  • hi great playing and thanks for the explanation of the part that has eluded me for years the jazzzy hi-hat/snare interplay at 5.28 but could you just clarify how its phrased and on what part of the beat it starts and finishes-im determined to get this down please help!!

  • @343434richie It starts on the downbeat, straight sixteenths grouped in three, finishes on the downbeat of the next measure with the crash.

  • @KuzinRob thanks for getting back to me,that really helps, can't wait to hid the shed and try it out;are you planning anymore rush covers? if not if i could pick your brain about the opening fill for digital man please, thanks richie

  • @KuzinRob keep on drumming

  • is it pronounced lyk KoozinRob or lyk CousinRob

  • @foamysqueak11 Cousin Rob. Is it pronounced like "like" or like "lick?" :P

  • pop up video, oder was?!!? hhaahahaah

  • whoever voted thumbs down on this.....you are stupid !!!!

  • A pleasure to listen to and to watch. You are the man!

  • please tell me what's you snare. sounds awesome

  • It's a used Slingerland steel shell 14 x 5. Found it at Guitar Center for $99.

  • thank you

  • @KuzinRob rush has the best songs

  • the spirit of neal lives in you man. That was awesome!!!!

  • "neal" -.-

  • Nice work man, i like your interpretation.

I actually like it better then Machinegunsmith version.

Rush = best band in the world. :) :) :)

  • Great job! I only saw 2 things you may want to watch - I have a Dave Weckl DVD that states that the left arm when hitting the snare should never raise more than 2 inches from the snare. He teaches that the drum can be hit much harder just moving the wrists than bringing the the entire arm in the air. I thought it was crap at first - but he's right. Just like Bonham who always played w his wrists had more pwr that way. The other - keep those pinky fingers in! But overall - helluva job.

  • You f-ing killed it! Awesome job! Had to watch it more than once! Rock on

  • Well that was great fun to watch, love the thump of that bass drum. I wish you lived near me, I'd love to play with you some.

  • amazing job! i love the sound of your drums btw!!

  • Right on.

One of my favourite Rush songs to play

    bevasue it feels very passionate.

Love your swingin' arms at ~ 4:20

    (w00t).

    Good cover brother

  • your drums sound amazing, the bass has a nice punchy sound to it, i like it!

  • what was the secret message??

  • Lol

    No seriously it was "Lol"

    =D

  • oh.....some secret

  • Geddy sings "laughing out loud" during the part that I stuck in the LOL. lol.?

  • don't listen to these would be percussionists. 99 out of 100 drummers could not touch this. Good job!

  • Rob, do ten takes of this and pick the best one and re-post it. Your timing is off in places but your technique is good. Nothing doing many takes won't fix. Dress to impress. ☺

  • how the hell do you people afford all these damn drums? it's intolerable.

  • U save your money lolololololol!!!!!!!! ( for a couple years and then sell everything)

  • Hey pretty cool, not taking anything away but your timing is off a little. Overall nice job. You and Machinegun Smith do great job with this. Not an easy song to play.

  • wow thats insanely good... its hard to be as good as peart but you come really close

  • lol

    5:17

    WTF?

amazing, i just saw them live, nothing short of pert my friend

  • One of the best Rush songs ever

    Well played man

  • your awsome i love this song and can't play it nearly as well as you

  • i always love playing Rush songs on drums in order to warm up and practice fills.

  • nice snare

  • Very well done my friend. It is cool to watch you play the drums. Keep up the good work, and send along other Rush tunes, as you go

  • Great Job!!!

  • wow this is really good. u actually sound like the drummer in the band and you know the notes!! thats really good! i love this song

  • finnaly a drummer that can hit every note without "making it his own" as i call it, and by the way for everone to know i've looked at all the rush videos for this song and both neil and kuzinRob are almost the exact same timing.

Me personally im so sick of watching rush drum covers and not seeing or hearing anything like what there actually drumming, i swear its like thier in the twilight zone or something lol, but thisone is right on the spot, keep up the good wok KuzinRob! ur doing good.

  • This is only a big drumkit........

  • great job man !!! i really like how tight you got your kit set up....

  • Great job! Don't the those who criticize bother you...they couldn't do better.

  • what type of set is that? looks to me like its chrome and is it a slingerland?

  • It's a Tama Rockstar in "Misty Chrome."

  • this is cool man, i could jam on your set for hours

  • Sweet,no offense dude, but I think Machinegunsmith has ya beat.Your damn good though. If you havent checked him out on here you should. But dont get me wrong I think your great...

  • I have checked him out. I actually don't care for his interpretations. He has a lot of energy and hits hard; but I am not impressed.

Just curious, what does he have that I don't?

  • okay, so i listened to both. I think your version was closer to the original. From what I've seen Machinegunsmith likes to change things up. I think you did a good job, that's a tough song. The only thing I noticed was that your timing was off in a couple of spots, nothing major though. keep it up!

  • I love that big right to left concert tom lick.

  • I play this song to the spot on guitar and i thought you sounded great. Im no drummer, but it seems like you drummers are extremely anal. It sounds fucking great to me man.

  • wow man pretty gud . . . ther r still some things about ur technique that cud make things easier . . . hav u ever watched ne flix by thealien666? if not u shud . . . gr8 tech and his drums r tuned 2 sound like !@#$ man . . . hats off 2 u tho bro! keep it up

  • You are living my dream...congrats to you! Life got in the way of me ever becoming a real drummer, and I always wonder what it would have been like. It was really fun to watch you do this. You're not perect, but the level of difficulty for this Rush tune in particular is high. Do you do this with any friends posing as Lerxst and Dirk?

  • great work. Keep it up

  • too many imprecisions...

I hope martin periard can help you to resolve your bad timing division...

  • Wow, thanks Bobby! I'll be sure to let you know when I get my timing better.

    BTW nice videos!

    . . .

  • Wow... as a drummer and a Rush fan... I have got to say that that was some impressive stuff... Inspires me to be better... Thanks man!

  • That was so incredible. I'm speechless!

  • Bro, that is F'ing awesome.

You are doing what I do on my dash twice a month, except you're doing the real thing!

    Most impressive.

  • lol z0so2263 is me but my other user name on youtube lmao

  • great dude

but tune your toms a little more in sync

  • nice job dude you get a great sound

  • are those toms metallic? they resonate like crazy... big live drum sound! nice.

  • You have a very nice drum set. But seriously man, your bass drum sounds AWFULL !!! Never heard such a horrible bass drum

  • Your speakers or earphones suck.. thats the problem.

  • you did an awesome job on this song man, i also play the drums and am an avid rush fan and by watching your videos its improved my playing, thank you

  • Why don't yo do the opening Hi-Hat with your left hand?

  • Occasionally I do - just didn't do it this time. No real reason for doing either.

  • Ic ic...

    Well, great job either wai.

As soon as I get my elec. drums, I'm totally doing my 5-drum, 2 cymbal version of this, so watch out :P

  • You're no Neil Peart, but that was still freakin' awesome!

  • badass man.

  • damn your good!

  • i like the way you move around the drums!

    keep it up!1

  • Close enough!

    Good stuff......

  • I think I figured out my problem: I've been sitting too high. I recently lowered my seat and made some other ergonomic changes, and I feel a lot more relaxed at the drums now.

  • Great job. A tad bit off in some places but other than that you did a great job. You look a bit stiff when you play. You seem to be able to play the songs though. I'm just worried if you'd be able to play a 2-3 hour set playing as stiff as you were.

    Great job nonetheless.

  • LOl the opening cymbals... listened to Exit Stage Left, I assume?

  • GREAT SET ! Bravo !

  • My favorite rush song! Because its the first one i heard! Amazing talent! Cant wait to see Rush on opening night in atlanta june 13th!!!

  • I play Rush tunes on my little 4 piece Buddy Rich Jazz Kit. You have a nice set up and played very well. Kudos!

  • Dude if you play your video back and listen to yourself your playing this song correctly with no problem. However you need to focus more on your timing. Im not sure if your headset had some problems and you couldnt hear certain parts but your timing was off in parts of the song. Other then that you mastered it. I post this comment because Im also a drummer. When you post a video playing Laville Strangiato I will be impressed.

  • well .. i think you were cold and out of practise you missed some beats but it sounds good ,, njot perfect yet ibet you will make it perfect some day

  • awesome kit...great layout

  • 5:10 was great, keep 'em coming!

  • KEEP IT COMING! KuzinRob says he is going to post something original. Might have to actually tap into his creative side and be himself. The true test of a musician. WILL HE PASS THE TEST?

  • Awesome! Nicely done, and amazrand doesn't know what he's talking about. :)

  • yeah 5.11 wow

  • TIMING TIMING TIMING, Copying some fancy fills and playing along with a CD, a waste of effort. Imagine if Neil spent all his time trying to play along with someone elses drum track. He would have never created the music we all charish. Write your own music, Play it to perfection and you will be rewarded ten fold.

    Stop butchering the masters work.

  • Butchering. Appreciate it.

  • Butchering is the only way to describe it. Yes, u obviously spent alot of time learning this. For learning sake it was worth your while. But why upload it? Show us whats in your heart. Play the music in your head. If I want to hear RUSH I will listen to RUSH. Not some uncreative copy cat. Maybe Im wrong. Im sure there is a thousand Elvis Impersonaters who understand where your coming from!

  • No one is twisting your arm to watch my videos. So do what I do when I watch a video I don't care for -- STOP WATCHING IT AND SAY NOTHING.

  • If you upload videos you are INVITING COMMENT.

If you cant handle critisicm dont post. Where is your original compositions? You told me to wait and see. I WILL be watching and I WILL be the first to applaud something original. I dont believe you have what it takes. Five videos and nothing of your own. Why?

  • Dude! You must be one of those freak RUSH fans that thinks the sun rises and sets in their pants. If you can not recognize the talent that it takes to do something like this, then YOU are the one with the problem.

KuzinRob, I applaud you! This is Solitary Glen from the MP forum. Don't pay too much attention to people like this guy. Like the typical YouTuber that complains about other peoples work, he has nothing to show for it.

  • Dude read some interiews of the greatest musicians of all time, including the Peart, they all started out emulating their favourites, and then they went on to become so famous they didn't have time to waste on youtube criticizing the hard work of others. You seriously think that this guy, who can do a such a good job keeping up with Neil Peart's material, doesn't write anything original? Why don't you check out Feedback if you're so convinced that playing covers is for noobs?

  • Dude this piece is awesome. Think about getting a muffle ring for that snare. KILLER!!!

  • Inspirational stuff, KuzinRob! I started learning about 4 months ago and it's DIFFICULT! People like you remind me that there's a *reason* for practicing my crappy sticking drills over and over and over and...

  • In High School...I did vocals, our drummer at the time was playing with the Denver Symphony Orch. We did this song and I thought nobody would ever duplicate his ability til now....You're a percussionist not a drummer. Drums are the backbone of rock music, vocals and guitar are just fillers. I'm not a drummer, just a singer in a rock n roll band...and I bow to you sir.

  • You are my hero!

  • DUDE! Nice double bass and the sound is amazing you're pro? Probably better than niel peart lol

  • Dude that was very nice!!!

  • Thanks everyone! No one has found the Easter Egg yet, though! :) (Hint: it's toward the end.)

  • nice work!

You inspired me to fix my sound in Ubuntu! go you!

  • Very good job again!

  • When I played drums all the time, this song was one of my favs to play allllllllll the time. You did a nice job. I found myself tapping the desk here during the entire video. Keep up the excellent work there fellow Long Islander!!!

  • Pretty damn accurate! Your toms sound killer... I've always thought of switching to dot heads. BTW, you should crank that 6" up even higher =P \m/ \m/

  • Very Nice!!
