center of Europe and there is a lot of cooperation between both countries. But it will take time until even people like you wake up to new realities.

Man, she was born on 25th July 1943 in Rumia (Wybrzeże Gdańskie); German: in Rahmel (Westpreußen). So, Rumia/Rahmel is placed within the Polish before-war- territory. Her parents (mother was clerk from Bremen, father was soldier of the Luftwaffe form Hanau near of Frankfurt am Main) moved in 1943 to Rumia/Rahmel and start to rent a house at Adolf Hitler Straße (now, Sobieski Street).
At least you know a little more then always repeating the same old WW2 propaganda. Listen I did NOT say she lost her home, but she is part of the new realities resulting from the war. What's your issue with her? Because she talks on behalf of the millions of Germans that were forced from their homes, while living in their native home country in 1945? Finally I understand the meaning of the term 'new realities'. The part of these 'new realities' is a miraculous transition of Germans from the butchers into the victims.
Yes, they are Nazis. The majority of Germans supported Hitler. Of course, they stopped to shout 'Heil Hitler!' and started to shout "Hitler kaputt!'... in 1945 as they saw an unavoidable disaster of the Third Reich. On July 4, 1946 in the Polish city Kilece Jews have been attacked by the mob and some of Jews have been killed. That is true. But do you know the continuance? No? Let's go. The violence was stopped with the new arrived cadets of Security Academy and units of the army and communictic militia. Between July 9 and July 11, 1946, twelve among the involved in pogrom peoples were arrested. They were tried by the court.

Was any organisation in Germany like underground organization in German-occupied Poland from 1942 to 1945 named 'Council to Aid Jews' (nicknamed the 'Konrad Żegota Committee' or just 'Żegota')? I have never heard.
The Kielce pogrom was not the only pogrom in Poland after the war, according to most historians up to 2000 Jews were murdered by Poles. Even during the war...I'm sure you heard about Jedwabne? In Jedwabne in 1941 between 300 and 1600 Jews were murdered by Polish citizens and according to the Polish Institute for National Remembrance it identified twenty-two other towns that had pogroms similar to Jedwabne. But that's nothing new because starting pogroms against Jews had a long history in Poland.

Or maybe the above mentioned good German people saved Jewish children like Mrs. Irena Sendler member of the Children's Section of the 'Żegota'? When Mrs. Sendler died she was commemorating by the resolution resolved by American House of Representatives (on May, 22 2008) and sen. Barack Obama recently submited a project of the similar resolution to American Senate. I have never heard that any German was commemorating with such resolution for the aiding Jews.

I'm originally from Ulm were Hans and Sophie Scholl were born and there is not only a College named after them but also a monument right in center of the city. Also Johann Georg Elser who attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler in 1939 is honored in many places. In Munich there is a Georg-Elser-Platz and on a plaque in his home town Königsbronn his last words are written: "I wanted to prevent even greater bloodshed through my deed"

I'm German and in Germany you find every Concentration camp well preserved as a museum...and there are a lot of them. If you go to school in Germany you will visit them many times and teachers and holocaust survivors will tell you about what happen there.
After the war many famous US Air Force Pilots like Chuck Yeager spoke out how wrong it was giving orders to strafe "anything that moved" which included....civilians, farmers, livestock and even children. It happened and ignoring it or like you shouting and name calling at people doesn't make it disappear from history.
The Americans....ESPECIALLY the Americans were supposed to be the good guys and that's why we have to be held accountable for at a higher standard. But war crimes were committed by US soldiers and it doesn't make a difference if the Nazis or even the Communists did the same or worse. Everybody knows who was responsible for the war and the holocaust but it can't mean if we did something wrong it shouldn't be talked about.

This was a common thing in spring of 1945. American pilots attacked all kind of "targets of opportunity" including farmers and their livestock, trains, houses, pedestrians, women and children. But interestingly if asked...most Americans don't know it or strongly deny it ever happened. Just to be clear, I'm not trying to whitewash German history, but this did happen and is part of history as much as other more well known facts of WW 2.

The entire carpet bombing campaigns were aimed at killing the maximum number of civilians. They targeted City Centers, not factories. Three kinds of bomb were dropped: First Incendiary, (precursers of Napalm), then Impact bombs, "Blockbusters", then Timed Bombs, which exploded hours after landing, killing rescue workers or children playing in the rubble. Over 200,000 women, old people and Children total for all the bombing raids.

I grew up in Germany in the 1960s and 1970s. I have uncles and aunts who were children in 1945. I have spoken to dozens of victims od the low level strafing attacks.
American pilot were given a full load of amunition and told if they come back with any bullets left, they would court marshaled. They shot at every moving thing. Every train. Every wagon. Every horse. Every cow. Every person walking down the road.
Civilians who survived carpet bombings were shot down by low flying strafers.

They were allowed to attack ambulances because the Germans used them to transport ammo etc, most ambulances actually blew up when hit. Low flying strafer pilots were told to "Shoot at everything that moves" and that is exactly what they did. All totaled: Over 600,000 CIVILIANS were deliberately killed by Allied bombing raids. @Kal50BMG Point of clarity....during WW2 most of the German transport system consisted of horse drawn carts/wagons. This was true from the start to the end. In the last part of the war the Germans used lots of horse drawn carts to move supplies hoping to escape attack by looking like a civilian or just being to small. They also used ambulances to do the same. So horse drawn carts were attacked, and like the ambulances most blew up from fuel or ammo.

I´m just convinced, the low flying strafers simply shot everything that was moving on the streets just for the hell of it. My mom and her grandfather were shot at twice by one of these "heroes" in April 1945. They fortunately survived. She was 8 years old, her grandfather 74. And the plane was so low, they even could see the pilot´s face. Don´t tell me any poor excuse for such behavior.

In Chuck Yeagars book he said they were told at a briefing that each USAAF Fighter Escort Group had a particular area of Germany they had to shoot up after they had completed taking the B17s to their target. anything was fair game to their guns. In my hometown of Radolfzell they wounded a local baker while he was outside opening his shop....maybe they tried to cut down food supplies for the people left at home....no strategic use as far as I can see. @andy7666 ...many allied POWs were killed in the last few days of the war by their own side as they were marched across Germany......usually by American P-47 and, P-51s. I read a book by an Aussie pilot who was shot down in 1942...spent 3 years in a POW camp and lost many of his best friends in this fashion. The yanks just shot at anything...didn't even try to identify it (as we have seen in Iran and Iraq). The Brits weren't nearly as bad and had stricter rules of engagment.

Yes, it does matter. The majority of Germans don't want to forget their past, but how can you know that if you don't educate yourself and stay in the past? Germany and Poland are neighbors in the center of Europe and there is a lot of cooperation between both countries. But it will take time until even people like you wake up to new realities.

Sure she is....just as there were millions of Germans that lost their homes, land or even their lives as a consequenze of the war. They are as much part of German - Polish history as the Warsaw uprising.

Man, she was born on 25th July 1943 in Rumia (Wybrzeże Gdańskie); German: in Rahmel (Westpreußen). So, Rumia/Rahmel is placed within the Polish before-war- territory. Her parents (mother was clerk from Bremen, father was soldier of the Luftwaffe form Hanau near of Frankfurt am Main) moved in 1943 to Rumia/Rahmel and start to rent a house at Adolf Hitler Straße (now, Sobieski Street).
So I ask you again: WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT?

Yes, they are Nazis. The majority of Germans supported Hitler. Of course, they stopped to shout 'Heil Hitler!' and started to shout "Hitler kaputt!'... in 1945 as they saw an unavoidable disaster of the Third Reich. There was no substantial anti-Nazi opposition in Germany since it became obvious that Germany is falling down.

NO "miraculous transition" but the ones you call "butchers", were just ordinary German civilians who also suffered from the war. But what about you Poles? What did you do in 1946 in Kielce when angry Poles murdered Jewish holocaust survivors? What about the Anti-Jewish violence all over Poland after the war? Up to 2000 Jews were killed. Your black and white painting does not work that well if you take a closer look at history, in fact it never works.

Ordinary German civilians. LOL. I am sure that these honest people hated the nazism, the NSDAP and especially the mad criminal Führer, who seized the power in Germany against their will. These good people knew notching about the genocide, they committed no atrocities on the Untermenschen, of course. I repeat: they loved THEIR Führer until Germany wins. On July 4, 1946 in the Polish city Kilece Jews have been attacked by the mob and some of Jews have been killed. That is true. But do you know the continuance? No? Let's go. The violence was stopped with the new arrived cadets of Security Academy and units of the army and communictic militia. Between July 9 and July 11, 1946, twelve among the involved in pogrom peoples were arrested. They were tried by the court.

The Kielce pogrom was not the only pogrom in Poland after the war, according to most historians up to 2000 Jews were murdered by Poles. Even during the war...I'm sure you heard about Jedwabne? In Jedwabne in 1941 between 300 and 1600 Jews were murdered by Polish citizens and according to the Polish Institute for National Remembrance it identified twenty-two other towns that had pogroms similar to Jedwabne. But that's nothing new because starting pogroms against Jews had a long history in Poland.

Or maybe the above mentioned good German people saved Jewish children like Mrs. Irena Sendler member of the Children's Section of the 'Żegota'? When Mrs. Sendler died she was commemorating by the resolution resolved by American House of Representatives (on May, 22 2008) and sen. Barack Obama recently submited a project of the similar resolution to American Senate. I have never heard that any German was commemorating with such resolution for the aiding Jews.

You seem to be quiet uneducated, have you ever been to Germany? I'm originally from Ulm were Hans and Sophie Scholl were born and there is not only a College named after them but also a monument right in center of the city. Also Johann Georg Elser who attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler in 1939 is honored in many places. In Munich there is a Georg-Elser-Platz and on a plaque in his home town Königsbronn his last words are written: "I wanted to prevent even greater bloodshed through my deed"

I'm German and in Germany you find every Concentration camp well preserved as a museum...and there are a lot of them. If you go to school in Germany you will visit them many times and teachers and holocaust survivors will tell you about what happen there.

After the war many famous US Air Force Pilots like Chuck Yeager spoke out how wrong it was giving orders to strafe "anything that moved" which included....civilians, farmers, livestock and even children. It happened and ignoring it or like you shouting and name calling at people doesn't make it disappear from history.

But war crimes were committed by US soldiers and it doesn't make a difference if the Nazis or even the Communists did the same or worse. Everybody knows who was responsible for the war and the holocaust but it can't mean if we did something wrong it shouldn't be talked about.

This was a common thing in spring of 1945. American pilots attacked all kind of "targets of opportunity" including farmers and their livestock, trains, houses, pedestrians, women and children. But interestingly if asked...most Americans don't know it or strongly deny it ever happened. Just to be clear, I'm not trying to whitewash German history, but this did happen and is part of history as much as other more well known facts of WW 2.

Quite a lot of Americans are, and were, Nazi sympathizers. George Bush's grandfather, for instance, had to be threatened with prosecution by FDR before he ceased business dealings with Hitler. Ask an old Jew about Germany and you'll get a more informed perspective.
