I'm from Canada and can say with confidence that any such project with the potential to displace so many people and ruin so many square kilometers of pristine environment would never make it off paper. Australians who are opposed to the building of this dam could easily obtain international support.

i passed through the area on the weekend. What a magnificent spot! It's ridiculous for the qld government to have even considered this area!

I live in the area where this Travesty Dam (Traveston) will be built. The river will be ruined. There is so much wildlife that will go by the way of the Dodo. The Mary River Lung Fish & Mary River Turtle. I think the QLD government doesn't care at all, they need to be seen as "doing something" for SEQ water problems. Maybe if they capped the amount of people moving from interstate to SEQ area might help!
