Great intro! I know Bill Weber did a good job in that intro but he wasn't good enough to replace Allen Bestwick in the booth like he did next year. It was a fatal error.

NASCAR today is not that bad people I still enjoy watching NASCAR I like the COT car it is a safer car and I like what NASCAR did with the car this year has seen great racing in my opinion there have been many different drivers that have won in 2010 my favorite driver Denny Hamlin #11 NASCAR keep up the great work you do to put on these races. go Denny Hamlin car #11 NASCAR in my opinion is the best racing. and you are right jgfan24rox NASCAR RACING IS THE SAME AS 10 YEARS AGO.

@NewBedford222 NASCAR is better than it has ever been! I've never had more excitement. It's really no different than it was 10 years ago, the drivers, asphalt, and cars may be different but the racing is still second to none.

@lemans24fan I felt the same when i watched this. Back then it was about racing, now its just money, its filled with greedy people. The COT was the worst decision in nascar history and it changed nascar forever unless they go back which will never happen. The only reason why they developed the cot was mostly because of dale earnhardts wreck. There is so many changes that put nascar in the shitter. I don't even watch anymore. The only name you hear of now is jimmie johnson.

Best intro ever? It's the same old cliche opening that's done every year now. "A new season dawns today..."It all began on the beach..."For it is the one race every driver wants to win" etc. etc. 1993 and 1998 had great intros.

I personally wish NBC would come back and takeover the 500. FOX did a terrible, and I mean TERRIBLE, job with the 50th Daytona 500. Biggest race ever, and FOX sent it down the crapper. I mean, they're running the old vintage cars down the track and FOX shows us video of some 75 year-old washed up decrepit old hasbeen lip-syncing lyrics to a song that was popular 40 years ago.

Absolutely pathetic. FOX pissed on history, tradition and everything Daytona was about with that.

I miss NBC's coverage of the NASCAR races, FOX's coverage always seems to be more about FOX and less about the race.

That music gave me goosebumps when they played it. They didn't "overkill" it and use it for every race, it was ONLY for Daytona, because there is only ONE Daytona 500 a year. I wish Fox would spend more time on a "dedicated" Daytona 500 intro each year, something that sends chills down your spine while you're getting ready for the Great American Race.

azbobbybooshy10 is absolutely right. A sweeping, propulsive theme used exclusively by NBC for the 500 in 2002 & 2004. Was looking forward to its use in 2006 but was not played that year as I recall. Far and away the best original NASCAR theme used by the major networks this decade; and sorely missed.
