Look up Russell's teapot theory, it relates to this perfectly. Then look up the theory of Occam's razor and ask yourself this: since we don't actually see the guys strap get lifted up, which is more likely? That a ghost did it or he imagined it?? I remain a non-believer:)

The attacks on the hornet by the japanese navy caused many casualities, these could have been a few of the many...the ghost saying "run" could have been because the ship was attacked and the person was running.
