  • This has to be one of the very sadist episodes of any show in TV history.

  • the good guys always go first the scum seem to live forever!!

  • @amarieoflothlorien That goes for real life also.

  • even though it was a few years since this was transmitteed i am still crying over it

  • Mark Greene was the best part of E.R.

  • Im 23. Im a guy. I cry I see this! Or Rosolin Die from BSG. Im not ashamed of it at all!

  • @DRnikkiHOUSE He couldn't close it. There was a scene in an earlier episode when Susan spent the night at his place and when he lied down he realized he was unable to close his eye. He had to use artificial tears too.

  • @Iloveneelasam nope E.R didn't die with Mark's death, it was with Carter's departure that ER die or at least that's what I think. However I just think Mark's death is one of the saddest moments in TV history EVER

  • @alex18209 Yeah but in season 15 the last episode Carter hinted that he may come back to County for good! Therefore, the show COULD have technically still gone on (even though I feel it still did okay without him).

  • such a talented actor, he makes you believe he's really dying.

  • I've watched this scene so many times and cried over it for so long. I heard it playing in a department store and just started crying because I thought of Mark.

  • I remember this so well, then somewhere over the rainbow came on, I started learning the meaning of life. I was so young then.

  • I ll remember this part of ER all of my life: that was so sad....

  • @DRnikkiHOUSE Nothing happend with it, its something you do due to certain illneses where for example one eye is affected by poor sight by a tumor (as in Greenes case), you cover up the good eye in order not to confues the brain as both eyes would send diffrent information and force the poor eye to function, it could otherwise eventually lead to blindness on the good eye.

  • Wow, I remember watching this when it originally aired years ago I cried then & I cried re-watching it just now. Amazing, beyond powerful acting here.

  • Is anyone else finding it hard to believe that Anthony Edwards did not get an Emmy nomination for this season? He certainly deserved it on this episode alone.

  • Perfect marriage of music and visual content.

  • I'm Polish... and I don't understand why he die ? Who was this girl?

  • @Madziar95 He had brain cancer, and was rapidly deteriorating. The girl is his daughter, Rachel.

  • ten serial umarł razem z Tobą...

  • My mother died in April the year before from a brain tumor and now every time I hear that version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow all I do is cry.

  • My mother died in April the year before from a brain tumor and now every time I hear that version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow all I do is dry.

  • Be generous...with your time...with your love ...with your life...

  • why he got a patch over his eye?

  • @mymightyboosh He can't close his eyelid

  • damnit the good ones ALWAYS die son of a female dog

  • This HANDS DOWN is the saddest moment in television history in my opinion. How do you just kill Mark Greene? Devestating.

  • who sings this version of over the rainbow?

  • grrr so unfair! your mark greene video got muted too. . .

  • I am crying right now!!

  • OMG this i sooo sad....

  • samo zycie...szkoda tylko ze człowiek to sobie uswiadamia wtedy gdy wie ze jest bliski konca...

  • never got to see this till now. and i'm glad I didn't after recently losing my dad it made me cry.

oh and I just didn't like the version. call me a purist but I love the version Judy Garland sings

  • that is so so sweet yet so depressing...he left a huge void in the show..

  • This episode reminds me of my dear friend Randy,

who died of a heart attack at age 41 after playing basketball. His 14 year old daughter was there watching him. It still makes me cry to think of him...Every time I hear Israel sing this I think of my dear friend

  • so sad D;

  • Holy shit I can't stop crying stupid ER

  • i cant stop crying :(

    why am watching this again!!!

    ooh god!!!

    i love it! QQ

  • i think this was the saddest death on ER

  • Indeed it was, still makes me cry to this day. I think we all felt like a family member died. So good to see him again yesterday, if only briefly during one of the final series finale episodes.

  • its supposed to be a flashback episode or something

  • How is he suppose to come back?

I just finished watching ER and the promo mentions that next week, Anthony Edwards reprises his role of Dr. Mark Greene after six and a half years?! Am I hallucinating or is NBC going all out this season? Lol =P

  • It hurts so much but I keep watching it again and again when it is on tv. So sad.

  • I cry everytime I watch this.

  • perfect song for this scene..amazing !!

  • Dr. Green's death is a tragedy..

ER created by Michael Crichton - a big thank you

  • Dr. Green is going to be in a flashback during the last season.... I found this clip and have been bawling :(

  • Dr Greene #1 ON ER

  • that was so sad now that im watching over again i cant resist but to keep crying.

  • How did he die?

  • because he had a tumor in his brain

  • He had a brain tumor and they said it was inoperable. The day he found out he had a brain tumor was the same day, his wife, Elizabeth found out she was pregnant with Ella. He had brain surgery and they removed the tumor. It went fantastic, but unfortunately, over a year later, his tumor came back. He started chemotherapy again, but stopped because he realized there was no point to it. He decided to go to Hawaii and live out his final days with his wife and 2 daughters.

  • mark's my favourite

    him and carter

  • I sobbing uncontrollably when this episode aired. As soon as this song started it took me back to my mom dying. TV at its best

  • im sorry to hear that.

  • When Dr. Greene died, it was the saddest part of ER ever.

  • when Mark died...

    E.R. died...

  • i agree

  • I agree...this is when I stopped watching

  • So did I. He left a huge void.

  • @iloveneelaesam YES IT DID!!!!!

  • @fantasticflaw almost. I'd go for either the cutter's episode or when benton and carter fight over going to rehab.
