  • The preijudism is so prevelent int his threat with anti-pro lifers talking out their asses. This is rediculus. It is about racism and also politically correct agendas by the school board.

  • you protesters are a bunch of idiots!

  • Comment removed

  • This Pro-lifers should be shoot and hanged

    Howard Stern

  • Why did they decide to protest at a high school. This is crazy they should stay at the clinics instead bringing children into their mess.

  • I remember when this happened. I am a student here. I did think it was a bit odd for a few white people to be on the school grounds doing that, since in this area, almost no white people exist. In my opinion, this is that racist crap they teach in that school. If the people want to express their views, let them.

  • I like at the the smart one behind the camera says not me i think they should of stayed longer in jail and good job to the north precinct officers on a job well done

  • lold. survivors? yea youre really lunch break martyrs.

  • too bad the snotnosed impotent d-bag punks didn't all get tasered.

  • You really have to watch it with the cops. They are very stupid people, they have no clue what the laws are or much less what the Bill of Rights and Constitution are. They took an Oath to support and defend the Constitution but they have no idea what it is. And they don't give a shit. They only care about their petty little power trip. These guys are lucky the traitor cops didn't just murder them in cold blood and say that they were attacked by people armed with the Constitution.

  • You really need to file dozens of civil rights lawsuits under Title 42 Section 1983, in the nearest Federal court, since the local court will likely be controlled by the police. Simple as that, and nothing else will work. You can get money for the group, and reach more people, but you need to file the lawsuits. You don't need a lawyer, you can do it yourself. Please, everyone, file those lawsuits. Contact me for more info if you need to.

  • There are risks when killing one's baby inside the womb, be it legal or not. If the mother wants to risk it, only she is to blame. Robbing a bank is risky. Should we legalize that to make it safer for the thief?

  • Wetleg, if you stick one end of a metal coat hanger into an electric socket and the other end far enough up your nose you might be able to jump start your brain.

  • Tell us another fairy tale, wetleg.

  • For years, anti-abortionists turned the other cheek and law enforcement tyranny only worsened. The only solution is to sue. Find a top notch anti-abortion lawyer, and seek high damage awards. Our Founding Father's paid a high price to let freedom ring, and so should Birmingham.

  • If any of you annoying creeps harass my children at their school you'll be lucky if the police get to you before I do!

  • Matthew 10:28

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

  • Wetleg,

Do you have baby bones in your closet?

  • To think someone actually had children with you! You probably had him drugged & comatose.

  • I get it, tleecook. Reverse psychology, right?

Don't you fret now, they'll be back ;-)

  • This is my High School Save That shit For Hoover and Homewood. Stay the fuck out of the hood

  • Comment removed

  • Go pull a hood tightly over yo ugly face!

  • You people in the Survivors group are heroes. Sorry you had to spend a night in jail, but it was helpful to the pro-life cause - you're an inspiration to me and hopefully to many others. Maybe some police departments will learn the law from this incident. The truth will not be silenced, keep on telling it.

  • I'm retired BPD. I received very little training on how to handle peaceful demonstrators (1980-2004), and apparently things haven't changed much. This video indicates the demonstrators were on the public sidewalk and the grassy area between the sidewalk and the street. Under ordinary circumstances that is a legal place to demonstrate. It appears someone from the school complained to the police. Apparently they don't know First Amendment rights any better than the PD, and that's a shame.

  • Comment removed

  • @calexander007

Most state that I know of it is against the law to put signage on or between the sidewalk and the street. Most states have loitering laws. That would make how they were doing wrong by law. It will also depend on how the easement is worderd the city has for the sidewalk and grass from the sidewalk to the curb.

  • Everything in today's world is on its head. I half expect to see the black cops turn hoses and dogs on the pro-lifers.

  • Cmsgret, I'm pro-life myself, but let's tone down the rhetoric. There were no hoses, no dogs, no threats, no assaults. Forgive them, Cmsgret, for they know not what they do. They need education, and hopefully, this episode will bring that.

  • sue them for millions!!!!

  • Calm down, Wait887. There's no need for million-dollar drama. The police were doing what they thought they were supposed to do. Blame the commanders. With its history, BPD should teach its officers better, especially after three black police chiefs.

  • I don't disagree they have freedom of speech, but they protest to remove rights of people who think differently than they do....so I support your right to say whatever the fuck you want, but that doesn't mean you're not a fucking idiot.

  • Ray, there's no need to use the Fword. We get it. YOU don't get that the demonstrators aren't against people thinking differently, they're against murder, and murder is never a "right." Were the abolitionists (people against slavery) "F-ing idiots"? Were the people fighting the Holocaust "F-ing idiots"? Were the people at Birmingham's downtown courthouse, demonstrating against capital punishment, "F-ing idiots?"

  • I hope you guys sue! This needs to be more public, Birmingham police are using their authority to stop peaceful educators. The cops totally violated these peoples' First Amendment right. Even the big guy says he doesnt think it should be allowed on "Public Property" . So basically the cops arrested them for standing on public property. Why dont they arrest the Jehovah's Witnesses that knock on my door? My door is not public property? Just Craziness!!

  • I just love these Survivors. Kortney, the leader is awesome. She had to stay behind while the group traveled on so she could retrieve the cameras. She had to take a bus alone the next day to catch up. And the newbies on the team have the courage of seasoned veterans.

  • There are certain laws pertaining to school zones which are different than normal public property. For instance, if someone is caught selling drugs near a school they will suffer much harsher punishment because of where they are. LOL at the end... AFter listening to the cops for 5 minutes saying they're gonna arrest you. Once they start arresting she says "NOT ME??!"

  • LOL! It figures a pothead would know all about drug trafficking laws. But the Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust group doesn't sell illegal drugs. And the Constitution guarantees free speech rights no matter what laws or ordinances a city might impose - even Birmingham :-)

  • The one with the camera wasn't doing any of the 'protesting' or other 'made up' 'charges'...see was acting as 'press'....She was actually trying to help the cops out who are gonna have to answer to a higer court for the trampling they did on these kid's rights.

  • even though i do believe that abortion is okay in rare occasionns, i dont think that you should be arrested for speaking your opinion. you guys werent doing anything wrong, that i can see. i suppose people are just picky about things like abortion. i guess its kinda like same-sex marraige(sp?) keep on!!

  • These guys are not only fighting for their own rights - they're fighting for free speech for all, besides fighting for the rights of our unborn citizens. Bravo! Isn't it ironic that MLK was arrested in the same town while making the same message? When will we learn?

  • You cops got a hard enough job with out some politicians or politically connected boss steering you to violate someone's First Amendments rights. Don't be the pawn of some slob in the rear who got a phone call from some pro abort teacher. You put your lives on the line every day. These groups know their rights better then the cops because you guys are dealing with crack heads and wife beaters all day. Be safe and protect the Constitution.

  • Lock all the Christianists up.

    Fascists...

  • Sounds like someone locked you up as a child & beat you ugly.

  • God bless all of you! I'm so thankful you went to what looked like a predominately black school. Planned Parenthood has killed millions of black babies. I'm glad you love them enough to actually go to them. And you're all so brave. The threat of jail didn't stop you from talking to those kids. I know you planted a seed of truth that will blossom throughout that school.

  • noirling doesn't seem so confident now. Resorting to toilet talk. tee hee

  • Wow. The police sound the same in Alabama as they do in Illinois -- "trespassing" (on public property?) -- "advertising" (advertising what? abortion?) -- "lawful order" (lawful but unconstitutional?).

At least y'all kept them at bay for a while and got some info out there. Now sue them and use the damages to buy more signs and literature!

  • The public square around schools is a wonderful place to take the truth about fetal development and abortion. God bless you and keep you as you serve Christ and love your neighbors.

  • noirling wants to revisit these good times:

The Nazi Police State was to ensure that everybody did as they were told - or paid the price. The Nazi Police were controlled by Heinrich Himmler, and his feared secret police - the Gestapo - did as it pleased in Nazi Germany.

  • Eat a dick. If the police politely ask you to move along and you decide to be a bitch about it, you deserve to get tased. Nuff said.

  • You obviously know nothing of the law, nor the Constitution. These cops were totally in the wrong, THEY broke the law. Simple as that. And NONE of those kids were bing 'a bitch' I think you have that market cornered. They complied, even as they tried to keep the cops out of trouble my informing them of what they should already know. The irony of the whole case is the city it took place in.

  • What part of LEAVE do you not understand?

  • And what part of 'not breaking any law' do you not understand? A cop just can't walk up to a person who is not doing anything against the law and tell them to leave. Free Speech is our RIGHT. Public areas are 'free speech' areas. That sidewalk is PUBLIC.

  • They certainly have a right to assemble. I didn't see anyone brandishing a protest permit, though. You can thank your Republicans and their sweeping Homeland Security act now.

  • They weren't 'protesting', they were informing, actually doing a public service, educating, and as you can see by the reaction of the youths, they were seeing and learning things their school was not giving them. Please know that this group has a team of lawyers well versed in Constitutional rights, and your little snip about 'your Rebublicans..' and '...homeland security' has nothing to do with this issue. The First Amendment has been around alot longer than your Bush Derangement Syndrome.

  • I think those renegade cops messed with the wrong group this time and God's gonna show 'em what for.

  • YouTubulizer: you have led a sheltered life if you think these officers are "renegades." And God is not going to show 'em what for, the court system is. What's sad is that the management of the department is at fault, but the officers will probably get the discipline.

  • No, Cal007. God is going to show 'em what for, using the courts:

    Proverbs 16:9

In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.

  • This makes me so mad! Alabama is not above the Constitution, how dare those officers!

  • Shallyn and ProLifeAction: This isn't about Alabama. It's about the management of the BPD, which doesn't train its officers properly. Noirling: Saxon is correct. Americans can stand on public sidewalks without a permit, as long as they don't block it. Police do not have the authority to arbitrarily "order" citizens to leave public property, under ordinary circumstances, which these appear to be. Neither politeness or bitchiness are relevant here.
