  • @Hectanooga1 Thank you so much!!

  • what brand is your hook?

  • @lecerise6263 I have no idea... I bought it at Walmart.

  • Can I use a smaller Crochet hook?? Please reply

  • @YourLoveIsEternal In crochet, hook size is very important! If you use a smaller hook, your hat will turn out smaller.... so the answer is.... if you want your hat to turn out the correct size... you must use the correct size hook.

  • Could you please tell me how to make it for 1 year old girl( head size 17.5 ").I have never done any thing like this before .I really want to do this for my daughter first birthdayT.hank you so muchfor your help .

  • @andaaree Start with 13 double crochet in the first row, then continue with the pattern.

  • @Hectanooga1 Thank you so much for your help

  • I just tried sitting down and trying the hat out... This is my first hat not by loom. First issue, when i complete my round and i slip stitch to close that row up, it seems like i have a fairly large hole on every row where they meet up... is there a way to lessen that? and is there a certain way to wrap the hook for best results on the double crochet? It seems like it doesnt want to let me pass my hook thru without my yarn falling off. Thanks!

  • I was wondering how I would make it for a 4 year old and ten year old.

  • My Granddaughter and I enjoy your videos..

  • please use lighter colors I cant see what your doing!

  • can i just use a single yarn instead of a double?

  • @Lettyna1 If you only use one strand of worsted weight your hat will probably be so small it will only fit a doll....

To use only one strand, you would have to use "chunky" style yarn.

  • Hi i made this hat and came out really cute, only thing it's about the size for a premie or little newborn, is there anyway i can make it for a 9 month old thank you

  • @myna102 The video says to start with 10 double crochet in the ring.

So for a 9 month old, you could start with 13 double crochet in the ring, since you say your first hat turned out really small. (Beginners usually have tight tension, and that would make an item turn out smaller than the designer usually plans for it to be.)

After your row of 13 double crochet, do the row of increase stitches, 2 dc in each stitch.

Then continue with the pattern, adding more rows at the end if necessary.

  • @Hectanooga1 this helped so much! my first hat was too small for my nephew but SOOOO cute and it was super easy to correct :)

  • Took me several tries but I FINALLY made this awesome hat for an adult. After I figured out what I was doing wrong, it was easy peasy! Plus now I have a lovely collection of pot holders from failed hats. >.>

  • @Bethashley04 GREAT!!!

  • I have twins and no time, this will be easy to do while the babies sleep!

  • thanks for this great tutorial Emi! I just made two hats and they go so quick! Great for baby shower gifts =)

  • Hi do you have a video showing how to attach a pom pom to the beanie. Love the video already made 2!

  • @Suarezl23 No, I don't have a video for that... but you just pull the strands of yarn that were used to tie into a bundle through the top of the hat, in 2 different stitches, then tie into a square knot inside the hat. Have a great day!!!

  • @Hectanooga1 Thank you!

  • Hello what size is your hook and what kind f yarn I can use with double sizes? please let me know I'm trying to find a easy way to make fast hat I have 3 boys lol

  • @Mrsjhasmincruz Size 9mm (USM) crochet hook, and 2 strands of worsted weight yarn

  • Hi Mrs2009Welch... I tried to add a clickable link, but I don't think it worked, so I added the link in the text below the video. You can see all my crochet videos by clicking on the playlist titled "crochet projects" below the photo of the video. Scroll down the page, and all my different playlists will be there.

  • I have tried to find your adult chunky beanie video and I can't. I was just wondering if it was still here. I made this hat for my daughter and now the hubby wants one :) thanks!

  • Awesome turoria thanks! would this be easy for someone who is just starting to crochet?

  • Hi there!

Do the first row of double crochet.

Then do the following row of 2 double crochet in each stitch.

After that, don't increase any more stitches, just do one double crochet in each stitch for every row. Make as many rows as you need for the hat to be long enough to reach 4 inches long. That should fit a newborn.

  • hello, i love your turorial is really easy to fallow thanks. i will like to know how i have to start the hat for a new born?

  • Hi dsalinas737!

For a boy hat, I would leave out the flower, but the pom pom should be ok.

For size 5, start by making 13 double crochet in the first row.

Then continue with the pattern. (Increase to 28 stitches in the next row, and then increase to 36 stitches in the following row. After that, it's double crochet in each stitch.)

Continue with the pattern until the hat is long enough for your child's head.

    Have fun!!

  • Hi, i love your tutorial, would it look good on a boy with pom pom and flower, and how should i increase for a 5 yr old?

    Thanks a lot!!!!!

  • I love your video. Thank you very much for showing us how to crochet. My first time. Can you please show how to crochet a beanie for a 4 yrs old? thank you.

  • Thank you so much!

  • Thank you for this! I just finished and my hat is adorable!

  • This is really cute. Thanks for a great video!

  • Great video thank u!

  • If your crochet hook is smaller than the one I used your hat will turn out smaller.

If your yarn is smaller than the yarn I used, your hat will turn out smaller.

If you hold onto the yarn with an iron grip (which is common for beginners), your hat will turn out smaller.

It's awesome that you made a hat!!!

    Keep practising, you'll get it!!

(I have a video on tension, but every time I try to put the link in here, I get an error message.) It's on my channel.

  • I really loved the video, it was amazing how you did a hat in 15 minutes! I am a beginner and i am impressed :) Unfortunately i have tried it twice but the first hat would fit only barbie's head and the second one was a little bigger!!! Can you imagine what i am doing wrong? Do i make it very tight? I used a single yarn. Please help me, i really want to do this for my baby girl! Thank you!!!

  • I used Red Heart Super Saver yarn, in worsted weight.

  • What kind of yarn did you used? Thanks

  • I really enjoyed this video. I cannot read a pattern at all. Instead of making the baby hat I made an adult hat. What I did was repeat step 3 twice in order to make the cap big enough for my head. Then I kept going on with step number four making it as long as I wanted the hat to be, Then I chose to go to the single crochet to make a band. Thanks so much. You are a wonderful teacher.

  • Thanks so much rockinrobin... love your feedback. (I do have the chunky beanie in adult size on my channel.)

  • I loved this! It was wicked easy! I was wondering if there was a way to make it without having a hole at the top? I don't really like pom poms. This is the first thing I have ever crochet (how do you spell that for past tense?) I just learned to crochet last week so I am pretty excited about it but there is a hole in the top.

  • I find by turning after each row, the stitches settle better, it's a personal preference.

When finishing a round, do not work into the stitch right next to the chain, as the chain takes the place of the first stitch... unless of course you are making 2 stitches in every stitch around, in that case, make one stitch in that stitch.

  • HI ! I am new as well, Questions , 1. What is the purpose of turning each time one finishes a round ? and 2. When finishing a round do you double crochet in the stich right next to the chain ?? I have made several and keep having to undo and redo. they finally turn out , but sometimes turn out flat ??? Thank you Thank you !

  • Cute!! I know, it's hard to say that a child of a certain age has a head size of a certain circumference!! Good job!

  • To double up on the yarn, you just hold 2 strands as though you were holding one, and then you crochet with the two strands. Hope that helps!

  • How do you double up on the yarn exactly?

  • Thanks for the video. I just made my son one. I had to increase a couple more times because he has a big head. lol But it came out great. Thx!

You can see it on Ravelry. Same username . :)

  • Will u make a video on how to make a beanie for an adult or kid using a crochet hook size I and im still learning how to do this

  • Thanks for the tutorial! I just learned how to crochet two days ago and written patterns confuse me, but your tutorial was very easy to follow! :)

  • Okey dokey.... working on an adult size now!!! Will be posting soon!!!

  • I did this in 15 mins! LOVE the chunky fast work up.

  • Thank you so much for this video. I am a beginner, and this was super easy to follow!

  • In order for the hat to turn out the correct size, you must use the correct size hook, which is a 9mm.

  • this is too cute I just have to make this for my Son and Nieces now :) Would any size hook work?

  • how do add to make this for a 4 or 5 year old.

  • Yes, an N hook will do fine!

  • Hi, thank you for the video, Can I use an N hook for this? God bless

  • Thanks for the tutorial.

  • Thanks for this video, you are very good teacher, i just made one but because i was using a small hook , the hat fitted my daughters doll :O).

  • I added the row to make it an adult beanie and it came out perfect! Thanks! I'll check out your other videos.
